My Husband and I were at the Nashville show - I should have looked on here before we went, we would have been around a much nicer crowd I'm sure!
This was our first MMJ show after missing the epic 'roo set and when they played at the Riverfront. I wasn't too thrilled about the venue choice with the acoustics and all, but we HAD to go this time!
Really enjoyed MMJ, but apparently the group in front of us got pulled over on the way and ate the drugs they had on them and then drank way too much. They couldn't handle their party and were way out of hand. They were one of the groups throwing glow-sticks at the band. A guy behind me said something about it to them and a guy with their group (right in front of me) had to talk back -and so on until they were yelling at each other (with me in-between) to start something and one of them was pointing a lit cigarette in my face. Eventually they were stopped, by a girl, who I am thankful for - because I didn't know what to do. Needless to say this really made my experience less than stellar.
Now I'm itching to see them at a better venue/location with a better crowd.
At least we got one good video and I'd like to share it, so here it is:

This show was sooooo much better than that Riverfront show. And the sound wasn't bad for the Municipal. I got right down front on the rail for awhile and it rocked. Made me even more bummed they arent coming to the farm.
Anybody here go to the Atlanta show? If so, anyone remember the setlist for the most part?
I went, but got WAY too drunk beforehand. I remember that they started with "One Big Holiday" and that the show ended too soon because of the stupid 11:00 curfew. I also remember that 24 oz. beers were 9 clams each, and that I had an awesome time...which is all that really matters.

Whoa. Thanks man. I remembered that they had played a new song, and that I shat a brick when I heard Where to Begin. Move On Up was a sweet closer. Awesome setlist, too much drunk.

So...MPP roll call?
alady
squirrel, you and I had just about the same experience in Nashville...show was great, but the crowd was pretty obnoxious. Hoping for a better scene this weekend! And great vid...really enjoyed it!
So wait, are you going now? WHY AM I SO CONFUSED???
A bunch of the Jacket board folk are meeting around 3 in the Sheraton parking lot - about a mile from the venue - and heading to MPP when the lots open at 4. Any Inforoosters who care to join us would be more than welcome!

I am going to MPP. I have no ticket but I thought I will make the drive up and see what happens. I'm pretty slippery. You really have to watch me.
That setlist was very similar to what we got at Jazz Fest this past weekend. Only a few slight differences....
1. One Big Holiday 2. Gideon 3. Off The Record 4. I'm Amazed 5. Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt.1 6. Golden 7. Thank You Too! 8. Mahgeetah 9. Lay Low 10. Smokin From Shootin 11. Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt.2 12. Anytime 13. Wordless Chorus 14. Evil Urges * 15. Highly Suspicious * 16. Mother In Law (Allen Toussaint) * 17. Carnival Time (Al Johnson) * 18. Move On Up (Curtis Mayfield) *
* w/ Preservation Hall Jazz Band
Carnival Time was played with Al "Carinval Time" Johnson as well......
and I don't remember hearing Evil Urges, but maybe that was just me hahah. This setlist is from MMJ's site.....
Lots open at 4? Will we get hassled if we drink out of plastic cups? I know they're pretty strict at MPP.
I've only been once. Last year at The Decemberists we put our beer in cups and it was cool.
The weather is predicted to be glorious! Sunny and highs around 80.
I thought the parking lot opened at 5:00? Does anyone know for sure? Also, it says no smoking, but that wasn't enforced last year.
The only phone number I have is GarageLand's - due to losing my sim card. Anyone who wants to meet up PM me with your number. We have a room and will be there until we can get in the parking lot, early arrivers are welcome.
