For the record, an auto-harp and a harpsichord are incredibly different instruments. A harpsichord is a keyboard predecessor to the piano, common in the baroque period, that makes sound by pressing a key, which plucks a string with a quill. An auto-harp is a zither that you press a button and it makes only the right strings for a chord be unmuted, so you strum and the chord sounds good.

You can't say she's not a better fest act, because simply no one knows... because she never plays them. I think that's what he was saying.
Personally, I loved Erykah's set in 09, one of my favorite sets that year. However, I think a late night Which set from Sade would be out of this world, something entirely different. I don't know how you can think that wouldn't go over at least just as well as Erykah.

sade is incredible live. if anyone doesn't know/doesn't believe, just watch the lovers live dvd.
Unless I missed it, no mention of Lauryn Hill? Maybe she isn't a headliner, but I would love to have her at Roo next year. And what about Anita Baker? Or more contemporary, Janelle Monae?

lauryn hill would be great, but she's kind of lost her voice.

Even worse her performance schedule is shotty as all hell.... and she's from my area, it kinda sucks.
I am betting beyond all other bets that Janelle is there this year, but while popular, I don't think she's got the years/numbers behind her to headline

No way would Janelle Monae headline, but she'd be perfect for Which or a headlining tent performance. Especially if Big Boi's and/or Of Montreal are on the lineup as well.

I love Fleetwood Mac but I am going on 1 solo female artists who could headline. Not a band represented by a female singer. The only female singer I can see headlining a night of bonnaroo is Bjork. Lady Gaga could, but I cant picture her being booked. Bjork has performed at the olympics, headlined Coachella, Sasquatch, Austin City Limits, Virgin Festival, and has played Madison Square Garden. She is due for a album in 2011. She can put on a show like no other and has an AMAZING pyrotechnic light show. These videos will make you want her at bonnaroo.
I'm not going to dis anybody's suggestions although I've gotta say that, in general, non-pop females who are at arena-level headliners are slim.
I could see the Dixie Chicks since Roo does seem to be courting the Nashville crowd a bit, they have sold a ton of records and have a certain amount of non-country cache due to their outspoken opposition to Bush (and the Toby Keith contingent of country music fans).
Side note about Aretha Franklin: She does live up to her diva reputation. She stayed at my hotel a few years ago and, after weeks of near constant communication with her management company refused to stay any higher than the 2nd floor when she arrived. A) this completely killed all of the prep we had done at her request (a suite with A/C off, fans and humidifiers in the room, various rider amenities, her entire entourage on her floor) and B) this required switching all of the rooms around at the last minute. So frustrating.
Eight-time Grammy winner Jack White (left) and Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow (right) present Loretta Lynn with a special presentation of The Recording Academy President's Merit Award in honor of her dynamic career and contributions to country music at the Ryman Auditorium Oct. 12, 2010.
Emmy Lou Harris is close to being big enough to headline, b ut I doubt she would. Tina Turner however is certainly big enough, and I would enjoy it at least.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

I have to admit that I would be very happy see Dolly at 'Roo. It'll never happen. I don't even know where they'd put her. Maybe sunset on sunday at the Which? Oh well, I can dream.
Not sure if they're big enough to headline, but I'd totally love to see Annie Lennox and The Cranberries. I'm surprised they haven't been mentioned yet. Annie Lennox is one of my favorite vocalists of any genre or gender.
