Btw, can anybody give me any pointers on embedding a youtube? I managed to do it in another thread, but haven't had much luck in this one...
Try using this on both sides of whatever video you want to use link. [ youtube ] [ /youtube ] except with out the spaces between the brackets and the word. (if I hadn't have put the spaces it would have just shown up as html. Also there is a button when you press reply at the bottom of the page which has a Red You tub insignia in the add tags.
Lost in the Flood... another good addition, nodepression726. I think that one is my favorite off of Live in NYC. Well, it is either that one or Jungleland, or sometimes Backstreets, and lately I've really discovered the magic of The Promise, and how can you forget My Love Will Not Let You Down as a killer opening, or the craziness of Light of Day and Ramrod, or the crowd yelling "Clarence" in 10th Avenue, or the warhorse Badlands, or Youngstown w/ Nils doing what he does best but yeah, Lost in the Flood is great!!
Oh, I forgot to add that Atlantic City also gives me the chills...particularly the end!!
I'M READY FOR SOME FIST PUMPING FROM THE BOSS!!!!!
Here's a little, along with some juice from the Big Man and some mad harp.I know some folks don't like the exhuberance of the Euro crowds, but I just love the Barcelona DVD.Here's Promised Land...
Dancing in the Dark isnt exactly my fav song by Bruce but I always think how awesome would it be to sing this with tens of thousands of other people at Roo. It gave me chills
The new non-synth driven, guitar rocked out version of Dancin' In The Dark is a ton of fun. The beat just encourages everyone (Bruce included) to jump up and down. Tens of thousands of people going, "HEYYYYYYY BABY!" is pretty damn awesome too.
I'm really excited about Bruce and I think he'll put on an amazing show. I also think a lot of the family groups that come will be present for his show. It'll be so freakin' cute to see all the little Roo babies rocking out to the Boss. ;D

Another powerful performance from Barcelona- LOHAD.A staple on The Rising tour, but rarely played during Magic.I'm hoping that it makes a return for some of the WOAD setlists.
Notice how Bruce has changed out of his sweat soaked shirt from some of the earlier Barcelona clips...

My all-time favorite Springsteen song, and one of my all-time favorite songs period. This version(again from Live in NYC) is the one we would hear on the farm if he chooses to play it. Originally played on a four track for the Nebraska sessions by himself, this is what the song would sound like if the E-Street Band had helped to fill in the gaps. I love both versions, and they're both excellent for different reasons. Watch for 1:26 "Put you makeup on, fix your hair up pretty, and meet me tonight in Atlantic City."

The best Atlantic City that I've heard is the version that he opened the actual Atlantic City 2003 show with.Normally on the Rising tour the Band entered the stage to Sinatra singing Summer Wind, but that night in AC they entered to Bert Parks singing the theme to Miss America. Then they launched into a blistering version of Atlantic City and the crowd went wild...
Here is a semi-rarity,the full Band version of "Incident" from the 2007 St Paul show.I was there and it was special. This video is shot from the Pit,and can't be too far from where I'm standing. Really well done considering it's not pro shot...
And here's a little something from the Vote For Change tour for all the PJ fans out there that may have missed it...

I was about 5th-6th row dead center for this show. Absolutely amazing to see Eddie Vedder come out of nowhere to play with Bruce. I loved the "He's the boss, I'm the employee" speech followed by Roy starting of on Better Man on piano. It took the audience about 3 seconds to realize what was being played and there was this collective gasp of "Ohhhhhhh" as everyone realized. Amazing amazing moment.
(P.S. I'm not sure if that's the video you have linked, because it's blocked at work, but forgive me if it seems like I'm just repeating what you see there. Just thought I'd give some insight from someone who was in the crowd that night.)

Ack, sorry for the double-quoting here, but - is that Max Weinberg playing drums? Somehow the possibility of him supporting Bruce at Bonnaroo is way more exciting that "the Boss" himself.
EDIT: Just consulted the web-o-nets and found out, to my own embarrassment, that Max is a critical member of the E-Street Band. I guess it just shows my exposure to Conan is about 10x that of Bruce Springsteen...

Haha, yeah, Max has been in the E Street Band since about 1975 and Bruce has had to work w/ Conan to get Max out on tours over the last decade, but from all accounts, Conan has been particularly accommodating. This tour will be the first time that the E Street Band will play w/o Max behind the kit in over 30 years. When Conan starts back, Max's son Jay will be taking over for his father during what is being reported as 18 shows in Europe.
Don't think there will be a conflict w/ Bruce playing Sat. at Roo, so you will most likely get to see Max.

Somehow my expectations skyrocketed and then came crashing down in a ball of fire, all within an hour.

Well this is a silver lining, but Conan isn't quite the show it used to be...I think there will be much better things to do Saturday night!
If I had to guess, I'd say there's absolutely no way Max misses Bonnaroo. Europe is understandable. But by the time they're done taping in LA on Friday (do they even tape on Friday? Some shows are Mon-Thurs only) He can have many many hours to make it to Tennessee.

They checked Danny out of the hospital and flew him to Indy on a private jet last Spring for a surprise appearance at a mid week show at Conseco.Max will be at 'Roo...
Btw for our friend who wasn't aware of Max and Bruce's history, here's a little FYI regarding the Max Weinberg 7 and their roots. Guys like Pender and LaBamba are long time vets of the Jersey Shore music scene, and have actually recorded and toured with the ESB on numerous occasions.IIRC,they are both original members of Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, and the MW7 have been a fixture at Bruce's various Holiday shows in Jersey over the past decade or so...

Sorry if I wasn't clear, it was way past my bedtime.
I really can't imagine a scenario in which Max doesn't play at Roo. I just meant that Max has played the drums for the E Street Band at every show since the Born to Run tour. However, it looks like this year there will be some shows in Europe for which he can't make it b/c of Conan starting back up and for which it seems his 19 year-old son will be filling in.
Oh, and if Bruce Springsteen is on a stage... there is nothing better that could possibly be going on. ;D

Speaking of that night in Indy, this video captures that moment perfectly. It's better than the official release, because after they finish there is an added montage retrospective of Danny.I was in the Pit that night, and having Danny show up was a total shock. His passing 2 weeks later was even more shocking, given how good he looked at the show. But when you watch Bruce's face it seems pretty obvious that he knew...
;D ;D I just got tickets to the 2nd Rehearsal Show in Asbury Park this coming Tuesday, the 24th. That certainly made my day.
I guess I'll be able to fill everyone in on the general vibe of the show on Wednesday.
Soooo excited.
By the time Roo rolls around it'll probably be pretty different. Have you been to a rehearsal show before?
I've been to at least one rehearsal show for every tour since the Rising. Usually the tours don't get all crazy until the 2nd leg. Maybe a few songs here or there and they gradually get longer, but the general flow of the show is the same. I mean look at the Rehearsals for Magic and then the first few months of shows. By the 2nd rehearsal he had the general pattern and this song flows into this song structure down.
But Roo is a whole different animal then a regular tour show, so who knows?

Max Weinberg’s Son to Sub in at a Handful of Springsteen Gigs
3/20/09, 12:39 pm EST
Max Weinberg’s nineteen year-old son Jay Weinberg will be subbing in for his father on a “small number” of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band gigs this summer. It will likely only be for the European leg of the tour, since that coincides with the June 2 premier of the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, featuring Max as the bandleader. “Once again, I want to express my appreciation to Conan O’Brian, and everyone on his team, for making it possible for Max to continue to do double duty for both us and for him,” Bruce Springsteen said in a statement. “We promise to return him in one piece.” Max Weinberg joined the E Street Band in 1974 and hasn’t missed a single show since. Jay Weinberg, who plays in the metal band The Reveling, played Born To Run at Giants Stadium last summer (captured in the fancam footage above). According to fan reports, Jay has been rehearing with the E Street Band all week in Asbury Park.
Last month Rock Daily spoke to E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt about the possibility of Max missing some gigs. “It’s hard for me to picture a show without Max, honestly,” he said. “It really won’t be the E Street Band. I guess various members will come and go as we go through these last few years together. If there’s a few shows where he¹s not there, I’m sure it will be fine. Most of the time he’s gotta be there though. There’s no drummer that could replace Max. There might be someone temporary that comes in and we’ll have to adjust the show accordingly. What nobody understands is that not only is Max a great drummer, Max reads Bruce’s mind. You can’t learn that. That’s impossible to learn. You could spend months rehearsing and you’ll never get that.”
Jay makes his ESB debut at Giants Stadium,as his proud poppa looks on
I had heard the rumors about Jay Weinberg, but I guess that RS article makes it official. I'm sure he'll do fine - but Max NEEDS to be there for Bonnaroo or we're going to be guaranteed a standard, safe setlist with no audibles or surprises...
With that said, I'm very confident he will be - Conan won't be taping on a Saturday, and flying from LA to TN is much more doable than flying to Europe for a single show.
And - the optimist in me thinks that means even better chances for a "special" show with lots of surprises because the band will be itching the stretch their legs again after a couple weeks of "boring", standard shows in Europe!
Here is a classic version of Thunder Road from No Nukes. There weren't really music videos back then,so the No Nukes movie marked the first time the public at large was introduced to Live Bruce...
This is a brand new you tube upload of a classic performance of Blood Brothers. The video is grainy in spots, but the final verse with the entire ESB front and center is awesome.
For some reason this wasn't included on the official NYC DVD release, which is a shame. The show is from 2000,but the glimpse they show of Danny at the end is positively erie.Especially in light of the way BB was used in the Danny memorials last Spring.
