And between my last post and now, the Saturday single day tickets sold out!
Curses you festival ticket buyers!
I think you can totally find three day passes at or close to face on craigslist or somewhere between now and then, or... i'm too paranoid about chances like this, especially when I travel 100's-1000's of miles for something... but when I went 2 years ago, there were a lot of passes being sold on the street walking into the park, for what they cost... basically, tix are probably out there for you... especially if someone as big as the Beasties may have canceled ... but it's for a really good reason...

LRH, pulled the trigger on VIP, then Lila tells me about hotel lodging with 3 day tickets included. OH Well, just money he say's! Spending more on travel to Chattanooga and Savannah this fall, out of debt by December when it will be time to buy more tickets and start the circle of festival debt.

There are still 3 day passes on CL....I was looking at it today at school. Were you just hoping for Saturday tickets?
I've lived here since late August 2007, and the past 2 years we waited to hear about the aftershows and got tickets for them...ended up not going to the festival at all. I'm pretty sure that's what we'll do again this year....we're just too poor to spend money on a festival that we have to drive home from each night after day and night of drinking, even if it is in our backyard. I already have a DUI under my belt...if my boyfriend gets one, we're in trouble.
strong lineup but IMO lolla > acl....tribe for an hour?? Ghostland at the same time as Dave? really??
that's how ACL has to be if they're going to cram that many bands in the lineup in 3 days. austin has noise ordinances that require them to stop by 10 or 10:30. they get less than 12 hours to fit in a crap-ton of bands.
that's why the aftershows are so much fun. you can skip the fest performances and catch the really good stuff later!
why so early?? 10:30 seams a bit absurd. Correct me if im wrong but coachellas curfew is midnight. think its its 1,000$ a min after 12.
lolla had time constraints just like acl mabey a bit later im not sure. I dont know much about anything besides bonnaroo and rothbury...
ACL and LOLLA seem very similar to me as far as how they are run and conflicts...its not like roo when you can have music till 4 or sometimes 5 in the morning.

Zilker Park (where ACL is held) is just south of downtown, and in the middle of many residential areas. hence, the noise ordinances. dunno why that time exactly. most city fests will be similar, yes, but it's all based on the individual city as to the actual times.
i honestly don't know a WHOLE lot about lolla...do they have aftershows around the city? there are lots of people who come to austin just for the aftershows during ACL because there are so many. some of the shows aren't even artists on the bill, which can make it more fun.
I am lucky, not too many conflicts at all! dave vs ghostland does make me sad, but I've seen both of them enough that ill prob just go with whatever I'm feeling that night.
They are def going to add someone into the beasties slot, as it says tbd on the schedule. Hoepfully it will be someone unexpected and delightful.

I'm bummed out about that conflict too and the cancellation of the BBs also.
I also am bummed about BB, I was really looking forward to that, but health comes first...and I want to punch the person in the face who put Ghostland vs. DMB...IN THE FACE, GRRRRR. I really want to go to these late night shows that you all are speaking of, can I get a promise that you will keep the board informed, I got about 9 other people who I am staying with in a 6th street apartment who are depending on you too...no pressure

haha...you can also go to www.aclfestival.com and there should be a way to sign up for emails from ACL that will keep you up-to-date on when aftershows are being released.

I'm already signed up for that, but I figured that since the aftershows have nothing to do with ACL I wouldn'd get an email from them...so I'm set...
actually, they have everything to do with ACL. it's just part of the weekend, and is advertised as such. i found out about several pre-sales due to the emails ACL sends out about the aftershows.
Why have I not got a single notice about late night shows? I’m signed up with their email alert. Odd...what presales do you know about? If they are affiliated with ACL why do I still need to buy a ticket to the late night shows?

lol...calllllllllllllllllllm down trigger aftershows have yet to be released. they usually aren't til about a month or two out. i promise you'll hear about it if you keep checking back here, though

there are several smaller fests that do this same thing. because a lot of cities have noise ordinances, they do late nights at bars and other venues. they are affiliated and called "ACL Aftershows". but you're paying extra for a ticket to the venue itself...just like a normal show. the bands that play are largely those playing at the festival, with special appearances thrown in here and there.

ummm...so far i think we have 5 definites, but it could be anywhere up to about 8 or so. i've been asking some of my friends in case we need some more people to cover the hotel bill.

hah! no way! we're at the ES, too. it's a pretty sweet hotel, and we got in on the regular prices before they jack them up for the fest. we should exchange numbers or something and see if we can't meet up. do y'all plan on doing aftershows or anything?
