Springsteen worked in a few bars of 'Louie Louie' to close out what was arguably the best show of the tour thus far. Bravo, Bruce
When it's all over they will say Bonnaroo was the best show of the tour.
I hope your right!
Im digging the setlists for the tour so far, Im actually glad that there not playing much of WOAD or Magic because im not a fan of either of those albums.
For anyone that hasn't seen this, here is the pro shot excerpt from Johnny 99 (Denver) that was posted on BS.net.My first view of the WOAD version of Johnny, and imo it is heads and shoulders above the arrangement I saw on the Rising tour.I especially like the way you can actually hear (and discern) the lyrics, and the way it's really a full band collaboration.

Is this Man really 60 yrs old????
No, he is 59 and more than a half... gosh, get your facts straight!!
I am going to the show in Atlanta two weeks from yesterday and I can't wait. I'm not really sure how my virgin friends will like the lack of "hits," but I have warned them and hopefully they'll still be as captivated as I was my first time

trippy avatar image vandyfan me likes, we still should meet up or hang out I live in atlanta and will probably be attending the bruce show, my guy wasn't able to hook me up with a ticket because he's not flying in for the show, but i plan on scoring a scalped ticket.

That sucks that your connection isn't coming this time around. I finally got the 4 GAs I needed off of BTX, but the Atlanta ticket is a lot harder than normal since he isn't playing any Florida dates on this leg. However, I'm sure that there will plenty available in the coming weeks.
I'm still not sure about camping out for Bruce or not. On one hand, I don't really want to leave my friends who I'm sure won't be up for standing around all day considering that they "don't like" Bruce, but on the other hand, I'm not sure I'll be able to enjoy the rest of the day knowing that I am wasting an opportunity to be up front.
I've got a question for you more experienced roo goers.. are we going to be behind a barricade and is Bruce going to be able to get off the stage and get close enough to sweat on all of us? ;D

There is a barricade, but at last year's Pearl Jam show, Eddie Vedder got off the stage and passed a bottle of wine around to the front row during Crazy Mary (I think). So I'm sure the Boss could do the same, if he chooses to.

Is it possible Bruce could use his own extension? Reason I say this is because the stage for the post Euro part of the Magic tour was a far cry from what I saw earlier on the US arena leg.If Bruce's crew could modify the stage at places like the Sommet in Nashville, and the Scott Trade in St Louis,is there any reason they couldn't do that for the 'Roo show?
Seems like they could do it overnight, and then the Bands preceding Bruce could either use it or not.Pretty sure they used it at Harley, which didn't have other Bands using the stage on Sat. But there were other shows on Friday night,so I'm thinking the rennovations occurred over night Fri to Sat AM...
those videos with morello are amazing. if he came out and did that with bruce, it would be amazing. he came out and ripped an amazing solo with tool in 07 and if he did the same with bruce in 09 id love it. morello is easily one of the most inventive original guitarists ever
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

I'm pretty confident we're gonna get an Elvis Costello guest spot at Roo. They're both scheduled for Saturday, and they've played together in the past.
So getting back to the barrier issue.. Does anyone seriously think that Bruce will let a minor inconvenience like a "barrier" limit his interaction with folks in the Pit at an outdoor show? I mean we are talking The BOSS here!!
Check this out from last summer in Barcelona, and imagine this scene at 'Roo...
Oh, I don't doubt that he will interact with the crowd. That's what he does better than anyone, and we all know he is an attention whore.
However, in the Barcelona clip that is his stage which "he designs/chooses" so that he has easy access down to where the crowd is by the steps and catwalks into the pit. It was pretty much the same stage being used for the few U.S. stadium shows as well. The impression I get here is that he will just be using the What Stage as it is and isn't going to be bringing his own stage like he does on normal tour dates. I guess what I was wondering is whether or not the big acts alter the staging in any way.
Here is a clip from Pearl Jam's performance and you can see the gap between stage and crowd well...

Curious why you think he won't use the extension that he will have been using in the Euro stage shows, that 'Roo falls in the middle of?They finish in Bergen on Wed night, and his crew is very adept at "building" the extension, and will be well into a month or so of building it in successive cities for upcoming shows...
I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure they used it at Harley, which really wasn't a Magic show. There is a you tube vid out there of the preparations for the Fenway Park shows, that shows the construction of the stage.IIRC,that took close to a week, but that was in a baseball park in the outfield where concerrts had never before been held.
Here we're just talking about an extension to a standard stage, not really any different than any of the other outdoor shows the crew has been setting up for.I don't have anything official, but I'd imagine that this typoe of arrangement is locked into the licensing agreement- Bruce's people are usually pretty thorough...
Yeah, I am pretty sure that Bruce's stage was used for Harley, but I think it was used for all the performers.
I don't think that it couldn't be done. I am just wondering if there is precedent for acts altering the stage at Bonnaroo in the past.
Well there isn't exactly a precedent for Bruce playing 'Roo either... ;D
If the stage area is closed off after the late night, then they could easily transform the stage overnight from Fri to Sat.I think that's what they did at Harley, although not having Bands playing all day on Sat would be different than the situation at 'Roo.
I realize that some bands would likely be intimidated by the idea of using the ramp, and would rather stay on the stage where they are comfortable. But imo, they wouldn't HAVE to use the ramp, although I assume Bruce would allow them to if they wanted.
Or if need be they could likely block access to the ramp for the earlier bands,it's not like people would necessarily be EXPECTING them to come into the Pit.But I just can't see Bruce agreeing to interupt the Euro leg and come thousands of miles to play 'Roo, and eliminate an essential element of his show.I could be wrong, but imo it just wouldn't make a lot of sense...
Bruce's Live At Madison Garden(2001) was just on VH-1 classics. It made me think Bruce's show would be good for a drinking game. Everytime Bruce counts to four during the show you have to take a shot. You will be trashed by the end of his performance.

Just got back from tonights show in Atlanta and was killer as usual, highlights Badlands, Darkness on the Edge of Town, 96 tears (request sign in audience), Trapped (request), Jungle Land (request). The Wrestler, and the closing song of the night which was a mashup of devil in a blue dress, cc rider and other songs I've forgotten. Jay Weinberg took over drumming randomly throughout the show for Max which was a way to prep him for the future shows when Max isn't there. Jay was good but I felt he was playing too fast for some of the songs, as always high energy throughout the show at the end some 8 year old kid was thrown up on stage by his dad got to dance around before being taken off. I can't wait for the Roo show but the only thing that I worry about is the stage Bruce loves to be level with the crowd so he can get down there and shake hands and put the mic up to there mouths to get the crowd singing along but with the bonnaroo stage being high off the ground its gonna be a bit different of a show.
My Review: I got to play the guitar during Born to Run... need I say more?
BTW: I was right next to the blond kids. At the end of the show, Bruce knelt down and told their mother that he was getting somebody to bring them backstage. Is there a cooler rock star out there?

awesome vandyfan, so were you near the kid who got to jump on the stage at the end of the show? How early did u get to the show to wait in line to get into the pit for General admission, last time I was in the pit I was there waiting at 10am.
And everbody else in Atlanta for rockin the joint.Don't know who brought the trapped sign, but he's a Hero,in my book. And this guy did an awesome job of recording from The Pit.
If you don't love this song, you ain't breathing...

Yeah, I was standing right next to his mom. They don't do the pit in the same way they did during the Rising tour where you had to wait all day. Now, anybody who shows up before 5 w/ a GA ticket gets a numbered wristband and then they pick a number out of a jar and the person with the "winning number" gets to go in first. It's a whole process. Great for those people who can't wait around all day, but sucks for those that want to be up front and are willing to wait around all day.
I'm thinking maybe we should do an inforoo poll on what song we(as a group) would like to request. We could do the poll and then try to get that request through to Bruce.
What songs would you suggest? Fair warning, if you say I'm On Fire or Born To Run, I will custie you.
