I've been having lovely, peaceful, exciting Bonnaroo dreams for months now. I had an amazing, amazing time last year and have been looking forward to going back all year. But when I saw the lineup I nearly cried. Bruce Springstein, JayZ, Phish? I know Phish is really popular for Bonnaroo crowd, but I am not a fan. I'm so disappointed. I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like the lineup! The only bands I'd see are TV on the Radio, The Decemberists, and Of Montreal. Is anyone else sad and not going because of the lineup this year? Just curious. I'm not trying to knock the bands...I'm just sad.
^ Yeah, that's news to me too. And erinroo, I respect your opinion but I don't understand how you couldn't find some nuggets on the lineup that save it for you. Obviously, I'm stoked about Phish, but I would think that someone near the top would be appealing. Maybe you should wait for the Roth lineup and check it out, or go to 10k Lakes.

you may be....
if you like those bands it really seems like there are some bands on that list you should check out. yeasayer, animal collective, mgmt? about all else i could say is keep your ear to the ground for other fests. pitchfork, atp, rothbury?
i was sad about last year's lineup, but i went and had a blast finding new music. its great to see band you know, but its the new music that really gets me.

This line-up rules face and we haven't even gotten the artist additions yet. Already they have blown last year's line-up out of the water - there is no comparison.
No offense, but you don't even have the line-up correct, how can you be critical of it?
And if you have to question Phish being at Bonnaroo, then you really don't understand the festival.

JayZ? Que es eso??
Just hold out for a while and see if you like some additions. I can't say I agree but I see what you're saying. And hell, give the bands you don't know a test-run. You might just find a new love. Don't write 'Roo off just like that. I'm willing to bet you'd still have an amazing time.
I absolutely have no interest in seeing the top headlining bands that you pointed out as well but that means nothing to me. Almost every other band on the list are fantastic though. To me this is one of the best lineups I have ever seen for a music festival in years just because of all the smaller acts. I don't know how many of the bands on the lineup you have listened to at all but if you haven't heard of a lot of them maybe you should check them out first.
If u like TV on the Radio, Decemberists, and Of Montreal I would imagine you would also enjoy Yeah Yeah Yeahs, MGMT, Band of Horses, and Grizzly Bear as they are all loosely in the same vein and I am fans of them all. 2008 was my first year as well (main draws were Raconteurs, MMJ, Plant/Krausse, and MGMT) and i couldnt be more excited about the initial. Also if Jay Z was the only problem.............
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

To echo the sentiments of others expressed above, it sounds like you love Bonnaroo and had a tremendous experience last year, just like the rest of us have whenever we go. Also like the rest of us, you're probably not familiar with all of the bands on the lineup. Three bands that you want to see is actually a good start. Check out the ones others have suggested above, as well as the ones near the bottom of the list that no one has mentioned in this thread, but some of which are discussed in other threads on this board. The "Artist Directory Thread" is a great resource. Look up the bands that sound cool on Youtube. If you still can't find too many bands that you'd be interested in catching, then yeah, you might want to check out another festival.

Bands from the bottom of the list that go with the three bands she mentioned Portugal. The Man, Delta Spirit, Yeasayer. I'm not quite sure how someone likes the bands you listed and doesn't like the lineup.

...Hate is such a strong word, especially when describing anything bonnaroo, but its ok though, i know you meant to say you Love everything about the lineup.
but seriouly, check some of the bands people have been suggesting, some really good stuff.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

I agree. It is high time I start acting/posting as though I take lunch with Ashley Capps solely because I have a 1k+ post-count at Inforoo.com. I'm not even wearing a pair of pressed slacks as I post this. I need to get with the seriousness program.
Edit- this is in reference to the joke two posts above. Becca types too quick.

I love that Snoop is going to be there, but could go without one of the Phish shows and definitely minus Springsteen. WOuld of loved to see WSP, MMJ, and Jack Johnson on the original line-up, though I'm hopeful that one will be added later.

I don't get Phish either, but I haven't seen them in a festival setting yet.
Would I trade Phish for Radiohead? O hell yeah. But, it's all about keeping an open mind and I'm looking forward to the spectacle.
