Aw that's kind of a bummer :-( I was looking forward to a pleasant brunch to start the final day courtesy superfly, not (minimal) finger foods. Either way gospel will cure any hangover. Gospel and a bloody mary.
How dusted-over are the VIP campsites?... POD 3 always seems to look like a demilitarized zone with the amount of dust and crud that cakes onto everybody's tents/cars. Is it much of the same in the VIP Campsite?
They are not dusty at all! I was in Pod 3 the only time I've done GA and my dark blue car was beige after, but in VIP there isn't even enough dust to write in it on car windows.
I'm generally not a fan of gospel music, but during one moment every year its my favorite thing in the world.
Jazzfest marks the beginning of festival season for me. I always use the Sauvage street entrance, which is right by the Gospel tent. That first day when I walk through the gates, and some high energy super charged spiritual Gospel music is blaring from the tent as I enter, I am always absolutely overwhelmed with how much I love doing this.
Its takes all of my power not to fall to the ground and kiss the racetrack dirt while weeping.
Which I shouldn't because the racetrack dirt smells like poo.

Awesome. Sold.
Dust was the deciding factor for you going VIP?! Lol
2011 "dustaroo" was the worst. Have you been back since?
You just need to get something to cover your mouth/nose when your walking around - still doesn't really help the black boogers.
See, to me, 2007 will always be the worst, but 2012 was my breaking point. I've reached that point in my life where I'm willing to shell out a little extra to not hack up dirt for the 3 weeks following Bonnaroo.

The VIP area for the What stage is on the hill. The entrance is right near the BFE shortcut through the VIP camping area. It's a decent view but not great. For non-headliner shows you can almost always get in the pit with VIP credentials.

i swear ive seen VIP signs up on top of the WHAT stage to go into the balconies on the sides of the stage.

the side stage is definitely not for regular VIP. must be for roll like a rockstar or artists or something.
3rd time's the charm in vip this year I hope... anybody have any solid info on comedy or cinema tent vip perks? I have heard so many conflicting things and tried the method of just asking the staff (wildly varied results here and talked to everyone from clueless volunteers to the official ifc dudes)... I've even heard vips don't wait in the ferris wheel line but felt weird about asking to cut... Really wanna get good comedy seats and I think I've seen the 'special line' but again was told so many different things... is it really a matter of wondering around and just trying my luck?

I haven't heard or seen anything about VIP status for Comedy or Movie. That said I haven't had any issue getting a pass when I wanted one.

Last year I got in to the Reno 911(at Cinema Tent) with VIP band- was right up front and cut in front of a LONG line of GA's, BUT they only had a handful of VIP seats in there and my friends didn't make it in time. I tried it with Comedy Tent and was turned away. They start giving out tickets to comedy acts 2 hrs prior to the show, so you basically have to go stand in line to get a ticket 2 hrs prior if you really want to see a comedy act.
We heard that if you show up as vip 30 min before the comedy set WITH the comedy pass you can get into a separate line which leads you down front... we also heard that comedy central selects the most attractive people to sit towards the front..? I wish there was a better vip guide because it seems like people miss out on official stuff and semi-unofficial stuff is either hush-hush or completely random! Thanks for your reply CKsRoll!

A lot of these seem new. I wonder how early I have to get there to get a comedy seat now.
• Priority access and seating for VIP's at Comedy Tent performances. Admission limited. • Public Wifi available 24/7 in VIP Courtyard. • Live World Cup Feed in VIP Lounges • DJ party Fri & Sat night in VIP Courtyard. • Exclusive charging station service in VIP Campground & VIP Centeroo tents. Let your gadgets charge while you enjoy the festival! • Twice daily ice cream socials and fresh fruit available in VIP lounges.
Pretty awesome! I'm excited about the DJ Party in the court yard. Spice up VIP camping some. Get that energy flowin.
The language on the charging station seems to have changed to be more of a "you can drop it off and charge while dancing" statement while last year it read more like "YOu can come here and charge your shiz" i.e. you sit with your shiz.

I remember them having rotating DJ's - no one of consequence - in the main VIP tent in the campground years ago, but it was more for background music. The DJ party on Fri and Sat nights seems new. Nice touch, but there also will be plenty of good music going on in Centeroo. I do plan on trying to take advantage of the priority access for the comedy tent.
