Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'd email them back with your concerns, stating that it is a deciding factor whether you go or not. See if they budge a little. It really is a stupid policy, especially in VIP. Good luck.
We did write them back....
Benny,
First, we'd like to sincerely thank you for getting back to us in a timely manner. Even though your response mad us sad, you saved us a lot of money.
Having said that, please pass this on to your policy makers.....
You should update your website to reflect this terrible policy. The site clearly states that each VIP package includes a camping & car spot. It doesn't say you have to have the car to get what you paid for.
On one part of your site you advertise potential "FREE VIP upgrades" to those that carpool, but if you actually pay $3,200.00 for 2 VIP packages, you are limited to one camping spot - that are too small for a car, 2 tents and a social area??? That policy doesn't exactly radiate positivity, or common sense.
Thanks for your consideration,
What if they get out at the gate and jump on some bicycles? They've arrived in their own mode of transportation. I dunno. But hey, even if they walk in they can't deny them a spot right? You just might not be camping next to each other. It is a stupid rule, I would keep bugging them and I'm sure they will budge. Ask to speak to a manager.
Yeah, and I will just fight with the parking attendants. I have a Traverse, there is no way I can fit much of anything behind my car, let alone two tents and an EZ UP. I bought two spaces, I am getting two spaces.
As bunny can attest, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do...even if you feel like a dick afterwards. Let logic prevail.
So what if you just walk to the event? Do you have to own a vehicle to enjoy VIP bonnaroo?
I ran in to this dilemma doing VIP at CounterPoint last year. I hitched a ride from a friend and didn't have a car, and there wasn't a "tent only" VIP area. After some back and forth with the crew they ended up giving me a spot in one of the corners of the VIP area. It was more of a hassle than it should have been unfortunately. I'd imagine the same thing could be done for 'Roo. You'd probably need to be vigilant that your space is intact as the parking folks set up other campers around your space.
When you arrive at the VIP entrance tollbooth, just let them know that you will need additional room at your campsite. However, just be advised that all people entering with you must be able to present a VIP wristband in order to access the VIP campgrounds.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I would print this email and bring it with you. If the parking attendants give you any sh!t, just mention bunny. That will put the fear of God in them and they will let you park anywhere.

That's really great news. This really isn't an issue Bonnaroo should be confused with. You paid for the parking space, you get the parking space.

When we first entered last year, we were a part of the early arrivals. When I first entered, I saw that there were lots of people setting up camp sites along the back wall that looked like larger sites. I'm sure you'll just get sorted that way if you insist - and yeah - bunny - fear of God. The story of her heroism made its way to our camp before Friday hahaha

Is there some reason I should feel like a dick tronik? I thought I perfected the art of keeping a low profile...

You should definitely not! You just told the parking people how things needed to be and we all followed. Will you be with us again this year? If not, I may have to be the person who tells the parking people what we are doing.......

Glad to hear you all stuck to your guns last year. That really is an absolutely absurd policy. I'd be raising hell if I paid for two VIP parking passes and they tried to only give me one. Keep doing it, maybe they'll eventually realize the policy needs to change.

We didn't have issues with space. We arrived early and they wanted to put us on the outside fence, furthest from everything. So Bunny told them where she wanted to go, and we all followed We had no issues with space - in fact I think we ended up not using all of our spots.

Placement of cars makes me think of a question for you veteran VIPers:
I have a VIP parking pass but only intend to use it for day parking in the VIP section. As such, I don't want to take up a desirable parking spot since I'll be leaving every night to drive back to Murfreesboro. Will I have any difficulty just pulling into a spot say in the back of the VIP campgrounds? I'm assuming these areas furthest from centeroo are the least desirable spots?
I would just park in regular day parking, I don't mind the walk to centeroo, but last year I did VIP but without a parking pass, and damn it took forever to get into regular day parking, tons of traffic on bushy branch road.
From what I recall in previous years, there is a TON of room at the back of VIP if you were to park there. The closer to those back bathrooms by the road you are, the more room there is. In fact by Saturday last year it was so empty back there that my girlfriend and lazily used all the open road to drive from our campsite to the bathroom trailers.

Thanks, sounds good. Basically I want to (A) not take up a good spot for someone that will actually camp there all weekend and (B) be as close to the tollbooth exit as possible, so I don't disturb anyone when I'm leaving at 3-4am. I was worried the volunteers might try and force me to park somewhere else. If they give me a hard time I'll just tell them I know bunny.
I'm reading this thread and getting stressed out. I am headed down from IL with 2 people and picking up our 4th at the airport in Nashville. It is smart for us to ride in one car, but going to be annoyed as hell if they only let us have one spot. I feel like with 4 VIP passes, we have paid for 2 spots. Actually, it should be common sense...

Just stand your ground with the parking people. Tell them you paid over $3000, you will be getting two parking spots. Tell them how Bonnaroo claims to promote car pooling. The parking people are volunteers most of the time. They might not give in immediately, but I think after a minute or two, they just won't care any more. Just pull a bunny and tell them where you're going to do!

The volunteers at VIP parking are going to be like- who the quack is this bunny we keep hearing about. I'll probably print something official looking out prior to arrival. This year Bonnaroo has been so stressful, and this parking spot issue might be the straw that finally broke me. I thought getting VIP for the first time would be fabulous.. I've already had 2 people back out. One still hasn't paid.
A couple years back we bought GA tickets and did the shuttle + VIP upgrade. We dragged all our stuff into the VIP area from the bus stop. The attendants looked completely confused and just told us to set up wherever we wanted. Since we were lugging so much heavy stuff around we stayed close to the gate and people just filled in and parked around us.
It is with a heavy heart I have to say I am now unable to go to Bonnaroo this year. I have 2 VIP tickets up for grabs that I will sell for $700 per ticket. I prefer to sell them as a pair, but can be open to selling single tickets if two people show interest at the same time. I also had booked a hotel room June 10 and one June 14th so if someone wants a hotel room for the night before Roo and the night after Roo I am willing to change over the name on the reservation. If there is a thread for selling tickets could someone link it to me? I searched but couldnt find anything.
