I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
does anyone find the guy from this band's accent far more incomprehensible than thom yorke's
it's almost impossible to understand Caleb (the lead singer) in most of the Kings of Leon songs. The last two albums he enunciates a bit more but I couldn't tell you what he was saying in half the early stuff before looking up the lyrics. The bit of Radiohead I have heard (college roomate loved and played them nonstop) I could understand Thom pretty well.
You would have to be an extremely bad judge of character to ever think that KoL lyrics are at all sincere. The vocals lack any sort of real dynamic and are instead masked with a stupid accent. Other mainstream bands with terrible lyrics and vocals like three doors down and nickleback also use that trick. While there's is more masculine, they still are attempting to cover up their lack of creativity and honesty with bullshit stylistic vocals, just like KoL. and yes, they are of the same caliber as those terrible bands, just with less trash appeal because of their hipster garb and feathered hair. Their guitar riffs are all generic. The songs are all very, painfully predictable. They should spend a lot less time fixing their hair and picking out cute little outfits and more time practicing what they're getting payed millions of dollars to do; playing music. but obviously they've found something that works very well. I wish that I could work sound for Bonnaroo '10. There would be some much needed technical difficulties.

"ég er kominn aftur inn í þig það er svo gott að vera hér en stoppa stutt við ég flýt um í neðarsjávar hýði á hóteli beintengdur við rafmagnstöfluna og nærist tjú tjú en biðin gerir mig leiðan brot hættan sparka frá mér og kall á - verð að fara - hjálp ég spring út og friðurinn í loft upp baðaður nýju ljósi ég græt og ég græt - aftengdur ónýttur heili settur á brjóst og mataður af svefn-g-englum"
Hahahaha settur a brjost. What were they thinking?

Me as well, setting everything to 0 would solve a lot of problems.

I'm not really a kings of leon fan, though i don't think they are terrible... there's worse. but i would definitely rather see one KoL set (or not see it but have it exist) than see or not see a WSP set (or two)... and I've seen WSP at bonnaroo 2007 and 2008.
2010: 3/12: The Bad Plus/Happy Apple/Buffalo Collision/The Bad Apple 6/10-13: Bonnaroo 6/19: Rock the Garden 7/30-31: Mid West Music Fest 8/21: Los Hombres Calientes 8/31: Marijuana Death Squads 9/11: The Book of Right On w/ City on the Make 9/23: Of Montreal w/ Janelle Monae 10/4: Broken Social Scene 11/23: Grinderman
HAHA on radiohead..... I like to understand atleast what language the singer is using....Tom Yorke.....wow. lol. they are really spacey tho, so i guess thats cool.
Itrainmonkeys-- I'm almost excited that you are underexposed to the almighty joke of WSP. If I want to hear the allman brothers, I'll see the Allmans. WSP is all the songs the Allmans would never play. Its amazing how ears all look the same, but perceive so differently. I'd call it a blessing if I were more doctrinally religious.
BONNAROO!!!!!
You are thinking of Govt Mule, dude.
It sucks that people try to pass (questionable) opinions like this as facts. Good God.

For the person who asked about KOL varying their setlist to appease the Roo crowd they play plenty of their old stuff. They don't need to vary their setlist, I personally have never loved them but also never hated them popular or not. Whenever I have just seen them though they play everything so nobody should be surprised at what they played. They also aren't going to play their first two albums in entirety for those people that suddenly hate them b/c they got popular and "sold out."

Agreed, if you go you're GONNA hear Sex on Fire and Use Somebody. I hope, however, that they temper the setlist and make it interesting, which I fully expect them to do. I'm sick of both of those songs, but if the show is done well it will still be enjoyable.
Oh, and crunchies for not starting a seperate thread just to express that opinion.
In response to the KOL being 2010's metallica thread... KOL is like some sort of power ballad/pop/art-rock band, Metallica is the epitome of metal. Performing a cover of "Nothing Else Matters" should set the record straight.

You missed the point completely. The OP of that thread wasn't comparing their musical styles......just the fact that there is so much backlash on here over those specific headliners. They pointed out that Metallica was ridiculed/bashed for the most part but after their show was pretty awesome they were semi-accepted by the roo crowd.
Oh...oops. Did not know this, was stuck in school during that year... KOL is diverse in their style of play, hope that everybody enjoys their show. "King of the Rodeo" is catchy.
