thanks for all the info on this thread... now let me ask... How much walking is involved in getting from VIP to centeroo? Also, when you are camping in VIP do you have your car next to you like in GA? My mom, who will be 70 in May, is wanting to come along this year. So, how far apart are the lounges? and as for air conditioning is the lounge area open 24/7? are the showers any larger than GA??? I got a bad case of dermatitis and would like to avoid it... thanks.. oh and what are the VIP viewing areas like?

Walk to centeroo is a few minutes, VIP is on the other side of the wall from What stage field Yes you camp by your car There is one lounge in the center of VIP, one under Which stage bleachers, don't know where the third is but they are 24/7 Showers are the same I believe, basically a big trailer with individual stalls, pretty small VIP viewing is for What and Which stages only, not great but decent.
If I remember though that one was more of an open wall tent covering a bar. I don't remember that one being enclosed or air conditioned. I could be wrong, but I thought there was a third that was in centeroo somewhere.
edit: Does anyone recall a tent that used to be a lounge that was made into an American Express lounge or something like that, maybe Chase lounge? some credit card company where you had to have or sign up for their card in order to get in. I don't remember if they took a VIP lounge or one of the cigarette tents for that.
Mike D, if there is no liquor at this VIP bar, I am holding you responsible. (Which means you will be required to allow me some JHo-Only time in the pool at your house)
Are there any VIP perks for the comedy tent? Last year my son's friend stood in line for 3 hours just to get a ticket to the comedy show!!!
i waited for like 3 hrs for jeffrey ross...it was brutal in the sun...i dont think u get any special perks tho...i could b wrong
Somebody would have to work they're ass off to make me laugh after that. No wonder I've never been. I think this comedy line up is pretty good too so I don't think this will be the year that changes.
As someone researching VIP vs RV, I see that some of the VIP info is kinda vague. I mean, obviously the amenities are clear, but the experience is a little vague. Especially because it seems VIP changes year after year. But I was wondering if anyone can respond about 2010 VIP:
Questions:
1) Are the VIP tents/lounges typically crowded frustration factories, or are they typically comfortable places to have a conversation with others? Or even relax?
2) Can you get a nap in at the air conditioned tents? How doable is that? And are they 24 hours or what are the hours?
3) For those camping in tents, is the RV noise/exhaust in VIP an issue? Is there an RV section that you can camp away from? Or what?
4) Are the shower or bathroom lines quick? Are they as long as the GA shower lines?
5) Are there food/drink vendors unique to the VIP area? Are they any better?
6) There's art on the outside of the VIP wall. Is there are on the inside wall?
7) People talk about the convenience of being so close to Centeroo. But it seems like it could also be significantly noisier. For tent campers, does VIP limit sleeping/napping options?
The biggest draw of VIP for me is air conditioned areas and then perhaps the possibility of sneaking an earplug-nap in these areas once or twice a day. But if they tend to be overcrowded and inconvenient, and if VIP tends to be insanely noisy 24 hours a day, then I'm likely to get less sleep and be even more irritated for spending the money.
Here is my vip experiene : VIP is pretty spread out camping wise, I have never , ever felt crowded, usually the people around you try and park all of the cars together so there is more camping space. : There is a huge air conditioned tent in vip that had food and drinks, power surges for charging, the clutch this here is this, the tent is open all day/night, people bring air mattress in there and stay the night, great idea, a lot of room and air conditioned. : The VIP bleachers don't really do it for me, Im more of a pit guy or by the sound board, no real advantage to the VIP bleachers other than your guaranteed to sit down. : I have never waited in a line for anything while camping vip, have cruised right into the vip campsite 9am every year, no wait :Wife lost our camera Thursday night in the rain storm 09, I watched 10 people get turned away from a staff van going to wal mart the following morning, the guy saw the vip bracelet and said "vip, get in" we bought a camera at wal mart and he took us back in 20 minutes later. :The bathrooms are great, just a little creepy when your dropping a duece and than cleaning guy is waiting right outside your stall :showers...after 1 year with other people hair stuck to me I just dump a bottle of water on my head, soap, rinse, repeat..open aired shower!! At the end of the day I look @ it this way, it cost $1350 for VIP camping, I eliminate the $650 I already would have paid for lodging in GA, and now have $700 to make up, AC access all over is worth $200 to me, the open bar party on Thursday night we try to at least put back $100 worth of booze, and than try and get up front or as close as you can for every show and ask yourself how much you would pay for those seats @ your local arena...point being $1350 is worth it! I got some great RV info from a member on here I can pass it along if needed. And apparently you can sleep like a bear in those things with the blackout curtains and the electric generator I use 5 of my vacation days for the year on this trip, so I try and treat it as much as a vacation as possible.
Does anyone know what the deal is with the bleachers at the What Stage? I know the bleachers at Which are for VIP, and there's the VIP hill at What -- so who gets those bleachers?

^ generally, yes...but don't hold your breath. I got searched pretty thoroughly (pulled out coolers, bags, etc) when they found liquor in glass bottle. (Yeah, I know...wasn't supposed to be there, but I'd never been searched before in GA so I assumed VIP would be all but search-free.) On the plus side, they let me pour out the vodka into a plastic water bottle.
Bottom line: don't assume you won't be searched. But if you're smart & don't raise any red flags, you should be fine.

I wonder if rolling in wednesday night would be worth it. I already have a hotel booked but I could always cancel it. My friend is meeting me in Chicago on Monday night so that might be a little rushed to get our last minute supplies and drive down there. Hmmmm.....
I know it has already been discussed but will the parking guys be able to give a car with 4 people 2 spots in VIP. I mean Roo is pushing the carpooling so much and I am happy to find a way to it but I am now getting a little anxious about not having enough room sense we will be camping with 4 in our car. I drive a minvan van and have a rather large tent. LIke I said I know someone brought it up earlier and said that they sweet talked the volunteers into giving the needed space. I also asked on the Bonnaroo site and have gotten no reply.
In '07 there were two empty spots between our camp and the next one. Of course, that was the year they totally effed up the parking and mixed RVs and tents.
