Just finished it - it was good. A very natural-feeling extension of Breaking Bad, and I agree with Monie that it basically feels like a two-hour long episode of the show. Same level of quality.

Forced myself to finish the Season 5 of my re-watch before FINALLY watching El Camino and am 5 episodes in.
I fucking LOVE the train heist episode and it's so great because of how it highlights just how much Jesse is the protagonist and I love it when his ideas work. Earlier it was the magnets and now it's the train robbery (displacing the same weight of water for the methylmine they need).
Every re-watch just enforces the fact that Walt is the bad guy. Both Jesse and Mike are more likable as criminals (they follow a code and are professional while Walt lets ego and spite cloud his judgement) and Skylar is clearly a better parent even though she can be slightly difficult at times. I definitely didn't like her in the first few episodes (of season 1) but I think that was the point. She was supposed to come off as controlling and "wearing the pants" in the family so Walt could rebel.
I watched BB as it aired and have never revisited it. We tried to start a rewatch last year when it was added to Stan (our version of Hulu), but we only made it to like mid-S1. Idk what it is, but even tho I can also only remember bits and pieces, I can't bring myself to sit down and go back down that rabbit hole. It's so good, but was so stressful the first time around.
But Jack has never watched past early S3, so I really want him to give it a shot, but yea. Idk if I can. Maybe after I finish The West Wing we'll try to revisit BB.

Hey... that's mid-late season 3, TYVM! It just keeps dragging at that point. The movie piqued my interest enought that I'll grant you a proper re-watch, but I get to skip that stupid episode about the fly. Fuck that fly.

"Say my name."
"You're Heisenberg."
"You're goddamn right."
Still so so epic. Just got to this part of the rewatch. Even though it's been gif'd and memes to death it still has power cuz of the whole scene leading up to this.

On my re-watch i'm starting to feel:
Season 5 part 1 = Mike's season (also arguably Jesse) Season 5 part 2 = Hank's season
I just got past the episode where Hank knows everything but also knows he has no proof so he can't be sure what to do. And it ends with him going to interrogate Jesse, who was caught after tossing "millions" of dollars out his car window since he was so messed up.
Also there's a lot of things that are very "This Is Us" about this show, and if anything it makes me reevaluate the oooooh wow the guy knew the guy who knew the guy how crazy attitude I have to those sort of shows lol

I love the episode confessions (late season 5, part 2) and tend to always forget what exactly is on the tape that Walt records. It's sooooooo good. He played that perfectly.
I forget mostly because I've only seen the second half of Season 5 like once or maybe twice while the rest of the show has gone through multiple re-watches as new seasons would drop. So all the later stuff still feels fresh at times.
yeah, but i think that was kinda the point. to show anyone who's had any reservations about Walt being the true villain at that point, that he doesn't just do fucked up things to save his / his families life. he does it for the same reason he's done everything he's done in the show, to serve his ego.

Always felt that there should have been greater consequence and some form of poetic justice for Walt like Schuyler or Walt Jr getting killed but nope it's just Jesse who's tortured and whose girlfriends die.

We had to watch Jane and Andrea each die brutally, leaving Brock without a mother, all thanks to Walt so idc really. Skylar and the kids got the money in the end, right? Walt essentially got away with what he wanted to get away with. Seems like a network note moreso than what the show was really about. It was a happy ending and that's not really what the show was to me. Just my opinion on it.
Gd that machine gun is rad. Definitely didn't see it coming quite like it did the first time despite the hints.
I definitely remember feeling more satisfied for Jessie in the moment, the last scene with Skyler is so good, Jessie and Todd.
It was 100% worth the full rewatch with some time between the on air finale. So much felt fresh, both from seeing it from end game angle, and just stuff I forgot.
Still definitely in my top 5 shows, so much to like and unpack.
Will probably start BCS soon, just take it all in bitch
Have you not ever seen BCS? Or talking about a re-watch? Because if it's the first go-round you're in for a treat.
The thing that makes me love BCS so much is that even though it plays to my Breaking Bad nostalgia/love my favorite characters are ones that were never in Breaking Bad. Nacho/Kim/Chuck/Howard make up some amazing parts of the show and getting to see the others we know from BB get more fleshed out is just icing on the cake.

yeah first time through, pretty stoked.
Cool stuff. No spoilers here but I will say that if it feels like it's starting slow/not as exciting as BB just wait. They really find a way to make it work even though it's before all the big Breaking Bad events. I look forward to a re-watch of the series eventually.
Maybe it’s because I got in on BB late, but watched BCS from the beginning, but I think I like it more than BB. It’s got a totally different dynamic than BB at first, but than that tension that BB was so good at creating comes in stronger and stronger the deeper you go. Also they dive so deep on the characters in BCS. It’s so fantastic.
Surprised so many of you haven’t rewatched BB, though. I think I’ve seen all 5 seasons 3-4 times.

i'm watching this all the way through for the first time. i have seen rather large random chunks of it, but never cohesively and not all the way through. an episode will pop up and i'll have remembered watching it (this was mainly bc of the amc marathons they would do, i guess?). currently on s4ep4.
Walt is a piece of shit from day one and the deeper i go the more i hate him. i remember seeing a lot of stuff online about hatred for Skyler, but i really don't see it? just had to get that off my chest for this 15 year old show.
