I found out today that my mom (and business partner) has cancer. She'll pull through for sure because the particular kind is very survivable, but that means I'll be running our preschool solo for most of the remainder of the year while she recovers, so no time off for festies.

So sorry to hear this. Let me know if there's anything I can do.
Since you can't make it to NO, you can always hit up the Avett Brothers at the Ryman that weekend. Druid and I will be there on Friday night!
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

hey guys,
thinking about heading to voodoo but trying to figuring out the flights and logistics (can only take one day off work).
What time on friday does the festival start? what are the hours throughout the weekend? i'm trying to decide if i should fly in late friday... or miss late friday to catch late sunday instead..
thanks for the help!
edit: i noticed those old schedule scans.. seems as tho the festy runs 10 am til around 11 pm.
with that said.. im thinking of taking fri off work and catching friday , sat, and then a bit of sunday.
any thoughts as to who the headliner sunday night might be? thats the one i would have to miss!
I just got a job, so now I'm more strongly considering coming down. I also have Fridays off from this place, so I only need to skip Monday.
Any recommendations for a hotel, or would the one they offer for 129 be good enough? I rather be fairly close, but not pay a small fortune either. Especially since everyone says its not worth driving around town and getting a rental car.
Hey all! I know that the 129.00 deal on Voodoo's web site is all sold out but I got a great deal on a room at the Hilton Garden Inn (right by the convention center) for 127 on Priceline. It's in a fantastic area of town (Warehouse/Arts District--right by the Riverwalk Mall).
Widespread just announced a few days ago that they'll be playing all three nights of Voodoo so you might wanna jump on a hotel room STAT!!

^just to clarify, Widespread Panic will be playing the same 3 nights as Voodoo at Lakefront Arena, they will not be playing at the Voodoo festival. The afterparties are gonna be INNNNNNNNNNSANE!
And I've been hesitant to post this, but it's looking very good. Mountains have been moved, favors have been cashed in, I've been encouraged by my family, and I've been humbled by generosity and kindness of some inforooers, and barring the unforeseen, I will be attending voodoo this year after all!
thats great news, vector. also, since when does oxford (aka ole miss) get bands like mgmt? i wonder if uber-conservative oxford can handle psychedelic synthesizers.. regardless, it will be the most collared shirts and ties the band has ever seen in their crowd.
ozzy on halloween is probably the only way i'd be seeing ozzy, and would prefer this so i can go balls to the wall on saturday night for mmj. mgmt into ozzy is an interesting idea, though

I don't want to generalize, but I had similar thoughts. Reminds me of last year when LSU kids were trying to petition MGMT to play their annual...whatever it was. Some event where they normally book one act to play. I hope they don't play Kids or Time to Pretend to Ole Miss, lulz.

I'll be with some festival noobs but should be a good way to break them in. Now to figure out my Halloween costume...?
Announcing an addition to the Voodoo Dance tent tomorrow
is it possible that lcd might be considered a band to go into the dance tent? more likely its an actual dj or maybe like thievery corp. but would TC be a dance tent band? god i would love it lcd decided to make an appearance
