My league is brutal. 8-team NL-only keeper league, we're allowed 4 keepers, you can't keep your first or second round draft pick, and any player you do decide to keep, you sacrifice the draft pick for the round before that guy was drafted (so if you took Posey in the 3rd round and want to keep him, you have to give up your 2nd round pick). All the managers are really, really active, and it's tough to get an advantage anywhere. Standard 5x5 roto, except we sub out Avg. for OBP.
Injuries have decimated my team, as well as the fact that my pitching staff decided to take the last week of April and the first two weeks of May as extended batting practice.
I have Angel Pagan, Jason Heyward, David Wright, Ike Davis, and Josh Johnson all hurt. It's a nightmare, but baseball is the easiest sport to make a big comeback in, so it's not quite time to panic.
it's pretty damn hilarious to read, at least the pot shots Wilpon takes at mets players. On Carlos Beltran: "We had some schmuck in New York who paid him based on that one series. He's 65 to 70 percent of what he was."
keeping my fingers crossed for Utley to make a return to the lineup tonight

Believe it or not, I've been fielding texts, emails, and phone calls about this article all morning. Shocking, I know.
Wilpon is a clueless fool. Reyes has just entered his prime, and without him the team would be about 30 games below .500 right now.
Wright is the face of the franchise and a 5-time all-star. Beltran is playing well.
Wilpon refuses to sell the team but insists on dragging it deeper and deeper into the darkness. Whatever. Once he dies his son will run the team into the ground and have to sell after 27 straight quarters in the red.

Brewers are playing the Cardinals the weekend of Bonnaroo, so yeah, I'll probably be at the sports bar often, much to the disappointment of my best friend, who hates baseball.

Nice nooner for the Sawx. 14-2 drubbing of the "best team in the American League" in their ballpark. I'd bet money that the Indians will be back down to .500 by the All-Star break. I also think the Red Sox will have the best record in the AL by that time. Things are clicking now; we just need Lackey and/or Matsuzaka to come back strong (I have slightly more faith in Lackey than Matsuzaka to do so).

Not so sure about that last part. They're tied for the best run differential in baseball, so while they're probably playing over their heads, it isn't exactly luck. It's obviously highly unlikely they end up with the best record in the AL, but we're already more than 1/4 of the way through the season and they've kept it up.
Sports bar meetup might be kind of cool depending on when it is. Unless you guys talk about the Phillies the whole time.
how about we talk about philadelphia sports in general??
it doesn't just have to be related to the phillies.
;D ;D
I'll gladly talk about the 2011 NFC Playoffs Wild Card Round. As long as you don't bring up the 4th & 26 game from a few years ago. Still :'(ing about that one.

any cubs fans out there??
Good, my Chi-town allegiance falls to the south, so I'll be with the Phillies fans that weekend.
Guys who say "maybe not a first-ballot HOFer, but will be eventually" really annoy me. Either someone should be in the hall of fame, or they shouldn't. I want to meet the dumbasses who didn't think that Blyleven should've been in the first 13 years of eligibility, but then something magically changed 19 years after he was out of baseball that made him vote for him. Whoever allows writers into BBWAA sucks.
