Well...since early seems to be the thing these days! ;D
VERY VERY excited! VooDoo has announced dates for this year....
HALLOWEEN WEEKEND!!!
Yep...I know what/where I"m doing for Halloween this year...and the Quarter will be just CRAZY WILD!!
VooDoo has become one of the best indie/alt/regional music festivals around in the last few years and the vibe is soooo sweet...trust me if you haven't checked it yet THIS is the year! I expect early bird pre-sales to go onsale ANY day now that the dates have been announced and last year they were a paltry $75 for the weekend a STEAL so....keep your eyes pealed HERE:
This year will be another no go for me - especially since it is Halloween - after all - I still have two kids young enough to trick or treat and they really look forward to it.
I went to Voodoo about a week after a sudden transfer to New Orleans in 2001. It was the first thing that made me think the New Orleans thing would be alright. Gov't Mule, Tool, Black Crowes, Bush, Better Than Ezra, Snoop Dogg, Karl Denzen all in one day.
Voodoo music festival in jeopardy Posted 3/25/2009 7:30 PM ET E-mail | Save | Print
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A communication gaffe is threatening this year's Voodoo Experience, a New Orleans-based alternative music festival that previously has landed Grammy-winning artists like Lil Wayne and Nine Inch Nails. Event producer Stephen Rehage says the 2009 festival had been set for Oct. 23-25 in City Park. But in January, he moved it to Oct. 30-Nov. 1, hoping to entice fans to travel to New Orleans for the Halloween weekend and mark the holiday on which the fest launched 10 years ago.
Rehage Entertainment says the park's special events director confirmed the availability of the new dates but CEO Bob Becker says his office did not approve them. He says the park already had four weddings and a fundraiser contracted for Halloween weekend.
Rehage officials say they're hoping to resolve the impasse by Monday.
Petition to try and change Mr. Becker's mind, maybe some of you guys can share your opinions. I know these usually don't work, but Voodoo HAS TO HAPPEN!!
^^I like the idea of the petition, but then you get comments like this.... :
10:56 pm PDT, Mar 26, Name not displayed, Louisiana seriously voodoo is the only good thing we get, it's the only time (for the most part) we actually get GOOD live music here, it's a time for us to come together and have a good time, we look forward to this every year, don't take that away from us.
Dude......really? You live in freakin New Orleans. There is a good live show, literally almost every single night of the year. That has got to be someone under the age of 16....

Thinking the same thing, always good shows here in New Orleans. I'll be at Voodoo regardless of lineup just like every year, I can only imagine the shenanigans that will go on post show during Halloween ;D
wow, I totally didn't even realize that they were tipping off KISS as one of the headliners hahaha. I suppose I'm alright with that. I'd probably enjoy that more so than REM.....
We missed last year, but we're hoping to be in good enough finances to make it this year... hopefully the lineup will rock half as much as it did last year.
LOL! Not sad at all! Stand proud! ;D Hey...it could be Gene Simmons.....
Now that the dates are set...the new website is full up...and WOW! Talk about flashy! Pretty nifty! AND....looks like they are gonna have "official" aftershows this year which could be pretty cool...depending on how $$ they are....
