I'm really really tempted to buy my all show pass, today.
Edit: also, I've really only skimmed the lineup a few times and everytime i see something that dig... just realized not long ago Annuals were on the lineup too. I remember wanting to see them a few years ago, but not being able to make it.
If I got one of the lower level tickets would i be able to see Swans?

I hadn't planned on buying anything today, but it made me nervous that the VIP passes sold out so quickly. I'm assuming this is going to sell out, so I shouldn't have a problem selling my tickets in case something comes up and I can't go. If you've got the cash free right now, I would go for it.

Yes, I went GA last year and saw everything I intended on seeing (with the exception of bands that were conflicting with bands I wanted to see.) Kind of like the tents at roo, just plan on being at the clubs early for the shows you really want to see.
Got V.I.P. Was worth it last year. Aside from skipping some lines, there was unlimited alcohol at the opening night party, heavy hors doeuvres Friday and Saturday (bbq sliders were my dinner), and they had unlimited Newcastle Friday and Saturday noon-5 (this I didn't find out til it was too late on Saturday). Also, free VitaminWater in the VIP lounge

You should be fine. I'd just advise getting there a little early. The venue they're playing at seats 650, and Swans aren't exactly the most "hip" band. I expect it to be full, but not crazy full
Interviewed Grayson and Greg, the organizers, today. They said all show wristbands were selling quick. If you're planning on going, I'd get one a.s.a.p.

The Club Pass will grant you admission to Swans and will give you the same chance of getting in as people with the All-Shows wristband (which includes the plaza shows).
Only shows you can't get into with the Club Pass (vs. the All-Show Pass) will be the two plaza shows--The Dodos>Drive-By Truckers>Guided By Voices on Friday and The Light Pines>Superchunk>The Flaming Lips on Saturday.
Less than 1,000 all-show wristbands left. You guys who are on the fence better get on one side quick.
I just saw this thread, this is the first time I've heard of Hopscotch and I gotta say, I LOVE this line-up! It's a 9 hour drive but being that it's not for a couple months I'm thinking I might be able to pull it off. So you say 1,000 passes left for all shows, any idea how many were available to start with? I'm tempted to just buy a pass when I wake up tomorrow I just don't want to go by myself.
Here's hoping Black Lips are Friday so I'll still be drunk from DBT's/GBV and that Rhys Chatham is Saturday, so I'll still be in an altered state of mind from the FLips

Black Lips are on Thursday at Lincoln with The Love Language. BUT, you can just get drunk both nights! They might conflict with Cold Cave, who are going to be Thursday night at I believe The Pour House.
Every time I look at the lineup, it gets better. Can't believe so many people have been bitching about it. I really cannot wait until September. Having a four-minute drive downtown and being able to sleep in my own bed only makes it that much sweeter
Not to mention the fact that I keep finding new things I love. Can't believe I'm just now hearing J Mascis' solo stuff. It's fantastic.

Who's been complaining about it? Granted, I don't live in the Triangle, but I've heard nothing but positive reactions to it.
Yeah, same here. Is the griping mostly local?
Also, I saw a J Mascis solo show a couple weeks ago. Pretty solid. I think the solo album songs get a little samey, but he plays a decent amount of 90s Dino Jr songs and a couple of older ones, too. It's just him and an acoustic guitar, but he occasionally gets loud and noisy with his pedals.
Just a bunch of idiots commenting on some local blogs. One of them said Guided By Voices and The Flaming Lips weren't relevant (HA) and another said Drive-By Truckers are overrated (if only)

To answer the poll, GBV for sure. I'm well past the point of caring about a Flips live show, despite a very good album (their best in a decade) a couple of years ago.

After going through those comments, there's certainly some chronic dumbassery afoot on that site. But there were also a few good points made, particularly about metal, though I do really like Earth.
Holy moly, the Necks are playing! Oh man, if I had the money I would buy a ticket just for them. I hope one of ya'll go see them. They're kind of like a Australian Medeski, Martin and Wood. A fantastic band.
