The perfect, most ideal diet in the world *still will not remove all of the vectors for cancer*. Dr. Morse's claims are wild mis-interpretations of reality at best, and at worse outright fabrications. Chemotherapy is not "acids which melt your healthy cells". Radiation therapy is not dosing your entire body with radiation and triggering all of your healthy cells to become cancerous. I promise you, no matter how perfect your diet, no matter how many bad things you avoid, no matter how many days you spend in the gym, you will still have the potential to develop cancer. The reality is, our bodies are far from perfect systems, our diet is an accidental byproduct of our environment, and we have quite a few "adaptations" which work against us long-term.
Dr. Morse is someone who benefits from our natural fear of death and disease, by promising us that everyone else is wrong, and maybe if you drink this glass of juice, things will get better. I'm sorry, I really deeply and truly wish that were true. I would give anything in the world to be able to make what he says true, but it just isn't. Cancer isn't fair. It isn't kind. It doesn't just happen to the people who "deserve it". It happens to kids. It happens to people who never smoked, drank or ate red meat. It happens to the young and the old. It's an awful, terrible and frightening thing. But there is hope, and people do survive it, but it's just not as simple as Dr. Morse would like to make it.
You should have a healthy diet for more than just fear of death though, you should have a healthy diet so you can enjoy *life*. Eat what lets you be active and enjoy the days you do have, eat what lets you avoid becoming so overweight, weak and unhealthy that you spend the last 40 years of your life in front of the TV. Eat to live.
Although I respect you're opinion, I strongly disagree. I've learned a lot from just watching his videos and this guy definitely knows what he's talking about. He's been healing people for 40 plus years and there are a lot of testimonies to back it up. To judge his knowledge based on one 30+ minute video is silly. He never said "maybe if you drink a glass of juice things will get better". He's a licensed physician and has his own clinic. He just chooses to heal people naturally, which has a much higher success rate. Facts are facts, he's not the one who's killing millions a year with chemicals. I think he hits the nail right on the head, people are too caught up in the bs that is shoved down our throats by modern medicine, and people are only getting sicker. It would be one thing if cancer rates and other illnesses were dropping, but they are sadly multiplying. Look at how many hospitals are out there, and clinics, and medical schools, yet more and more people are sick and dying at a rapid pace. When I was a kid cancer seemed kind of rare, now it's everywhere. The problem is that doctors are being taught the same basic methods, even though they have a high failure rate. Of course I'm referring to the medicine side of it.
Dr Robert Morse also preaches love and to enjoy life, he's not a fear mongerer. He's just trying to wake people up to realize that there is a solution and not to be fooled by what's being force fed by modern medicine. You don't have to watch many of his videos to realize that this guy has our best interests at heart and he has the knowledge to help.
There is no natural cure for cancer. Without modern medicine, the 5-year survival rate is under 10%. The mortality rate of cancer is on the decline due to advances in modern medicine. Incidences of cancer today are higher than 40 years ago, but that's to be expected with an aging population.
Dr. Morse doesn't do this out of the goodness of his heart, he makes a crap ton of money from sick people and people who don't trust big pharma. He charges $795 for "detox clinics", sells books, supplements, etc... He's not a charity worker. What I'm telling you isn't an opinion, its hard fact. This guy is a quack who makes money from anecdotal evidence and "testimony". He is in this for money no matter how nice, caring or open he may appear.
No amount of diet, detox or herbal medicine stops cancer, that's why cancer sucks.
Your giant warning sign for quackery is someone telling you they can cure or prevent anything. Real studies show a change in incidence and will give you mortality rates at 1, 3, 5, 10, etc years. If you see words like " detox", hide your wallet and look for real studies.

Again, this is just your opinion. There is in fact a natural cure for cancer, I've met people first hand, not to mention my own father who have reversed it naturally. Are Dr T. Colin Campbell or Dr Caldwell Esselstyn quacks? They also believe that diet can cure cancer, along with a lot of very successful doctors. I've known plenty of people who had chemo and radiation, the common thing is that's when they start really getting sick. Most people are fine until the treatment starts.
Of course Dr Morse gets paid, he's a doctor and is making a living like the rest of us. Tell me what doctor doesn't? You think $795 is a lot of money? Are you serious? Wow. Do you know how much treatment costs elsewhere? Modern medicine is a whole lot of guessing and a whole lot money making. You know when doctors don't know what they're doing when they call it an autoimmune disease, which there are a lot of. The body is not attacking itself, it's trying to do what nature designed it to do and that's heal itself. The quacks are the ones making trillions of dollars off of the lives off of innocent, trusting people. Why does chemo destroy the bone marrow? It's poison. And radiation? It causes cancer so why would it be used to kill cancer? It kills everything, not just cancer cells.
Do you realize that we all have cancer cells and it's part of our immune system? That's where tumors come from. Tumors are a deposit of garbage in the body that couldn't be removed via the lymphatic system which is basically the gutters of the body. What happens when your gutters are clogged and more leaves fill the gutters? Eventually they get so clogged that the problem spreads. Same principal. If you have a tumor and continue to eat garbage, the tumor will collect the garbage and continue to grow. Stop eating the garbage and the tumor will stop growing, start eating healing foods like fruit and herbs, and the lymphatic system will start getting cleaned out and start functioning properly eventually shrinking the tumor. When most people die they have some form of tumors in their body. If everybody was screened for cancer, there'd be a lot of scared people.
We obviously have very different opinions on this matter. I'm going to stick with natural healing, which I've felt the benefits of first hand. Hopefully one day people will at least start to question the insanity of the drug pushers and the FDA, and realize their true motives.
To get back to the "just eat good stuff" portion of the conversation, this thread inspired me to go shopping on my lunch break yesterday.
Got frozen fruit and yogurt to get back on the smoothie tip; even bought kale to mix in.
The masterpiece was the 'alfredo' pasta. Boil a head of cauliflower broken into florets. Puree in food processor with a very little olive oil. This is the base; can be used for anything.
Sautee garlic and some kind of bell pepper. Add cauliflower mix, some heavy cream and parmesan. Simmer and let things meld. Save some of the cooking water from pasta you have prepared to add to saucepan for desired consistency. Season as preferred.
Pour over pasta and place up your face.
I'm hungover, so that's the best I can do for a recipe right now.
I bought a grill (yay!) and I know grilling is easy but I need explicit instructions. What are the best ways to grill veggies and what are some other favs you want to share?

Cut up vegetables. Put them in aluminum foil. Pour in some salad dressing. Wrap it up. Toss it on the grill.

Make sure to oil/spray the foil well. I did not the first time and everything stuck to the foil
I've done potatoes/sweet potatoes (cut into small bit size pieces) and onions and garlic. Add some kind of blended seasoning, or blackened or cajun seasoning. It came out well.

corn - gently pull back husk (don't remove) and remove silks. brush cob with olive oil and smooth husk back down. grill for 20ish min and roll over 3 or 4 times so it grills evenly. when taking off the grill, hold the bottom of the cob with tongs and peel husk down; take a (paper) towel or paper plate and hold the bare cob in one hand while you twist off the peeled husk with the other hand. NOTE: i know people who just husk those suckers and throw them on, and it cooks of course, but i think it dries it out a little.
asparagus - toss in olive oil, cracked pepper and sea salt. grill for 15ish minutes or desired crunchiness (more time, less crunch, and vice versa)
Hawaiian Chicken Kabobs: this is my gf's favorite dish that i grill 1/2 c. soy sauce 1 c. pineapple juice 1/4 c. brown sugar 1/8 tsp. garlic powder 1/8 tsp. onion powder 1/4 tsp. ground ginger 1 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice
if you're eating meat with the kabobs, you can pour some of the mixture over it the night before as a marinade, and alternate meat hunks on skewers with veggies and pineapple. otherwise, load up your skewers with veggies (i typically use a variety of bell peppers, red onion, squash, zucchini, mushrooms, and cherry tomatoes) and pineapple (fresh is 100x better than canned). brush the soy mixture over the kabobs while grilling and turning - probably 20-25 min total. serve over rice, quinoa, whatever. i typically do brown rice or quinoa.
I just got weighed at the doctors & I've lost 15 pounds since February. I don't weigh myself anymore because it depresses me, and I dread stepping on the scale at the doctors. But today I actually smiled when I saw the number. I still have a loooong way to go, but that was encouraging.

Nice!! I have about 10-15 to lose and I am just sucking at getting it done. I know what I need to do and what works for me. I just cannot get my shit together

I haven't worked out in 8 days because of everything that has been going on. Awful excuse and I feel bad about it. I'm the type where I HAVE to stay in the zone. Breaks and I don't get along very well. Must. Get. Back. In. Gym.

Just some food for thought, if you take the scale out of the equation it might be easier to stick to a routine. If you say, I want to be able to run this many miles, do this many pullups, eat healthy for this stretch of time before taking a cheat, I find it a lot less stressful than trying to say I want to lose a specific amount of weight. I wrestled in high school and college and that scale was so damn important to me, check at night and then again in the morning, even as an adult when there was no weigh in to worry about. Sometimes you do everything right, you look better, you feel better, but you either don't lose weight, or gain some.
I guess what I'm saying is, not never check, but other goals are good too, and if it doesn't say what you want it to, don't let it get derailed.

Stick to it. I really haven't done anything too drastic. I've cut my portions in half, stopped getting fast food as much and have been eating more fruits and veggies when I'm hungry. I have a gym membership, but am too busy to go so I do my hula hooping for about an hour a day. Maybe not all at one time, but I do it as often as I can. If I'm watching TV, I hoop in my living room.
I really gave up on it honestly, but lately a few people have comment that I seemed to be losing weight. I didn't see it, and didn't want to get on that awful scale. But today at the doctors I was so happy to see that I'm apparently doing something right. It felt pretty damn good!

After seeing how much weight I was down after not checking in so long these are def the types of goals I'm going to continue to set for myself. Like you said, it's so much less stressful to not be constantly striving for a number. I mean, yes, I have a goal number in mind. But I'm not going to obsess over the number anymore. If I continue to make the right changes, the numbers will follow.

the past few days i've been drinking a bottle of water with some apple cider vinegar in it, and it does give me energy, though i don't know if that's because of its amazing properties or the simple fact that every now and then i'm taking a big drink of f-ing vinegar.
drinking it makes me feel like laura ingalls wilder

I've actually heard this before and need to look into it more.
I'm going to attempt to make some smoothies next week. I'll let you all know how it goes!
Also, I've made an appointment to get my thyroid checked. Thyroid problems run in my family, and over the past year, I have been starting to show signs of an underactive thyroid. I was hoping exercise and a new diet would help, but in the six months since I've started, I can't tell a difference. I'm still tired all of the time, which in turn makes me grouchy (sorry if you've had to encounter me in the past year or so). If it turns out that I do have hypothyroidism, I can get treat so I'll have increased energy to work out and hopefully lose some more weight.

So, I've only been able to make it to the gym once since I've moved. But I have been keeping up with my running (well, sort of). But today I went and did some Muay Thai training and I loved it. And holy cow it was a workout. I do believe that may be my gym substitute for a while. At least until they get tired of the awkward white guy flailing around.

I'm going to keep checking in on this thread, but I am sucking at this so bad I have a few good days, where I try extra hard, then I go to a restaurant and ruin everything for the week.... So tired of my laziness and lack of motivation and will power. No matter how much I try to put mind of matter and get it together, I just cannot. I've been stuck at around 141 lbs for months, so I only need to lose about 10-12 lbs, but damn it should not be this hard. It's been way harder since I hit my mid 40s. I'm just going to blame my age, because I really have no other excuse!!

I've been doing pretty good at keeping up with running the last few weeks. I think I may need to invest in some kind of knee brace/support though. Old injuries are starting to show their heads. Had to cut my run short yesterday because of it.

Restaurants are really hard. This week alone I've had three meals out for business purposes and then today I have both lunch AND dinner paid for at restaurants for work purposes. I mean, it's great and I'm glad I get to eat out for free, but it's so hard to manage your calories. Even the veggies get covered in some sauce that I'm sure is mostly butter! I am going to try hard today to go for small portions and outside of my two restaurant meals, not eat too many calories. Green tea is my friend. So is eating a whole head of iceburg lettuce. It's strangely satisfying...

I've been drinking green tea at work to curb my appetite and it helps. I've eaten food from a restaurant twice this week and am going out again for lunch today. I normally do not go out at lunch but a friend is coming in from out of state, so I had to go. Sigh. NEED to lose weight before Bonnaroo!!!!

There are a few things I've learned to curb hunger when I know I've already had enough calories for the time being (be sure you're getting enough calories a day...you should only be racking up a 500 calorie deficit at most per day).
Green tea is definitely one of them. Or really any tea you can drink without having to put sugar in it.
I put almonds in dried plums (aka prunes). It's an ideal mix of fiber, protein and carbs and tends to quell cravings after just a few.
You can also put hot sauce on everything. If you use enough of it, hot sauce makes you eat less and feel fuller during a meal. My go-to is Siracha.
Look up these things called Miracle Noodles. They are sold via Amazon and in some health stores. They are made from mushroom fibers and have basically no calories. They also have no taste if you rinse them in a colander before cooking them. Those + an egg + peanut sauce = 100 calorie meal that feels like 400 calories.
