Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'll go ahead and say that the 2008 lineup was FAR weaker than this lineup.
I'll also go ahead and say that of the last 4 years (2006-2009), 2008 was probably the worst lineup of the 4.
I still had a great time, but, musically speaking, 2008 would probably rank 2nd to last behind all the Bonnaroo's I've been to. that list would look like this (this is from best to worst):

NIN, David Byrne, Down, etc more than makes up for my Phish apathy (smite! smite! smite!). I'll check it out, I'm sure it will be agreeable.
You're back up to 1 karma point erinroo! I'm wearing a pair of pressed slacks, have a ton of posts, and I'm still not going to penalize you for thinking differently than me.
I love that Snoop is going to be there, but could go without one of the Phish shows and definitely minus Springsteen. WOuld of loved to see WSP, MMJ, and Jack Johnson on the original line-up, though I'm hopeful that one will be added later.
see i dont get this... you either missed or really, really enjoyed 08?
why would you want a festival to repeat the bigger names on the lineup instead of trying to keep the lineup fresh
i very regrettably missed 07 but i would have been like wtf if in 08 i saw all the same names from the year before
"I'm not trying to knock the bands...I'm just sad."
Tear her apart! Her fault!
well, she clearly has yet to understand that the best part of Bonnaroo is not what gets you there, it's the stuff that you never expected to see that ends up blowing you away.
I have been exposed to so much at Bonnaroo that I would have never been exposed to if I shared the sentiment that there are only 3 bands worth seeing on the lineup.
The way I see it, Bonnaroo has done a TREMENDOUS job of staying on the tip of what is fresh and exciting about music in the 21st century. You may not know half the bands before you go, but you'd be a fool to leave that festival without having discovered a new band that you will love for life.
It seems simple to me. If you can't find something to see during every time slot, then you probably shouldn't go (unless you aren't going for the music to begin with). I must be in the minority here, but for me the '08 kicked ass.
It would be interesting to hear who you would ideally like to be on this year's lineup. Also, have you listened to any bands on the lineup that you haven't heard of to see if you like them or not?
If one uses the term indie rock as loosely as possible, Roo 2009 Indie Rock > Roo 2008 Indie Rock. And it's not even close. Plus, you have a chance this year to see three men who are arguably as influential on indie rock as any three living songwriters: Springsteen, Byrne and Costello.
Explore the bands mentioned above and remember that most years the headliners don't make or break the festival for most people.
i agre in '07 usd the police show time to eat dinner and take a much needed nap b4 thr lips show... and i boycotted tool... (mostly because i was pissed that the tools of tool mad it so i had to hide my camera because someone might snap a pick.. not thinking that i just wanted to take picturres of my hubby and friends during our honeymoon.... or that the trip wasn't about them....) but anyway the point is... you d\on't have to see every band, just be open t explore, and it that's not what you're about, then, i can see why you're sad... i just hope you open up, and like eeveryone else said check the bottom of the list... and maybe... you'll turn that frown upside down...

I did enjoy 08. But I missed MMJ, couldn't stay until WSP closed Sunday, and just really enjoyed the Jack Johnson lol.
I've been having lovely, peaceful, exciting Bonnaroo dreams for months now. I had an amazing, amazing time last year and have been looking forward to going back all year. But when I saw the lineup I nearly cried. Bruce Springstein, JayZ, Phish? I know Phish is really popular for Bonnaroo crowd, but I am not a fan. I'm so disappointed. I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like the lineup! The only bands I'd see are TV on the Radio, The Decemberists, and Of Montreal. Is anyone else sad and not going because of the lineup this year? Just curious. I'm not trying to knock the bands...I'm just sad.
Just stop being a complete and utter d-bag and you won't have a problem. You didn't even bother to learn the actual lineup. Just go away, no one wants you there anyway.

You're either funny or prone to blatant assholery. It's okay that she doesn't like the lineup and that she got one act out of the initial lineup wrong. You don't have to be insulting.
Here is my advice..go and give everyone a listen. Last year we did not go based on Metallica (not that I totally dislike them) and Kanye West.
Big mistake....There it was Thursday night, Friday night Oh and Saturday night and Ginger and I were like...we should have went...This sucks..
I'm not a huge fan of Bruce..no But I do respect him and will give a listen. No one makes you watch anyone. There is lots to to and see so again go and give a listen..

You're ruining bonnaroo. Now it's broken. I hope you're happy.

It is unfathomable to me that a music fan could be unhappy with this lineup. I just don't get it. I guess I should be saying "to each their own" or "they can't please everyone all the time" or "it's OK not to like the lineup", but I can't bring myself to do it. I feel this need to repair defective taste. I guess I'm not really on board the whole "everyone's opinion is valid" train. I think some peoples opinions suck. That's my opinion.
I mean fuck this year the only reason i going to th e roo this year is the musici I live 45 min. from marvins mountain i can vibe out there all weekend but i love the music at roo this year.
