Hey... I caught a little Talib, that was awesome, and Ghostland was ridiculusly fun. I do hate missing Galactic and Chali... that looked fucking excellent.
I feel sorry for those that waited around on Kayne while a select group of us had our minds blown by the Sigur Ros / Ghostland Observatory shows. That was very possibly the best night for music ever for me.

the problem is, the general Bonnaroo attendees aren't ready for him to return i don't think.
they WOULD show up throwing rocks and shit at him, and nobody would enjoy the show. it would be a disaster, and i think all parties are aware of this, and so there's no reason for him to come back.
if you want to see Kanye, go see him on a tour, because even if he returned to 'roo, it wouldn't be a show you would want to see.
He'll probably be at Coachella or Lollapalooza this year, if not both.
this.
If he were on the farm, it would be as a headliner or in Jay Zs spot from this year. I think that Kanye and AC entertainment would love to see it happen, but the fans wont get behind it.

Obviously personal story =/= broad truth, but I heard multiple groups asking about the f kanye signs. The Bonnaroo fanbase changes enough, and the Bonnaroo attendees seem to be capable of forgiveness to the extent that I think the suggestion of a mass stoning is p. f. ridiculous.
Edit: That is of course if AC/S have forgiven him. Which they probably haven't. I think AC/S would be the only hang-up in Kanye coming back. The fans and Kanye I think would be open to it.

I've seen no mention here of the fact that his set in 08, aside from being unrepentantly late, was pretty bad. It was short and featured just Kanye interacting with a computer (Jane, I think) and reciting truly awful dialogue about how horny he was to be stranded on Planet Kanye without any female companionship.
I think that we've let all of the other BS obscure this aspect of whether he should be booked again. I can't think of an artist whose performance has been as sub-par (and on such a scale) so I'm not sure what to compare it to. That's the biggest reason why I wouldn't want him back.
His irresponsible approach to his Bonnaroo show (partying in Atlanta the evening of his show, taking the stage several hours late) I could perhaps forgive if he owned up to it instead of blaming the world. As others have said, he is seeking PR redemption these days so he may even be inclined to do so.
I find it hard to dislike him as an artist in spite of the bitter taste that experience left in my mouth. I checked out his performance on SNL, purchased a song of his a few weeks ago and have listened to a couple of the Good Friday tracks. Still, I can't get behind him back at Roo.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
Anybody else have a mental image of Aziz Ansari being the peacemaker in this situation?
Awesome! I was trying to find video of the bit he did about his cousin feuding with Kanye but failed. That's some funny stuff. At least I got to rewatch the bit about him messing with Harris on facebook : )
Nope. Quality of output has gone down as well as public image, and of course general opinion of Roo 08 attendees.
I don't know what new Kanye you've been listening to but the G.O.O.D. friday tracks are straight fire. And public image? The guy is as popular as ever if not more.

The average Bonnaroo attendee probably doesn't know or remember what even happened in 08. The enormous crowd for KOL proved the obvious point that inforoo and Bonnaroo fanatics make up a very small portion of the people who attend the festival.
It's as simple as this, if he annoys you go watch something else.
His recent music has been outstanding, he seems genuinely sorry for his antics of the last few years, and Bonnaroo is the PERFECT platform for him to arrive full circle and show he's changed.
I'd be in the front row, and I can't wait for the album.
If this is Kanye's album to reconcile his past, then it might be right to come back to Bonnaroo. I am not sure how he would be received, but I would enjoy seeing him. This is the final chapter in the College Dropout/Late Registration/Graduation series, and "Good Fridays" have shown that he is on top of his game. I also think his set would have tons of guests. Might be fun.

Anyway, the issue of whether or not his show would get a great turnout from people who weren't there in 08 isn't really what I thought we were discussing. Of course he would be a draw if he was invited back. He's a phenomenally popular musical artist and Bonnaroo undergoes a pretty regular attendee turnover (I'm assuming).
To put it in political terms, we are Bonnaroo's "base" and sometimes you have to do things to appease your base. Not booking an artist who has demonstrated a great deal of disdain for your festival and disrespect for your audience is one thing you do for your base, especially when said artist engaged in a very public, caps-lock heavy rant about the fiasco.
That's just my opinion, though. I don't think he should be back. If he is back, I'm not gonna stage a nutty, I'll just do something else. I might even check him out if there is nothing else going on. I hope that they don't book him, though.
Just to throw it out there Kanye just announced that he and Jay Z are putting out a full length album together and figures it should be completed all in one day. It was originally gonna be a 5 song EP but they decided to make it full length. Now I know Jay Z was here last year but a Jay Z/Kanye collabo set would be amazing and would avoid most of the controversy that would come with Kanye coming back after Jay Z's well received set last year.
