Anyone else going to this? Any speculation on who's gonna play? I just bought my early bird ticket ($99) and booked the hotel room so I'm set to go. Last year was fun so I'm really looking forward to this year.

So Muse and Juvenile are the only rumors so far. I'd recommend seeing Muse at their own show (they just added a lot dates for later this year) because they have their whole production with the towers and everything. At Coachella it was stripped down and I'm sure it would be here too.
I was thinking of going last year for Eminem, P-Funk, Meat Puppets, etc.
Last year was pretty fun. P-Funk was damn good stuff, Eminmen not so much for me......
It was extremely uncrowded last year, in comparison to years past. I think the festival may be suffering a little bit. I'm hoping the lineup is better for the amount of money you're paying this year.....

^^jakicker, what street are you living on? i live not too far from city park either.
i live in nola and go every year. Voodoo is a fairly modest festival compared to our beloved bonnaroo, but i've seen some incredible sets there (TV On The Radio 08 was WAY better than TVotR at Bonnaroo 09), and if you never have before, you absolutely HAVE to see/attend the New Orleans Bingo! Show. They play in the Bingo tent all three days every year, its an absolute blast

I'm waiting for the lineup, I don't have any cash to spare right now. And last year I only had to go the night Justice played. Eminem was honestly the most depressingly awful show I've seen. Like, I felt bad for slim shady because he was sucking it up so hard.
If anyone needs a hotel room, holler at me. I work at a hotel on Frenchmen St, which is where the best music in the city is typically located. And it's also a blast on halloween.

Yep that's true. He'd have a backing track and would randomly sing a verse here or there. I left his set real fast, ended up having my mind melted by Fischerspoooner in one of the tents. That guy put on a bizarre show.
I'm pretty sure I can't think about trying to swing this at all year,
BUT wherever "people on the internet" are getting these "OZZY on HALLOWEEN" rumors from???
Well, if that is true, THAT is the one thing that would just have to change EVERYTHING for me! ;D
Sooo, I kinda really hope it is in no way true at all
Weeellll then, if that's so we might just be having to put our heads together and do some figurin' out then! Cause look what I found! ;D

^^ Yup, still there! Though it's $30 more than the last 2 years ... but still there just the same! Plus over $100 cheaper than if you DON'T use the Voodoo group rate
And just a guess, but somehow I envision Soundgarden fitting well up on the top of this one as well
Quick question, anyone know has MMJ played Voodoo yet? Because they need to.

Muse / Ozzy Osbourne / Weezer / MGMT
Ozzy Osbourne / Muse / Weezer / MGMT
Hey Voodoo, you mixed something up, but I fixed it for 'ya!
Otherwise, I REALLY need to make this year my 3rd in a row, Ozzy and the Weez confirm it, plus SSSC, Airborne Toxic Event, Trombone Shorty... all the rest? Just a whole lot of sweet icing and savory gravy for me ;D
Anyone know where I can find a cash cow to slaughter?
I really want to go to this. I'm skipping ACL so maybe I can make this happen...if I can get some friends to help split hotel and gas costs. That'd be nice.
keep me updated on the cash cow situation rockinhood.
Kicking the idea of this around - who knows - 12 year old has been contemplating quitting ballet (the reason we never make it to Voodoo) - if she does - we just maybe - maybe might do this.
I've seen Ozzy in more recent years and wasn't all that impressed

^^ Maybe it was an off night, I see him every chance I can, and the only time he wasn't spot on great (IMO) was the night he was sick as a dog and the band went on anyway, and kept he apologizing all night for coughing, sneezing, hacking, losing his voice, etc... and he was so upset about it, but he played almost 90 minutes anyway, before finally giving up. And even that wasn't THAT bad (IMO)
But I am extremely biased when it comes to this man.
seems very light on bigger names compared to last year...anyone know who they added last year? i can't recall...
but as of now to me I see Ozzy, Muse, Weezer and Interpol as bigger names (headliners or subheadliner lvl) compared to Kiss, eminem, Flips, Jane's Addiction, Lenny Kravitz, Widespread Panic, Silversun Pickups and Wolfmother from last year...that's 6 headliners and 2 subs last years compared to 2 headliners and 2 subheadliners this year
Black Keys, Ween, Pfunk, Gogol Bordello, Robert Randolph all just below this...I guess Street Sweeper, EODM, MGMT, Metric and Hot Chip fall in line with these, though still stronger last year in my book
dance stage changes things up some..I know Paul Van Dyke, Oakenfold and Deadmau5 are big...are they gonna have the opposite stage in main field be all electronic? that could get a bit obnoxious for people who dislike electronic...plus it just doesn't work as well during the day!
I dunno..just seeing others opinions...unless they're doing that with the opposite stage being electronic, it looks to me like they need something like 3 pretty big names to meet the standard of last year...and I thought last year looked weak compared to previous years I didn't go to!
are they gonna have the opposite stage in main field be all electronic?
I agree, that could get annoying. But it will be someplace else, as per the lineup email they sent.
Plus the Voodoo Dance tent makes a triumphant return! Gone since 2004, our massive dance tent will pulsate all day and into the night with state of the art lights and sound. Dance the evening away with Deadmau5, Hot Chip, Florence and the Machine, and Interpartysystem (just to name a few).
