The only thing that worries me is now my mom might come to Bonnaroo.
:Dhahahaha so so funny jess!
Bruce is someone that I have always felt like an ass for not getting....i have said so many times "I just can't figure out what all the hype is about!" But i realize with every passing year that it MUST be something that i just ain't hearing cause he is so hella popular. I have tried to force myself to listen and get all up into it but i just don't get it...
don't get me wrong i will go and catch the end of his set and I do enjoy some of his music but i would DEF rather have the Dead or alot of other bands if not the Dead...just an opinion
i started with this... and i'm currently re-loading it onto my ipod. i only knew a few songs when i got this collection a few years ago. i reckon i'd recommend it if you've never really listened before...
i personally would rather see bruce on saturday night with phish playing a latenight set and a regular headlining set on either friday or sunday...
someone said it earlier...
fri: modern band sat: bruce, phish latenight sun: phish
i'd like that very much...
edit: and may God help the author of this thread if Bruce doesn't play bonnaroo...

Im sure the essential Springsteen has a lot of great tracks on it. But to really capture the energy a live recording is the place to start. With the E Street Band - check out Live in Barcelona, Live in NYC, or Hammersmith.
There is also the Live in Dublin recording with the Seeger Sessions Band which is excellent but a little different from what I would expect him to play at Roo.
The only thing that worries me is now my mom might come to Bonnaroo.
Hahahaha... thank you for that.....
I'm pretty stoked for this, I grew up with the Boss, this is the first time I am excited for a headliner in years. I think this roo might be pretty epic...got my fingers crossed

Me too! I think tis year will be "epic"!!

This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
I have tried numerous times to listen to Springsteen but he just doesn't do it for me. I have been hoping this rumor was false but it's time to accept The Boss. I can definitely tell you I will not miss his set. He is definitely an icon and I think he will bring good things to Roo.
Whatever your feelings on Bruce Springsteen - recording artist, his live shows are legendary. I've never had a chance to see him so I'm excited.
On a side-note, there may still be an outside chance of a Thursday headliner. Maybe:
Thursday: My Morning Jacket Friday: Phish Saturday: Phish Sunday: Springsteen
Also, along with the possibility of adding The Dead into the mix as a headliner, there is always the ever-present possibility of the Dave Mattews Band (or some Dave permutation). I would think that the chances would increase with Trey on the farm and Dave taking the last two Roos off.
But if I had to commit to one scenario I'd put my money on Springsteen for Friday and Phish for Saturday and Sunday.
When I was younger in my college years, Bruce was at the top of his popularity and I really didn't like him. I just didn't think he lived up to the hype. After maturing a bit and having life kick me in teeth a few times, Springsteen made a great deal more since to me. Over time I've grown to be a much bigger fan.
I can guarantee one thing about his show at Bonnaroo. Nobody that entire weekend is going to work harder to entertain us.

I'm not a Boss fan, but I'm familiar with a lot of his stuff. My mom was diagnosed with leukemia last March (she's actually doing great, thanks). This meant that she was unable to see Springsteen with my step dad, as her immunities were non-existent. I went in her stead so that my step dad could have a break from the impending trying times. I never would have gone on my own. I got an amazing show for my troubles. The guy puts his all into it and I recommend going in with open ears, no matter what you think of the man.
My last Bruce experience was here in Richmond. He opened with Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out and ran straight into Radio Nowhere. I knew it was gonna be an awesome night. I got all my favorites that night (which isn't too hard to do with him). Hands down one of the best stage performers there is. I'm giddy at the possibilities of songs and guests.
Oh and I 3rd,4th,5th .. whatever... Start with Nebraska. I've said it before and I'll say it alot over the next few months. One of my two favorite records ever.
EDIT : I know they havn't been rumored but what about the Black Crowes>Springsteen. I can see that happening.

Karma point = given.
Only because I can now imagine my mom wanting to see the Boss too. When I was in high school, my mom thought "Born in the USA" was the single greatest album in the entire world.

this is the way I am with dave. in high school, he was a douche, after i got to college and back home i started listening to his stuff. what a songwriter! even if you dont like his music, his lyrics speak for themselves.
ive always like bruce but never really got into'em. like mulchies said, download commence! ;D
YES! Very good album, probably my fav of his. But like others have said if your just getting into him listen to some boots or check out one of the dvds he has out, thats what really helped me get into the boss.
So, you Springsteen fans... what album would you suggest to start with, for a guy like me who knows little more than a few major songs here and there, like Born in the USA and The Rising?

Start off with the album 'Born To Run' as that's considered his magnum opus. Personally I'm more of a fan of 'Greetings, From Asbury Park' and 'The Wild, The Innocent, and The E Street Shuffle'. Hopefully, he'll play his early work (as it's better) with a mixture of his later work. But I thought 'Magic' was a good album and his best song on it was not Radio Nowhere.
