Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Can we get a group together to go in on a marriott room? It looks like there are a number of us trying to cut costs on lodging. I'd rather stay with you weirdos than a hostel to be honest...
Also, compared to bonnaroo I think we'd all be satisfied with sharing a bathroom lol

Parking? In New Orleans? Basically, you park at the hotel you're staying at and taxi/shuttle/streetcar around. The LAST THING YOU WANT is to be driving a car with out of state plates around New Orleans on a holiday weekend, especially one like Nolaween.

OMG this is so true...I was down for New Year's Eve one year and once you are parked, you are PARKED!!!!!

I really want to attend this event, would probably be coming in by train on Friday. No car and being poor means I would need a place to stay. I am completely down for splitting a room as many ways as possible, I'll sleep on the floor!

Does anyone know about parking at Voodoo? Where are we supposed to park at while we're there and is it free??
Yeah, on the street. Good luck with that, get there early
Seriously, as said already, once you park in NOLA, you PARK.
And if you try to park on the street in the Quarter, you will surely get towed without knowing you did anything wrong. I'm from NYC, and it's way worse down there than anything around here.
Best to dump your car and walk/use streetcars/cabs.

Yep, didn't get towed but got an expensive-ass parking ticket once. Like $55-$60.

^this. Please keep in mind while you're there that le vieux carre is a working neighborhood, people live there and have jobs to get to and stuff like that. It is not a playground for tourists to drive 5mph and stop in the middle of the street because they've never seen public boobies before. If you behave like that, you will make yourself a target for quarter rats. Find your hotel, park your car (you will need to pay to park unless your hotel has some kinda deal), check in, put on some comfortable shoes, and get to doin what you're there for. Do not stop to give anyone directions, that's a quarter rat's introduction to you and your wallet. If someone asks you where a liquor store is, call them a dumbass and tell them to walk in any direction but yours for 2 minutes. (They're either a quarter rat probing to see if you're a good mark or they really are a dumbass, there are liquor stores on practically every corner) If you get lost, do not look like you are lost, do not stop and ask a policeman or stranger for directions. Go in the nearest bar as if that's where you were going anyway, buy a drink, tip the bartender, and ask the bartender for directions. If there is anyone that wants you to have fun, spend your money how you want to, and come back because they were friendly and courteous, it's a quarter bartender.
If anyone on the street tries to bet you money that they can tell you exactly where and when you got your shoes?
Then you simply point down and tell'em,
"Why, I got my shoes on my feet right now, right here on the street in New Orleans, duh!"
And then you just keep on movin' those feet right on down the street
Yeah, stuff like that. Even the most retarded "fun police" scams. The universal way to avoid them is tell them they smell like poop and keep moving. They'll generally follow you if you don't react at least mildly hostile.
I feel like there should be minor clarification, however, about the quarter rats and parking so that people who have never been here aren't scared away from coming here. Parking really is a bitch because on many roads, no one has a driveway. I am very lucky and our house has offstreet parking behind our house that is only for us and two other residents. But you can definitely park at your hotel and get to all of the festivities and the quarter by streetcar in most areas and cab if you have to (which is generally faster but obviously more expensive. streetcars are only 1.25 one way with a .25 upcharge if you have to transfer between cars, such as switching from the canal car to the st charles car. All in all, you spend about 2.50-3 dollars a person on the cars roundtrip). But if you want to leave your hotel to maybe go to another part of town, like frenchmen street which is a lot of fun, its not a problem, just limited parking.
As far as quarter rats, they aren't like people who are going to stab you and steal your money or follow you home and rape you. I mean people like that exist but chances are very slim. They are the type of people who just scam you out of money. I myself was scammed by a quarter rat last night waiting for the streetcar. They talk to you for a few minutes to either find out how much of a tourist you are, or in my case how much of a softy you are, and right before you can say "have a good one, man" they break out with the "hey man, can i get a buck to get home?" or "hey, can I get some money from you for a cold drink?" Its going to happen. Sometimes I crack and give 'em a buck because I want to avoid the awkward situation of making up some kind of lie, but eventually someone might actually see my wallet and beat me with it.
This is a novel, I know, but I'm reading "Under the Dome" by Stephen King right now and its almost 1100 pages, so reading this should be easy for you.
One very important piece of advice for out of towners! New Orleans does have a road system on many busier streets with cameras that take your picture if you are speeding. Like only a few mph too quickly. And they will mail you your speeding ticket. That is why Canal is 35mph and most people are going 30. The same goes for running red lights. Tickets are expensive too.
But I've only been here about 10 days, so other more seasoned vets might know more about all this than I do. Regardless, this town is fantastic. I love it so much here. I will welcome all of you in October
When does the schedule come out? I have to make a plan in advance since we are bringing the baby and mother-in-law. Audrey told me she wants to meet Jim James. It is going to be interesting taking a trip to NOLA with a baby.....it'll be much more low key than I am used to. I can't wait to share the music with her. So far her favorite singer is Jenny Lewis. She is not very big into male voices yet but I'm sure Jim live will change all that for her
We definitiely need to plan a Roo VooDoo brunch/meetup of some kind.

Last year the list of who's playing on what day came out on September 10, the same time that Single Day Tickets went on sale.
But the actual schedule didn't come out until sometime in October, I am pretty sure
Yes, they will announce who is playing on what days sometime in Sept...but times won't be till sometime a couple of weeks before the actual festival
But...I submitted my press request tonight! Whooo Hooo! And already got some feedback from the PR peeps so that's a good thing! Looking forward to it...can't wait actually! And yes! Brunch in NOLA is a MUST! ;D We've done Court of Two Sisters for a couple of years but it's kinda pricey...so let's try someplace else this year....suggestions?? I have a couple of ideas but would rather hear what others, esp locals or regular visitors enjoy......let's do something different this year! And usually Sat morning is the best for brunch. And of COURSE for those non-early risers we HAVE to hit the after hours one night...Frenchman St is my preferred venue but dinner is also a good thing....anyone have a fave restaurant that isn't too $$$ but good and open past 11?

Oh you better believe I'll be at Cafe du Monde with you. I love coffee and beignets. I've never done them for brunch; I usually swing by there for my late night snack but I'm happy to eat it anytime.

That should be our lost inforooer spot. If anyone gets lost or scared, they can text me "help", which means "I can't find my friends and I'm at cafe du monde now".

Ok, putting a little more thought into answering the brunch question, instead of just saying Angeli or Cafe du Monde (both of which I will not be leaving without eating there). All of these places have dining rooms and you can eat there for less than 20 bucks: Angeli (decatur) is hard to fit a big group in because it's usually very busy, even at 3am. Has lots of vegetarian stuff for you veggie-beasts. Mostly Italian food. Deja Vu (dauphine) open 24h, has a full service bar, serves breakfast 24h too. Coop's (decatur) staff are assholes, service sucks, food is worth it. Maspero (decatur) right by Jackson Square and my old apartment, I shoulda bought stock in this place before I lived there. Does not take plastic. Is awesome.
We could also see about having food delivered to Jackson Square and having a big inforoodoo picnic. Angeli and Maspero would probably be down. Coop's would not.

Word on everything jakicker25 said, I'm surprised he's only been here for a month or so.
I want to let you guys know about the hotel I work at. I'm not advertising it to get bookings, we're going to sell out irregardless. On the off chance I end up having to work a day during voodoo/halloween weekend I'd like to be dealing with inforooer's rather than jerkstores.
The hotel is on frenchmen st. Frenchmen has a ton of music clubs. It's the go-to place in the city for music if you're a local. Frenchmen is also the biggest party in the city on Halloween night.
We have one bedroom (fits up to 4) and two bedroom (fits up to 6) units. here's a break down of our prices: 1 bedroom 240+tax per night for the first two nights 175+tax for additional nights
2 bedroom 395+tax per night for the first two nights 295+tax for additional nights

I bought my ticket today! I'm driving down from Ohio, picking my bro up in Nashville at the airport. If anyone needs a ride on that general route, message me and I'll swing by for you. We are planning on getting down to New Orleans early the day of the 28th, and will be leaving town the morning of the 1st for the return trip.
Also, I got my hotel room on hotwire.com. It was the 3.5 star hotel in Metairie for 59 bucks a night. This is only 5.5 miles from the venue and it turns out it is the Sheraton in Metairie and the regular room rates are 124-149 bucks. They still have rooms available for this price if you go to hotwire, and use Metairie as your destination. It is one of the first options to come up. I would love to meet up with anyone staying in the Metairie area, or with any inforooers at the festival.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
