Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Yeah the late nights and the abundance of good NO NO WORD!!! and lack of security are what makes roo a more fun experience overall usually. Coachella has the advantage in the scenery, art installations and lineups with all their reunions and rare stuff.
The Cure last year was smurfing phenomenal. They would NOT STOP PLAYING!!! First they turned off the main speakers but you could still hear them if you were close. I was all the way up front. Then they cut the monitors off so it was even more quiet but the band was still playing. Being that close I could still hear them perfectly playing their old (and my favorite) Cure songs like Boys Don't Cry ... that was probably the best moment of my entire life up to this point.
In regards to party favors, do you mean dramatically less amounts, or just have to be more cautious due to security?
Sweet! Another benefit to the in's and out's rule this year... the after hours bass dome in the campsite will be open to everyone! 9:00 PM - 3:00 AM! A nice looking collection of artists, too!

Nocando is one of the best battle rappers in the world. I once saw him win Scribblejam, the whole thing. I don't know if he'll be anything special MCing for a DJ though. That is one hell of a dome lineup; Daedelus, gaslamp killer, flylo, nosaj.

Both, totally. It blows. I was so disappointed with that the first time I went. I was used to smaller jamband festivals (and big ones like roo) where you have plenty of freedom with drugs as you should. It's a music festival that you paid a whole lot of money to go to, you should be allowed to enjoy yourself at your own leisure as long as you're not bothering anyone else. The security are fucking pricks. I was living in LA at the time and I had a medical marijuana card so it was completely legal for me. They wouldn't even let me bring a quarter or so (just for personal use throughout the weekend) into the campground, even after I showed them my card! Yeah the midnight curfew sucks but their Nazi tactics against drugs were seriously way out of line, makes you feel more like you're at a concentration camp than a music festival. Fuck Goldenvoice for that. I love everything else about that company, always getting the best bands, even reuniting them on a regular basis but this was completely uncalled for.
What's ironic about all of it is it's completely opposite with the message boards. On this board you can't even say the word: drugs but at the festival they're all over the place and security is always very cool about it. On the coachella board we talk about drugs all day long and the moderator doesn't bat an eye but God help you if you want to use them at the festival. It's weird.
Hopefully GV is starting to get more tolerant after hearing all the complaints. It's kinda funny to complain about not being allowed to do something that's illegal in the first place but let's be real, it's a music festival, tons of people are going to want to do drugs there and that is the one area in which they fail massively. I don't know if they'd arrest you but they'd definitely kick you out and probably take your drugs from you. Take this warning seriously and be extremely careful.
Coachella's improvement are pretty good this year. Skating rink with pinball lol, ill buy a few shirts for 5 bucks a piece, music til 3 in the campground will be a nice bonus, sets til 1am, car camping, bringing in some beer is another nice addition as well. Its still not as cool as Bonnaroo but its working its way towards it.

While bonnaroo was working their way towards becoming coachella with the lineups until they completely abandoned all hope this year. The allowing beer in the campgrounds and in/outs are what I was referring with them listening to people's complaints and deciding to finally start to treat their guests with a little more respect. Sucks they got rid of the dome though.
Shit. I guess I am just going to hope for the best and see if I can sniff some out on thursday. I think with the addition of car camping, it will be much easier for others to sneak in party favors. I am not bold enough to bring my own, so I will take what I can get.

But they STILL don't have a ferris wheel!!! or canoes (ala waka) ...cr****
Why do you need either of those at a music festival?
Why do you need Art at a music festival? Or merch vendors. Or even food vendors? Just eat before you get in, sit in front of the stage, and do nothing but listen to music ...cr*****
Merch vendors are at every music show. The band is looking for extra income. Food is necessity if you are going to expect people to stay at a festival all day. The art is not necessary, but I am not arguing for it, either. Seriously, you are equating these things to a friggin ferris wheel and canoes??
Nothing wrong with ferris wheels and canoes, or glowing forests. Remeber these are music AND ART festivals. The more randomness the better, looking forward to the roller rink at chella

Goldenvoice doesn't want another week of hearing people complain about all the conflicts on Sunday. Plastikman has a badass, can't miss setup too. People are going to be so frustrated. I would honestly rather see all of the bands on Sunday spread throughout the weekend and just not see anything on Friday or Saturday's lineups if it meant no conflicts on the Sunday. I've never seen a festival lineup with one day being so significantly better than the other two.

Strange, I find Friday to be the most stacked day.

Sunday is unbelievable for my tastes.
Gorillaz Pavement Thom Yorke ???? Phoenix Orbital Spoon
I really like all of these acts, and that's only the top 6. Then we get into Gary Numan, Yo La Tengo, Plastikman, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Deerhunter, Jonsi, Owen Pallett, Local Natives
That's fourteen acts I really want to see on Sunday. The other days are great too, this festival is stacked, but Sunday is one of the most quality days of music I've ever seen.
Coachella is going to be an epic visual experience.
Everything in the Sahara tent after dark always is.
Supposedly Yo La Tengo sucks live and I don't know much about Owen or LN but everything else he said is great plus Sly fucking Stone, De La Soul, Sunny Day Real Estate, Matt and Kim, The Big Pink, KING KAHN AND THE SHRINES (don't miss that, he's also playing Saturday with The Almighty Defenders) Florence and the Machine, Talvin Singh, the Soft Pack and Delphic.
Nothing comes close to comparing to that. Friday is good but look who the two subheadliners are great bands but it doesn't even come close to stacking up. Plus look how high up Vampire Weekend and Passion Pit are. Not even close.

Has anybody seen or heard of a good Yo La Tengo show? I'm curious because I like some of their albums and I've never heard anything good about them live.
I've heard of good YLT shows, but I was disappointed when I saw them in January. To a large extent I blamed the loud crowd, but I've heard the same comment from others who have seen them. It's probably true that Yo La Tengo attracts a crowd that likes the sound of their own voices, but I think they tend to be restrained and lacking in energy.
There were some hot moments certainly, including a seriously rocking Pass the Hatchet I Think I'm Goodkind, but these are studio magicians that can't quite
I have heard others who have loved their shows though.
