Just knew this was coming. The Apple TV announcer said how Santana has been crushing fastball and then he put one into the river on the bounce. Watch the end of this as he goes to touch home plate. Just awesome.

Mitch Keller is the BUCS all star. Went from a second round pick to an almost consensus top 10 prospect to a starter who struggled in the bigs (with a famous graphic last year calling him the worst starter in baseball), got demoted, called back up, put in the bullpen, added a pitch or two midseason last year, and is now 9-3 with a 3.30ish era and 118 strikeouts. Real happy for that young man.
He is a fucking MARVEL and I can't wait for the Babe Ruth comparisons to be crushed into oblivion lol.
Also hope he doesn't go to the Dodgers. I'll still admire him, but it'll hurt to do so if he's in Dodger blue.
Why wouldn't you want him being compared to Ruth? That's the ultimate complement.
i think it's more about Shohei having already surpassed the comparisons to Babe when it comes to being a two-way player. obviously being compared to one of the greats is a huge compliment but there is no comparison in the two-way aspect at this point, Shohei is doing it miles better

This. And in the modern era, which is on a whole new level. Babe couldn't remotely do what Shohei is doing today.

As a two way player, absolutely. The whole Babe being a two way player was overblown. Sure, he was a good pitcher for a couple years but gave it up completely once he became the best hitter the game had seen to that point. So he never did nearly the same stuff Ohtani is doing when considering pitching.

Well sure, but comparing players from different eras is always unfair but especially when those eras are 100 years apart. Ruth obviously couldn't hang in today's game just as Jerry West wouldn't be winning MVPs today and Bart Starr wouldn't be leading teams to Super Bowls.
With that said, Ruth did separate himself from the rest of the league back then like no one else has done since. Dude was hitting more HRs then entire teams were. Its the separation between him and everyone else at that time made him the GOAT.

We talked about this years ago, who's interested to do an all time MLB spade draft? Spade meaning you have to select same position or same team as the previous pick, so its not just picking top WAR remaining and to make it interesting. I'm thinking 22 players per roster. standard starters with DH plus 5 starting pitchers and 3 relief pitchers. 5 bench. The exception is all outfield positions are interchangeable since that becomes too confusing otherwise. So any "outfielder" can fill the starting LF/CF/RF positions and outfield is a spade not LF/CF/RF.
Main rules:
* Players are only eligible to be picked as the position they played the most careers games and the team they played with the most career games. This eliminates any confusion. So Pujols only can be picked as Cardinals and 1B for example. * Babe Ruth and Ohtani (or anyone else if there is anyone) can be picked as either SP or OF/DH but will occupy both spots, and will also auto count as the other position for the teams final pick. Thus neutralizing the advantage to have basically an extra player. That's the best solution I have for that? So Ruth can either go as SP for the first pick and OF or DH for the final pick, or the other way around. But the spade element still applies. * You must fill every spot via the spade, so if it turns out you have to pick a reliever from the Diamondbacks with your last pick? So be it. * Any player can be the starting DH but must still follow the spade rule of whatever position they play when they are picked. * A player that played DH the majority of their career (EX Edgar Martinez) can only be picked as DH/bench * We will obviously map out the historic franchise connections to be clear, I.E. the Atlanta Braves are the Milwaukee Braves/Boston Beaneaters/Boston Bees/etc * Every team must have a backup catcher as one of the bench positions
Aiming for 12-16 and to start day after all start game (Wed 7/12). For fun I figure someone with one of the main platforms can simulate the season, or I think there's a website that can do it too?

Yes. I am super down. I am the one that brought up the idea but didn’t follow through because honestly I just won’t be very diligent in running one of these
