I think I'm only going to watch baseball games, listen to records, and drink beer on the porch this summer. Sound good?
Sounds like a great summer, just don't forget bonnaroo I'll be doing essentially the same thing except I'll be tailgating when I'm not stoop drinking. I tried to get down to clearwater for spring training, but it didn't work so I can't wait for the regular season to start. I'm going to try and see each starting pitcher this year. The Braves should be good this year, but (fingers crossed) the Phillies should take the division. Utley getting healthy is my main concern.
GQ rated Eagles and Phillies No 1 and 2 for worst sports fans. Hell yea rep that 215! Every reason given for why we're such awful fans and human beings are reasons that I think we are the best fans (except for the puker last year- that guy was jersey trash anyway).
will be a phills fan till a die, losingest team or not.
Exactly! We're no fair weather fans here. I was at the 10,000th loss game and the feeling after the game pretty much summed up being a Philly sports fans. Both boos and cheers after we lost the game.
Big news though: they'll be selling TastyKakes at the ballpark this year for what is likely to be a ridiculously marked up price

I'm not worried about our pitching. We have a stellar starting rotation and a pretty good bullpen- we'll see what type of performance we get outa Lidge. And honestly, I think Hamels is better than Oswalt. I'm just worried about our hitting staying consistent.

Yea I would be a little worried about Lidge to. Seriously though, you guys should be good for another trip to the post season which gives Manuel and Co. 162 games to figure out how to go all the way.
What's the word on Chase?
Personally, I'm hoping my Jays continue from last years successes and get closer to a post season berth. Despite how tough the AL East is, I think we could contend for a spot next year (especially if the MLB follows through and expands the playoffs).

You're telling me, 1993 was a long time ago!
I'm trying not to get my hopes up but if the Yanks continue aging and under performing and if The Rays' inability to keep players effects their play this year we could have an outside shot at the wild card berth. I still think we are another year away though

I passed by the dome the other day on my way to Royksopp and thought about that. They won a World Series in that building and haven't been back since. Gotta be a bummer for the baseball fans in the city.

Yea it certainly hurts but as a realist I have known it wasn't going to happen. Luckily I am one of those people who gets much joy out of baseball period and so even watching a mediocre product has kept me happy.
How was that Royksopp show? I was thinking of hitting that one up but my work schedule recently made that just about impossible

I haven't checked their tour schedule but I have been thinking for a while that they would be a good addition. Maybe hold down a set on a revamped electronic tent/stage and then back up Robyn?

I think Utley is expected to miss the start of the season due to his knee injury. They're trying to do anything possible to avoid surgery- he's got a cortisone shot and he visited specialists that assigned him specific exercises to help his knee. The Phils just signed Luis Castillo, so they must expect Utley to miss some time. At least we have a good backup tho
July 4th Nats vs. Cubs tickets bought. I'll be adding more later but those are hard to come by.
ugh...the Nats...
As someone who drove Boston-Montreal for almost every weekend Expos game of the final two seasons, I'll drink to that. And keep drinking all season, cuz now I'm a Pirates fan.
Can't wait to figure out when I can get to an Orioles game! Haven't seen my team since...the last game of Ripkin's streak! Damn.
I've seen the Red Sox at Baltimore three times. IIRC, once in 05 and twice in 06. I've seen the Orioles at Fenway a couple times also. Just not this year though.
However, I'll see the Jays (twice, in three days), Twins, Brewers, Rangers, and Rays. Seen all but Minny at least once before.

I'll be drinking along with you. I'm a Nationals fan. Silver lining are $20 tickets and a nice ballpark.

Underdog solidarity! There's a point every year where my best friend calls me from Pittsburgh and we have a long-distance Yuengling to celebrate that magical week or so where the Bucs have won more games than they've lost. Most years, anyway.
It won't be so bad when I go back to the Burgh in September...the team might be bad, but the fans really care and I don't mind rooting for the underdog's underdog. And I'd rather see a game at PNC than just about anywhere else. (Got the best seats in the house for $16 last summer!). I don't need to watch superstars (I'm a big minor league fan, too).
BUT...for the moment, I live in Boston. Its bad enough being a Steelers and Pens fanatic here (which can just about get you killed), but I mention my Buccos and people look at me like I've got some kind of mental illness. Nevermind that 75% of the pink-and-green-Sox-hat contingent never watched a game before 2004
Alright, i was up for solidarity until you mentioned you're a Penguins fan. As a Caps fan, i can no longer be associated with you. I recommend you be a Bruins fan. By the way, Crosby is a whiny little biznitch ;D

And yet... even Ovie grew up a Pens fan!! Before he went to the Dark Side...
And never, never will I embrace that 'other' black and gold team!
Did you watch that 24/7 reality show about the Pens and Caps? I only just heard it existed...
^^^ Yeah, it was really good. Glad we have Brooks Laich on our team, he's a damn good player and a very respectable guy. I admit, i had a little man crush on him. I still hate everyone on your team It led up to the Winter Classic. Well you know the rest or must I give you a reminder?
