Congratulations what an awesome accomplishment!! I have fluctuated as low as 205 and as high as 265, I've had such a hard time getting a grasp on my eating but I've learned over the years that its a marathon not a Sprint. I'm currently at 236 and motivated to keep the decline steady. Lets do it, 215 by roo is my motivation to get going and eat right. Last year I signed up for roo run but slept right through it, this year I'll do my best to participate. Best of luck to you on your journey, your progress is awesome!
Can I join this 215-4-Roo club? That's a healthy goal for me (I'm 235 atm)
Just bought home a elliptical machine home, loved it at the gym. I have skin splits, bad knee and similar ankle. Anyone ever start a cardio routine with an elliptical before?
215-4-Roo!
I have bad knees-- even the elliptical would leave me feeling weird. I've found I get the most effective burn and my knees don't hurt as much when I do a moderate pace on an incline. Steep uphill hikes (or high level incline on the treadmill) have been amazing for me and OK on my knees.

Welcome welcome! I blew my acl and it caused a lot of trouble, the elliptical is a great way to work around that but you have to put in the resistance if you want decent feedback. Thirty minutes at what feels like a brisk pace can be intense and a good place to start, find your rhythm and let me know what works for you I'm curious. What a great start to a Sunday, cheers to our new support system

Also if anyone on this thread hasn't done so already, please check out the subreddit Lose It -- it's a large wonderful weight loss community and everyone is very supportive. Their FAQ opened me eyes to so many misconceptions about weight loss, there's no way I'd ever have lost the weight that I did without checking that out.
I really really need to get back on it. I haven't ridden my bike since last summer and haven't hiked since the Fall. I've done alright with eating and amazingly haven't gained much, but I can completely feel the difference in how I feel.

Start doing a quick workout before you shower. Just do a rotation of like jumping jacks, push ups, sit ups, squats, whatever. That always helps get me doing more later in the day.

I've never seen that before. I just spent about an hour reading the great info on there. Thanks for the link! I really need to cut back on beer, to get back to losing some lbs. I'm still noticing a slight change in my body with the workouts I do, but all these limited beer releases get all the time. I can't believe how close we are getting to Roo. It's really time for me to get 100% on board with my food choices.
I can't find my fitbit anywhere. I have searched everywhere. If you have one or know someone who wants to get rid of one, let me know please.
Oh yeah! I've been meaning to message you about this. Do you still have your receipt? My best friend has lost her fitbit three times and the company has sent her a replacement three times! You miiiight have to say it fell off while using it rather than a general "can't find it".
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
have any of yall heard of dietbet.com ?? Basically, you bet $30 and try to reach a goal of 4% loss of your body weight in 4 weeks or 10% in 6 months depending on which challenge you decide. At the end, if you've met the goal, you split the pot of money with everyone else who hit the goal. If you don't hit the goal, you're out 30 bucks.
You have to take pictures and submit for review as proof so it's hard to cheat the system.
I didn't know if there would be any takers to maybe start an inforoo dietbet???
Feeling a little worried. I have two weekends in a row of a major music festival approaching-- how am I supposed to keep to my diet!!! I just plotted around some points on Google maps, and I estimate only walking 4-5 miles per day at the fest which is like only an extra 500 calories burned from exercise. WHAT THE HELL that's like barely a slice and a half of spicy pie.
WHAT AM I GONNA DO!??!? Anyone have tips for healthy fest eating? I get so hungry at these things.
Weight loss contest ends April 27th at work, too. I. Cannot. Falter.

I did it once and lost. But I expected to. I signed up when I wasn't eating well. It wasn't enough of a kick to get me going. If I signed up when I was already doing well- easy peasy! I mayyyy do it if we do an Inforoo one.

My go-to healthier option at festivals is the chicken on a stick at the Thai places. Full of protein (obviously) and they usually have sriracha to drizzle on it (spicy= more fulfilling for me). Also, are they local? I would eat the the healthiest breakfast possible to save calories and have snacks in your car or wherever (if possible) so that if you're hungry at the end you aren't buying one more slice on your way out.
Also, I lost my Fitbit It fell off last Tuesday. Also, I am so irresponsible I haven't even called/stopped by the bar to see if it was turned in.

Hi peeps! I've been reading through this thread and just want to say BRAVO to everyone! Eating healthy and sticking to a workout plan is soooo hard. I always say every January that I'm going to get in shape for festival season and every year I don't put in the effort. However, I've upped my workout days to 4-5 a week and am sticking to a strict diet. I'm hoping to be at least 20 pounds lighter come June! It's funny how I used to hate the gym but I've realized that the more I go, the better I feel...it's almost addicting!

First of all, great job on the weight loss! You look amazing!
Generally when I'm at a festival I'll try to pack my own healthy food if that's an option. I try to do oatmeal or a protein shake in the morning and I'll bring tons of veggies, fruit, hummus, and some sort of protein bar. I find that even if you aren't allowed to bring in food I can easily sneak in a protein bar for a light snack. (I know, I'm a rebel sneaking healthy food into festivals.) Try to look on the festivals website to scope out healthy options ahead of time, that usually works for me.
When it comes to Roo I take a break from "dieting" but I still try to eat somewhat healthy because heavy/greasy food makes me sick. I usually am not hungry at festivals with its hot and I have to remind myself to eat. This year I feel it's going to be different because I eat a ton of food now and consume about 150g of protein a day so Im a little worried.
I'm sure you'll do great, good luck with the contest!

I'd join if we set one up. As long as it ended by June, because June is just one big party for me and I will lose.

I've done it before and would love to do it again...I need SOMETHING to get me going since nothing has so far. And money is usually a good motivator.

I will do it. I need to lose at least 10lbs and have a fitbit to help. I've lost 6 and am keeping it off, but struggling
I set up a dietbet for inforoo. I changed the cost to $25 instead of 30. It starts 4/13 and ends 5/10. That still gives you a little wiggle room before roo.

I think this contest will be fun, thanks for the idea nerdbyrd! I already feel the extra push to be motivated over these Coachella humps. I crunched some numbers, I need to lose about 11 lbs by May 10th keep my share of the pot. I can do that! Ahhh this is gonna be hard work, but I can do it!

When you submit your official weigh in pictures, it will tell you your goal weight. I was confused and couldn't find much information online about it until i gave it a shot on one of my other bets I'm currently doing. Our inforoo one doesn't start accepting weigh in pics until I think the 11th-13th.
And what coachella humps?
I think it will be fun, too. Glad so many other people have joined up! I was going to be sad if it was only like 3 of us lol

Oh I am going to Coachella this weekend and next. By Coachella humps, I mean all the tempting food that lies at every corner. My diet has been a strict low calorie, high protein. How in the world am I going to keep up my calorie goals when THIS STUFF is around ?!?!
