Thanks y'all! I'm going to try the couch to 5k thing but I'll probably have to modify if because I'm already pretty okay with running a 5k. There are times when I have to slow it down but I can manage it.
There's a 5k-10k app too haha. I think they even have a marathon one.
When i started about 40 days ago i was barely able to get 2 miles down before i was in need of a IV drip, but now I am running 3-5 miles every other day. This upcoming week i make it 3 miles a day till I'm back on the farm. Thanks everyone for the motivation.
Also, does anyone know if they're still planning on doing a 5k this year?
The 5k info is still on the website, but it's for 2013. I'm guessing at some point theyll decide not to do it and remove it.

I think the couch to 5k is a great beginner program.
Also grass/dirt/trails are great to run on, but if you have to choose between concrete or asphalt, asphalt is slightly better (so they say). Take it slow, your legs will hate you for a while but they'll get used to it.

I weighed today. I am 98% sure that I am now at a weight that is lower than it has ever been for Roo. I am 100% sure that it is lower than it has been since I started hanging out with you guys. Good times.
Edit: 2 miles straight walking on my steep ass hill without stopping once. This shatters the old record.
I bought a grill (yay!) and I know grilling is easy but I need explicit instructions. What are the best ways to grill veggies and what are some other favs you want to share?
I bought a grill basket last year and it is AWESOME for grilling veggies
I am a full blown sugar addict. I've done well today and plan that tomorrow I will hit the clean eating program hard (had to enjoy some fro yo today). how long will I be insane without sugar? I am also in the last two weeks of school and things are INSANE so I'm a little nervous about it but I'm up for the challenge.

I am just worried, Dave Maynar, that your male Inforoo fanbase will expand exponentially with the more fit you become. You might not be able to go any show without multiple men groveling at your feet. You might trip. This could be a health hazard.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

It's good to know that you are watching out for me. I might pack my safety equipment from work just to be sure.

lately i'm either eating paleo or eating the worst thing i can find. but i made some deviled eggs this weekend by using some leftover guac instead of mayo and it worked great. in the future i would probably just use the avocado and onion with a little lime juice and forego the cilantro for egg purposes, but it was a nice version of something i haven't had in a while.
i need to think of some new shit to eat at lunch. i'm SO sick of salads. i made a huge one for lunch today and finished it on principle, but i was making shitty faces the whole time.
Avocado in a deviled egg... I like the sound of that! Lately, I have been using Greek yogurt instead of mayo, but that's not Paleo if that's what you're going for, obviously. I usually only make those for company... but you've kinda inspired me to make it for me, myself and I!
And as far as lunch ideas. No said you have to eat your veggies raw. Bake/saute/grill.broil up a big portion of a few and bring them to for a few lunchs. Or think outside of the box for your lunch- I throw everything from chili to leftover thai food on top of a pile of spinach and call it a salad. But it's SO different that I kind of forget that it is!

This! I suffer from a sugar addiction and I think people don't really understand how bad it can be. I tried to cut sugar out of my diet completely and I got horrible headaches and felt insane for like 4 or 5 days before I felt better, cleaner. I recommend that if you're ditching sugar completely you do it by loading up on natural sugar from citrus fruits (higer natural sugar, sweeter taste) in the first few days then slowly cutting back from that. It's hard so I'm here cheering you on!

yeah i LOVE grilled/sauteed veggies so i don't know why i haven't brought them for lunch - i will!
i typically don't like meat in salads, but it may be time to expand my horizons for the sake of variety; and who knows, maybe i'll change my mind. i've come around on quite a few food items in the past 3 or 4 years.
You know how I know I work with science nerds? We recently had a corporate-wide Biggest Loser competition. Our office competed both with other offices around the state. We competed with each other within our office. To protect anonymity, everyone chose a code name for it. I chose Tom Creo because The Fountain is the shit. The second place finisher? Nomo Gneiss Guy. Nothing like a good metamorphic rock reference.
Have only cheated once in a week and a half. Tracking everything i consume and have lost nothing, so frustrating. Not giving up but man i feel like i am damned if i do and damned if i dont

How big is your caloric deficit? Most people can realistically only hope to lose .5 lb/week. It takes time!! Stay patient

I'm 27 - 5ft 7in. I weigh 153.. but I'm not very active. I've been jogging, doing about 30 mins of cardio workouts about 4-5 days a week. Just trying to get in shape in time for Roo. Cause last year, I noticed my energy levels were waaaay lower than I want them to be. I was finding myself getting tired and just worn down more than the years before.
Anyways, I've been exercising fairly consistently for about 3 months now. Not really eating "healthier" or anything.. just cutting back my portion sizes. Also cutting out that late night meal helps out a lot as well. I've lost only about 5 pounds, and that's cutting down on calories, drinking only water and the occasional sugar free red bull.. I'm fairly lean, I just wanted to cut down on this lil beer gut I've adopted the last year or so. This month, since we only have 30 days.. I'm kicking up my workout routine a notch in hopes of losing at least another 3 or 5 lbs between now and Roo.

my app told me to eat 1300 daily. I'm trying to stay calm and not totally freak out. baby steps right?

My app told me the same.. just drink water.. it's the small things, like cutting back on beers, chips, colas, etc. I still get Taco Bell, but I just go for a couple tacos and no Mnt.Dew.. Instead of getting the Nacho Bell Grande and eating ALL of it AND the taco supreme AND the large fountain drink. Changing your portion size and drinking water in place of soft drinks helps a ton. That and just basic exercises you can do at home, like jog, jumping jacks, push ups, sit ups. You should be fine. Keep it up!

Yeah. Just stay the course and help yourself where you can. If you got nothing to do, do something active even if it is light impact kind of stuff. It takes time to get stuff switched over.

chin up, results will come. what you eat this month is your body next month. keep going, you're doing great!
I've finally started my five mile walks today with the double stroller. Much later than years past because of the super cold weather we've been having.
I want to be ready for non stop walking just incase I win a contest and am able to leave my footprints(actual not carbon) all over the farm.

I've lost all the progress I made before leaving sadly. I've lost close to 10 lbs (my goal was to gain 25, and I was halfway there prior to leaving). It's a huge bummer. Hopefully I'll be able to start back on my gym routine this time next week. I haven't been able to run in over 2 weeks either.

When I started working out/eating better, it took a full month before I started to see results. I was really frustrated. But once it started coming off, it came off quickly! It takes time for your body to adjust to your new lifestyle. Keep at it, and know that I understand your frustration
