Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
My goal for Bonnaroo is soooo close. It will happen soon, but I want it now!
Same here Petyr Baelish.. Been trying to work off this beer belly I gained over the winter! Check out some Garcinia Cambrogia. You can find it at Walgreens. It's completely natural and I can vouch that it does help burn access fat. I was working out daily and not getting anywhere, randomly saw the stuff on Dr Oz and decided to give it a try. Since I started taking it along with routine exercise I've dropped 10lbs in like 3 weeks EDIT: Totally didn't mean to sound like an infomercial hahah
I got it handled. I am just in that phase now where it could theoretically happen the next time I get on the scale, so I, of course, want it to happen that next time.

i don't know if i'll hit my bonnaroo goal or not, but when i stepped on the scale this morning i was 15lbs down from my christmas weight and about 10lbs down since i started posting regularly on this thread, and i'm really encouraged by that.
going home for memorial day weekend is going to test my willpower. hopefully i'll be able to get the canoe out on the river and get some exercise; maybe that will counter the birthday dinner i know i'll be attending.
I was pleasantly surprised that I have lost 10 lbs since Wanee!! Didn't really set any specific goals other than just to be ready for Roo, but was amazed at what outdoor yard work, eating just a little better, and drinking only water (except coffee at work) can do!!
Hit my Roo goal this morning and I still really haven't gotten on pace with my workouts, I guess that means it was too easy. I think I can knock off another 5-10 lbs before then.
Be careful with juicing/food processing, especially fruit. It ends up being really bad for you, just pure sugar (more sugar is fruit than soda). Eating a solid fruit is much preferable because the fiber remains in tact which makes it so you don't have such a sudden spike in BP.
I second this. I've always been taught to juice your veggies and eat your fruit. It's okay to juice fruit, but I personally like to use it as flavor for a base like kale or carrots.

See, I am usually a runner like that, tronik. But I realized from previous Roos that even running a marathon doesn't prepare you for being on your feet all day for four days in a row. So now I am going for really long walks instead. Like 3 hour walks. My office also got a treadmill desk so I am walking three to five hours while I'm at work, too. I figure that should get my body ready to stand, walk and dance for four days straight.

Totally agree with ya here! Even after Counterpoint, my legs were legitimately sore from just all the walking and dancing that was done. Our legs are full of different kind of muscles and running addresses just some of them. I still run though to maintain weight and keep endurance up.
I wish my work would offer a treadmill desk. I'm having a hell of a time just trying to get a standing desk!
I just ran 8 miles in under an hour. Do I get a cookie?
Nice, what is your 5k/10k times?
Its been awhile since I've done an actual timed race (don't really like them, tbh...except for the Roo 5k!), but I'd say in the neighborhood of 25-27 mins. Its a pain in the ass to get going, but after 2 miles my body finally submits and I can keep a solid rhythm for as long as I have energy for.
It also helped that the weather today was absolutely perfect. 74 degrees, after a bunch of rain with a cool crisp breeze. That, some carbs this morning and a good mix combined to my advantage.

I agree, I've run marathons before and I always say that music fests are tiring no matter who you are...this year I've been working 8 hour shifts at my job, standing the entire time...then after work I will go for a walk or run, so I'm hoping that has me ready for Roo!

I've been counting all my calories, etc. in MFP for a month now, exercising regularly, and been really good for 95% of the time. I've lost 1 lb in that month I'm so very discouraged, because I really thought I could lose 10 lbs before Roo and I'm not even close. I'm keeping at it, in the hope my body will suddenly realize that it should be losing some fat!!
I'm seeing a pattern here...One discouraged club membership please.
I did my usual "eat all things because I can wear hoodies" weight gain this winter, and from Jan to the beginning of this month managed to take off 25lbs. The past 4 weeks have been at a snails pace, .8 lb loss. I'm about 5lb lighter than last year's Roo, but I was so hoping for a little more.
I will join this "discouraged club." Lost 19 and can't go any lower.
Not giving up though!
At least you lost 19 already!! That on it's own is a huge accomplishment. I lost about 3 before I really started trying, and I have at least managed to keep that off......
After a weekend where I admittedly pigged out on delicious refined carbs, I'm going to commit myself to leaning out my diet and keeping up with cardio until bonnaroo. Not really looking to hit a target weight, but if I can see a bit more muscle definition I'll be satisfied. Time to start feeling hungry more often!
Went to the doc today to discuss my possible thyroid issue/lack of energy/slow weight loss. They took some blood and should have the results next week.
I gained a pound since my last doc appointment two weeks ago I blame Mike D's delicious cookout food.
I want to hug all the discouraged out there. I get it. Keep going. Remember the changes you are going through cannot be summed up in that one silly number on the scale. I know you want to quantify your progress with that but you just can't. I do the same thing and have to remind myself not to as well. I know that muscle gain is real and throws off the perceived weight loss. And weight just fluctuates for lots of reasons. Even if you have gained weight because of some extra ice cream cones or beers...your fitness level is improving. Keep going. This is for life... Not just for one festival.

You're so right.
I was just complaining because I was a little disappointed. I've actually seen significant fitness gains in the last 6 weeks and though I'm not as toned as last summer this time, I'm definitely in better shape. My recovery times on hard workout weeks is much shorter and I dont really have joint pain or need to ice even when I take on high mileage weeks.

I went out in the woods today in South Knoxville. The nature center there expanded a few years ago to include the site of two old marble quarries. One is basically a little lake where a local store rents out canoes/kayaks/etc. on the weekends. The other got filled in by the forest. I was looking to get myself up on one of the shelves in it today (see below for example of what I am talking about). It was about chest high and I was perched on the edge of one rock and another unsteady one. I wasn't confident but I decided to give it a shot anyway. To my surprise, I was actually able to get myself up there on the first try. I quickly found that there was an easier way up there on the other face of the shelf, but I decided to take the moral victory of being able to do something I wouldn't have been able to four months ago anyway.

i've put 2 back on since my last post. i forgot what a total bitch moving is and am in disbelief at how much shit we've accumulated; much like my body, you stop paying attention for a bit and the next thing you know there's all this extra stuff where there didn't use to be any!
it's too bad you can't just load up the van with your extra body weight and drop it off at goodwill.
