This is awesome you guys. Being in accounting, the January-April months are horror on my figure. After getting into a lot better shape last year and working out a lot, running, and lifting. Once tax season comes it all goes to hell.
I walk to work every day, so that's about an hour of exercise, (3 miles round trip). Does anyone have any awesome recipes for breakfast smoothies that are healthy and yummy? I'm trying to cut a lot of the bread/pasta out of my diet to get ready for roo
While I haven't tried this one (just found it yesterday), I am getting the ingredients tonight or tomorrow.
ChoKALEiciuos Smoothie:
2 cup loosely packed Kale 2 cup sweetened Dark Chocolate Almond Milk, 1 cup frozen strawberries 1/2 cup blackberries 1 banana 1 heaping tbsp. natural peanut butter 1 tbsp chia seeds

Me too. But the thing I've learned with smoothies is, you can't taste anything but the fruit! So it's a good way to smuggle in greens like kale that are nasty on their own.
Once you understand what makes a good smoothie, you don't really need a "recipe." You need:
-A liquid (water, "milk," juice, etc.) -Either ice or if you're using frozen fruit you'll be fine -Something sweet (some fruits are naturally sweet enough, or if you use sweetened milk alternatives, etc.) -Something proteinish and filling (yogurt, peanut butter...) -Whatever fruit/veggies you want (berries, apples, spinach...)
AND BOOM! A smoothie. I also always put cucumbers or celery in mine. It bulks up the total amount without bulking up the calories.

great ideas guys! i know i've heard a lot of things about diets and fads and all that, just wanted to do it the old fashioned way. Helps that I have an hour of built in exercise every day, and we're biking all the time here. One of the things I love about being in the city is it kind of forces you to get out of your little bubble (and get some exercise)
That Cruciferous Crunch stuff should quit its day job, buy a mask, and become a luchadore named El Terriblé. Just awful. Will throw the rest of it in a batch of smothered potatoes to cover taste. I am beginning to notice I don’t vary my food often. Being single, I have to eat a lot of whatever I make / buy. Tomorrow should be easy to hit my calorie mark – takin’ my mother out to dinner.
The stress i had at the end of school really screwed me up and I'm back to 175ish lbs, but that changes in the morning. I'm planning on drastically improving my diet, working out 4-5 times a week, and I just had my my last beer until Bonnaroo. It is time to stop fucking around and get really, truly healthy.

i've been under my calorie limit for the most part the past few days, but i have not been exercising as i should. i did cheat a little and have pita bread yesterday, but if a chicken gyro is the way i cheat, that's probably not too bad.
the gym reopens next week so i'll get back there on monday, but i need to get my ass out on my bike or something in the meantime.
i'm gonna try that tip about cucumber/celery in the smoothie! thanks!
Been kicking ass with the food choices! No plans of working out anytime soon. Walking is as far as i can go. At this size my knee (literally held together w/ two screws and some permanent stitches) will hate me forever! however, its amazing how much of a difference just changing your earing habits can make.

That's a solid plan. My doctor stressed about a thousand times that I should hold off on trying to run until I hit a lower weight (not sure what that is btw, I needs to look it up). He said he had several patients who went all gung-ho running when they were too overweight, and they ended up blowing their knee out or something and ended up gaining back all their weight while they were laid up with the injury.
I've been slacking on the exercise lately. However, I've noticed that I'm not gaining weight back because I'm still eating well. I honestly think the smoothies have helped with that.
I plan to get out on the greenway today and spend some time walking/jogging (NO RUNNING). Finally not raining outside!
70% eating clean, 30% in the gym -- You can not exercise and if you're making better food choices, you'll still see a difference. (and feel a lot better too!)

I spell it omelette, but I know Cheesecake spells it omelet. The first way is the French spelling, but I don't really know if it's incorrect or just less used.

So I got this....it's pretty awesome. You freeze peeled bananas and any other fruit and then shove them down the phallic shoot and voila....ice cream made out of bananas. It tastes creamy like ice cream but it's just....fruit. Comes with a bunch of recipes if you want to get fancy. Coffee chocolate chip, mint chocolate chip. I'm about to go broke buying fruit.

I have been looking for an excuse to get a food processor, I'm sure you could do it just as well with that

Be careful with juicing/food processing, especially fruit. It ends up being really bad for you, just pure sugar (more sugar is fruit than soda). Eating a solid fruit is much preferable because the fiber remains in tact which makes it so you don't have such a sudden spike in BP.

I figure it's all about eating healthier than I normally would. I'm not trying to lose a ton of weight or anything. I'm guessing a fruit smoothie is better than going at a Gallon of PB cup chocolate ice cream with a spoon.
Apparently food processors aren't water proof... thoughts? Anyone know of something good that can do both?

i have the ninja master prep pro; it was a christmas gift several years ago and i love it. it will blend or process pretty well and is easy to clean. i've used it quite a bit, and the blades are still sharp enough to cut you through the dishtowel when you're drying if you aren't careful!
i'm so frustrated with myself because i'd been doing so well, and then old friends came to town and i drank with them - which is fine; what wasn't fine was drunk me eating 2 cupcakes, a piece of pizza, and a tiny slice of cheesecake. damn you, drunk me!
My goal for Bonnaroo is soooo close. It will happen soon, but I want it now!
Same here Petyr Baelish.. Been trying to work off this beer belly I gained over the winter! Check out some Garcinia Cambrogia. You can find it at Walgreens. It's completely natural and I can vouch that it does help burn access fat. I was working out daily and not getting anywhere, randomly saw the stuff on Dr Oz and decided to give it a try. Since I started taking it along with routine exercise I've dropped 10lbs in like 3 weeks EDIT: Totally didn't mean to sound like an infomercial hahah
