IMO, VIP was totally worth it. Just passing up the GA line to get in, for one made me grateful for VIP. We came in a Honda Fit and it was stuffed to the gills. The volunteers looked at our car, didn't make us take out anything and we went straight in, no issues.
We were in between both entrances (perfect placement actually) and it was super quick and easy to get into Centeroo. They barely checked our bags and they don't search your person at all, not sure if that is the same in GA. I did have to dump out my water in my camelbak once, but they quickly stopped doing that, but would never say why they did it to begin with.
There is one AC lounge in VIP. During the day it isn't that cool, but you do get free ice cream at 1 and 5pm. They have morning yoga and the Thursday Night dinner (which was really good) and hammocks under the shade. We didn't do the Sunday Gospel Brunch since we had all brought food, and we had breakfast and coffee every morning at our campsite. They also offered massages at a pretty reasonable price. I tried to get a massage a few times, but they were busy the day I tried and then only offered 15 min massages. We noticed that during the 15 min only massages, nobody was getting any, so I hope they learned a lesson.
You could see the main stage from your tent, which was awesome. Plus, we got to hear Florence doing her sound check first thing in the morning. The bathrooms were super clean, and I only had to wait once.
For me, I like certain comforts, and I will only do VIP.
My alarm clock for the weekend was as follows. Friday morning woken up by Alabama Shakes sound check. Saturday morning woken up by Mumford and MMJ sound check. Sunday morning woken up by Florence sound check. I could wake up to that every day
I was awake before the sound checks. But yes, every morning. The saddest thing in the world is leaving Monday. You look around and 70% of the people are gone. You want to wait until later to pack up, but know that it is going to get BALLS HOT, so you pack up first thing.
I believe there are only two VIP entrances, one at the arch and one by the Hill at the What Stage. The entrance closest to What Stage is the one near the Hill (when facing What, it's all the way to the left). There are two sets of VIP bathrooms in Centeroo, on the Hill and at the VIP lounge next to the Which Stage (in between Which and This). No discounts on beer or food, other than the free beer and catered dinner on Thursday.
The free beer on Thursday is 5-10pm, but they started giving it away at 4pm this year.
I will say that the security is tighter at the entrance by the What stage.
Yeah, they were all very rude and unreasonable (see the many posts regarding the emptying of camelbaks and invasive searches).

They never made me empty my camelbak. The main entrance did ONCE. When we went through again later on, we asked about it and they were like, "Oh you don't have to worry about that anymore." They wouldn't expound other than we didn't have to worry about it anymore. I thought that something went down. But yeah, they were rude and way more probey in my stuff.

Luck of the draw, I suppose. I visited the Hillside entrance 3 times, and all 3 times was asked to empty my camelbak. I put up slight resistance, to no avail, and proceeded to follow the fence-line and enter through the main entrance.

We went through the hillside entrance a couple of times per day throughout the weekend. I used the main, arch entrance mostly because I am a planner and had things to see and eat. lol But they really need to be more consistent with the exits. I almost preferred going through the Arch entrance just because the volunteers were so much nicer and the security was so much lacker.

This was my experience at the arch entrance as well. I pretty much try to avoid the hill entrance now after having a security guard ask me to take out my wallet a few years ago. She then proceeded to look through it. I was like WTF! And I got pretty lippy with her, too. Somehow she didn't find the cold can of beer stashed in my other back pocket, though!

The What Stage entrance also had the GA folks making the hike from BFE using that as an entrance. So basically you get same treatment as anyone else from security there. Using the VIP entrance near the arch was a breeze. If you are trying smuggle in some drinks that is the way to go. Its worth the hike to get back to the left side of the field
I was looking in the Important Bonnaroo Dates thread and if I'm looking at the past prices right, there's no presale discount offered for VIP? Next year will be our 1st time trying VIP. So we potentially could just save up and buy closer in the Spring instead of doing a payment plan and paying more in the end? What has everyone done in the past?

there really is no benefit to buying during the presale, unless you want to use the payment plan to help you budget. VIP does sell out eventually, of course, but usually not until May if I recall correctly.
Past couple of years I've bought VIP in the presale anyway, because I know I'm going, so I just bite the bullet and spend the money to get it over with.
EDIT: I've been informed that you save $50 ordering presale, see post below.

I didn't realize this. We ended up upgrading to VIP after buying GA. I'm buying during pre-sale so I can do the payment plan and because we know we're going.

The presale VIP price has been $50 cheaper than the general on sale every year for the last 4 years.

My mistake, I updated my post. Thanks for the info.
So how much more space does VIP get for camping spots? After reading through the thread and others, it seems that some weren't too pleased with the amount of space there were parking ppl in VIP this year?

Anywhere from 10'x12' to 10'x15'. Not that much space to be honest. It is just enough room to have your 10x10 canopy, tent and car sticking out in the fire lane.
I'd say the upside to VIP camping space upside is having an allotted amount of space with spray painted borders.
"Like its name suggests, it comes with perks. Such as? Brand new bathroom and shower buildings in the VIP campground, and an exclusive VIP lounge located in the VIP campgrounds and in Centeroo - lounges include laptops with Internet access, cell phone charging stations, gaming areas and a live video feed of festival performances."
This sounds like we're getting permanent bathroom and shower buildings -- hopefully they're air conditioned. I see this as a massive upgrade. Although the fancy trailers were nice, I think everyone would much rather experience real deal bathrooms and showers.
VIP tickets come with a camping pass -- so no need to complain here.
(1) Car Camping Pass with access to preferred camping and parking near venue in VIP area. Learn more about Car Camping Passes here. See below for RV upgrade info.
Please note only (1) Car Camping Pass will be issued to VIP Package purchasers. If additional vehicles will be entering Bonnaroo, additional Car Camping Passes or Car Parking Passes must be purchased and will not have access to VIP Area preferred camping & parking."

Maybe the installation of some proper heads will curb the issue they've had with the latenight destruction of the toilet facilities. They need to find a way to address the stall management from midnight or so until 6 am the next morning, its like the god damn wild west in there. That feeling of knowing that nature's calling but its right after midnight. It's terrifying.

With the new car camping/parking passes, I wonder if I could come in VIP like normal and get my campsite but then take my car to day parking (buy the $40 pass) so that we can actually have the whole camp space. My car is just too damn big. When can VIPers leave the area? I know my neighbors left for breakfast every morning, but I don't know if I'd be able to leave while they are still filing people in.

Seriously. I've ended up in the far corner (back left when facing the stage) two of the four years I've gone to VIP. There's no bathroom in that corner. It's the same from that corner to either bathroom (tollbooth or courtyard) so that terrifying feeling I know all too well. They need to add a set of Johns to cover 3 corners, since the 4th is covered by that entrance to the hill.

I would email Bonnaroo directly with that question -- they've always been pretty good about responding to VIP related questions.
VIP only goes one way way in until Friday morning. If you can make do until then, you'll have no problem moving your car out to day parking if you desire. Park you car parallel to your camping space. We have no problem fitting 20 cars in with all our gear. There was a year we had 50+ They are more lenient in VIP. Ask for an end corner spot if you dont think even parallel will work

Ha! Last year I emailed them about getting an extra space with an extra parking pass and they said yes...the attendants, however, weren't having it. Had the copy of the email and everything. I honestly think most of the time they just tell you what you want to hear and let the people on the farm be the bad guys.

You can ask for those spots?? Because that would work. My car is longer than the space so parallel would go into someone else's campsite.

Its always luck of the draw depending what time you get there and if the volunteer wants to be a douche or not. But it cant hurt to ask. We always ask to start a new row because we have so many vehicles and its just easier for us to parallel that many cars without people on the end. Never had an issue any time Ive gone.

Tainted Opossum I have never had ANY issues at all with the bathrooms late at night. They were always immaculate when I went, that experience sounds horrifying.
"Our own permanent water line is currently being installed on The Farm! What’s that mean? New flushable toilets, permanent showers and multiple new filling stations for delicious, refreshing water are all coming our way. "
Have there been designated VIP bathrooms in Centeroo? I wonder if the new flushable toilets they speak of will be just in the campgrounds or also in Centeroo.

There are some over by the Which, I guess in that VIP lounge thing. I hit them up during Tears for Fears and didn't even miss a song. I think it was those trailers, but I don't really remember.

Yes, there are two VIP areas in Centeroo:
1. Next to Which Stage. This has an air conditioned VIP Lounge with about 4-5 air conditioned bathroom trailers behind it. 2. The Hill next to What Stage . This has 4-5 air conditioned bathroom trailers, a large beer tent, and provided lawn chairs
