Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
One important thing to remember is that because of copyright restrictions the Bonnaroo organizers have to get permission from, and compensate, the artists and the labels to include entire songs on the DVD. For various reasons the artists and/or labels may not have agreed to allow certain songs or performances to be included on the DVD. These kind of negotiations can be very complicated and take time so it would not surprise me if this would account for at least some of the production delay.
This DVD, like all the previous DVDs, will include many more short clips of various performances along with backstage video and general festival fun scenes. These short clips are much easier to include in a commercial DVD as they are generally covered under the fair use clause of copyright law.
understandable, i'm just saying they could've picked better songs from some of those shows that would've made for a better DVD
After watching the preview and seeing the track list, I think they did a fabulous job and am really excited to see this and relive my Bonnaroo memories.
Quitcher bitchin. You're at least getting a DVD this year
The quack I am. I'm getting a DVD next year. I was supposed to be getting a DVD this year, but it isn't coming out until January.
You might be happy with the track list, but I'm not. Like I said before, of the few tracks I am interested in, most were already shown on Fuse. I don't think I would have bought the DVD if I knew in advance that:
a) The track selection was going to be this weak. b) I was not going to get the DVD in December as I was informed. c) Perhaps most importantly, the tracks I'm interested in, I already saw on television for free.

Calm down there buddy. Did you really expect more for $10? I think $10 dollars is very reasonable for 16 songs I've already seen on tv (not to mention 9 at the festival). After all, they don't even show that Fuse coverage anymore.
For real. DVD with live Bonnaroo tracks for $10. Seems like a steal regardless of the track selection. I was only at 6 of those shows so those I get to re-live and the others are all new. I think its a pretty good deal. People around here just like to bitch at everything.

I don't like to bitch, but I'm not going to pretend to be content with the dvd. Very disappointed as of now, more so due to it being delayed. I am looking forward to it though due to what a few of you have mentioned regarding various clips of shows/footage of the locale being included.
I knew Sigur Ros wouldn't be included since that was the one band above all others that I wanted to see again. /bitch

Any time someone complains around here, six people have to show up an say "Oh, don't complain. Everyone is always complaining. Let's stop complaining and hold hands."
Here is reality: When you are dissatisfied with something, you should express your dissatisfaction with it. Otherwise, it will never get changed. If we withhold our true feelings about some of AC/Superfly's decisions, we would be doing them a disloyalty as a customer. We could all give Ashley Capps BJs behind Which Stage, but it wouldn't give him any idea of what we actually want and look forward to from AC Entertainment.
I'm not entirely satisfied, and if you really feel it necessary to smite me because I said I was unhappy with the contents of the DVD, it is your right . . . but come on, it is just an opinion.
In response to Klondike: First of all - I'm not your buddy, guy! Secondly - Yes, I expected more for ten dollars. The DVD came cheap because it was tacked on to the $250 + I paid for my ticket last year. Note that it actually retails for $17. The price is irrelevant as far as I'm concerned. Your argument is that they can make a crappier DVD as long as they sell it cheaper? Bull. I don't care about what I pay for it, I care about what it contains. Price points aside, no matter what I pay for something, I expect it to arrive on time. The festival ended in the middle of June, and while I am aware that editing is in extensive process, there is not much of an excuse for this DVD not being ready on time (unless it is in 3-D). As I mentioned before, a lot of the DVD appears to by recycled Fuse footage, and that stuff was ready to air the weekend of Bonnaroo. So, yea, I'm a little miffed because I ordered an extra copy of the DVD as a X-mas gift, and now it isn't going to be here. They don't show the Fuse coverage anymore? It's on my DVR, so I don't care.
I don't like to Ann Coulter at everything, just when I feel as if I have a legitimate complaint. I feel as if this is a circumstance where my complaint isn't very unreasonable. If you want to end up a sticky mess with Ashley Capps' goo all over your face, go ahead.

H
quacking KARMA. i couldnt agree more. people are allowed to complain. and hold hands while doing so.

Thank you Becca. I'm glad you understand what a message board is for.
I know I might complain more than some, but I think that is why places like this exist. We come here, we have a fruitful discussion; maybe we disagree, maybe someone has some negative things to say, but everything that is being said is done so in hopes of making things better for the future.
bonnaroodetective: 1. I'm not your guy, friend (karma for the South Park reference) 2. Do you know that it's Fuse coverage or are you speculating? Not that it matters. You're right, you can have your own opinion. I should have been more sensitive to that. I'm one of the people who enjoyed Kanye so I've taken a fair amount of abuse for mine.

I'm not your friend, buddy!
Yea, I'm speculating. I know that several of the songs on the DVD are the same songs used in the Fuse coverage. Perhaps they have been recut, and I'm sure the tracks have been remixed for better audio. I just think they should have selected songs that were not part of the Fuse coverage whatsoever, even if they are redone.

If you compare the previous DVD to the current Fuse footage, you will notice the sound is way better and its in way better quality video with widescreen. So I would expect that the quality of thew dvd is way better than the Fuse footage. We will see soon enough. I would think Bonnaroo and Fuse would both have their own cameras, but that may be incorrect.
its pretty obvious to me that AC and people want roo 08 to be remembered as the metal year as i note that pretty much all of the big heavy acts like metallica, mastodon, and against me made it to the dvd while bonnaroo favorites like umphreys, bisco, panic, phil lesh, robert randolph were all left off. i want to know if bonnaroo will continue the metal trend or disband it
Post by BonnarooDetective on Dec 14, 2008 16:16:57 GMT -5
Against Me! isn't a metal band. They had to include Metallica because they headlined and probably put Mastodon on there so that metal fans might consider buying the DVD. Don't get ahead of yourself.

im gonna add my 2 cents of bitching about the tracks.
Legends BB King, Robert Plant and Levon Helm, ignored. No Disco Biscuits, Umphreys or Phil Lesh. The Lee Boys and not Robert Randolph? i mean the only reason i saw the lee boys was bc they were on before RR Revival

Ding ding ding!! More than half the crowd at that show was there for RR. Nothing against the Lee Boys, they are just kind of Robert Randolph lite. Plus, as I mentioned, the Lee Boys just released a Live from Bonnaroo DVD. Therefore, it is stupid to make them one of only 17 artists who get a track on the DVD.
Legends BB King, Robert Plant and Levon Helm, ignored.
That being said, i cant wait to watch this.
I would suspect these fellows might not be on there for the same reason that Neil Young isn't on the 2003 DVD. The legends tend to be very protective of their licensing.
