Here is some more info on the Motorhead thing. I doubt they get a slot, but I'm sure Lemmy will be out with Foo Fighters to at least play on "White Limo"

The Motorhead thing is my hold out for just a few more additions. Not that I need them the lineup appeases me so....give me one more hip hop act and one more soul act and itll put the lineup over the top for me
Added: 32 days til we get down on the beach!!! cant come soon enough especially after watching the Coachella broadcast all weekend. I need a festival fix ASAP

One really good hip hop addition plus Motorhead would be incredible for me. I'm already happy, too, but that would be even better.

OMG, I can't agree more! Between the Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons and The National shows, I'm tweakin' for some live music!!! (and sand between my toes won't break my heart either!)
Does anyone know how quickly the late night extra sets sold out last year? Or if they've sold out already? ???
Last year Keller was the only late night extra so hard to say. He sold out but it was only a couple weeks before....this year hard to say. I think there are still tix for most late nights right now. It will start to fill up closer to the fest tho...
Thanks for all the answers friends. Went ahead and committed to the PL late night. Been living way south of the border and looking forward to getting back to the home town beach fest.
Tony Clifton (AKA, the only late night worth seeing) is still open in the smaller venue!
Right...because Bassnectar and Pretty Lights are crappy performers...
Everything I say about music is an opinion and references only me. I refuse to make this disclaimer every time I weigh in on something.
I don't really like electronic music. I mean, if there's no conflict, I'll check them out for a few songs at least during the festival. I just spent too long learning an instrument to let sequencers and sliders do all the work for me. It's absolutely OK that you like it! I don't consider you inferior in any way because of a subjective preference! Sorry I'm not all Kumbaya with my criticisms.
Hangout Music Festival May 20 - 22 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Exclusivity Rating: 41.5%
What It Looks Like After Elimination: The least exclusive fest in our field, this beachfront festival's lineup reads like the average of every other festival, with big names (Foo Fighters, The Flaming Lips, My Morning Jacket) and jam bands (STS9, Warren Haynes Band, Pretty Lights, Bassnectar) you'll find at many other festivals this summer. Maybe its booking policies are just as laid back as its name?
Remaining Headliners: A collection of randoms — Paul Simon, Brandi Carlile, The Avett Brothers, Medeski Martin & Wood, Ween — that should sound good to anyone who likes long walks on the beach. Which, as it happens, is an option at Hangout if you get bored of the bands.

Paul Simon, The Avett Brothers and Ween constitute a pretty significant collection of randoms. I would say Simon is a huge get for Hangout, especially since this is his only summer festival date.
More reasons why that NPR article is worthless:
- Some of the "exclusive" bands are playing festivals not included in their comparison, including Elvis Costello, Ben Harper, and Ween, among others. Bonnaroo's exclusive Eminem performance won't be so exclusive after Lolla announces, too. It's not an accurate picture of actual exclusivity.
- The festivals are not uniformly sized. Coachella has high exclusivity, but they also book way more bands than most of the other festivals mentioned. Pitchfork has like 45 bands total, why compare that to Coachella or Roo?
- Isn't it actually impressive that Hangout, a festival less than half the size of Roo, has so much overlap in the big names? Of the 6 top billed names at each festival, there are 3 overlaps: Panic, Keys, and MMJ.
- There are other factors beyond just lineup that matter. The Black Keys played Coachella, but their sets at Hangout and Roo will be twice as long. Comparing the two lineups isn't apples and oranges, but it's not straight apples and apples, either.

Just booked the condo for an extra few days after hangout for some well deserved recovery. Any one else staying after the festival is over? I have a feeling I won't be doing much but chillin at the beach but Im always down to meet new peeps and well...hangout.
Update on late night sets/press...Crissa got back to me and let me know that as we suspected, late nights are a totally seperate thing and there are no guarantees...it all depends on space. Oh well, worth a shot...and worth asking about if/when you pick up your creds..

Thanks for the info. I'll ask, but it's not really a big deal for me. The people I'm going with won't have press creds, and I'm not really a fan of Bassnectar or Pretty Lights anyway. I would like to check out Clifton, though.
