Just read the Wilpon New Yorker article.
Didn't know he was such close friends with Koufax, and also didn't know how highly regarded he was by everybody. Also, the quotes about the players weren't as bad in context.

Definitely, it's not like they're going to win anything this year, but I'd like to see them get to .500 somehow. Winning games like Saturday and Sunday's would be a good start.

As a fan of professional teams who have mostly sucked in my 23 years (sans Packers), I've found it's best to rather have your team do poorly and get a better draft pick than it is to hover around .500 and get a worse pick. But the better the Cubs do, the more likely it is Jim Hendry sticks around, which would be fine with me.

That's still two Super Bowls.
Mets/Jets/Knicks/Rangers
One Stanley Cup and I was 8.
For those keeping score at home, the Mets medical staff had their first misdiagnosis of the season with David Wright's spinal stress fracture. Yeah, fun times. Let's trade Reyes.

For the record, I wasn't pining or saying my sports teams are terrible. If I was, I'd be put to shame by Cleveland/Seattle/Buffalo fans.
I'd feel dirty if I was a fan of both the Yankees and NY Giants. I mean I'm sure it's cause of geographic reasons, but damn do I hate those teams. And the teams I root for aren't even in their league/division. It must be tough to root for Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin.

But a Cubs fan not from Chicago, I'm assuming? I mean, I feel bad about the Bills/Sabres part cause you kind of have to root for them, but you probably chose the Cubs.
I understand you're not a fan, but it's still your city.
I'd rather root for nothing than root for the Yankees. If I was a Clippers fan, I wouldn't take solace in the fact that the Lakers have won double-digit titles. In fact, you grow up resenting the spoiled sports fans who you can't ever have a discussion with because it always reverts to a talk about titles.

Boston has now won nine games in a row, sweeping the A's/Yanks/Jays in consecutive series. The Sox have also beat the Yanks 8 times out of 9 this year.
I'm happy. I remember when the sky was falling after that 2-10 start.

As a Mets fan, it's always fun to watch the Yankees turn into a million Chicken Littles in NYC. It's hilarious. They get grumpy and short-tempered. Meanwhile I'm actually happy the Mets are only 2 games under .500 given they don't have an Ace, #2 pitcher, reliable bullpen, a 3B, 1B, C and are starting a carousel of minor leaguers at 2B. And while Jason Bay has "played" he's as productive as I would be.
The fans held a "don't trade Reyes" rally the first Friday in June, and it almost turned into a riot. At least the fans still know how to have fun.
I would just like to point out that my Pittsburgh Pirates are doing pretty damn good this season. I'm amazed by how much a decent coaching staff can do for a team.
