i was definitely thinking sand or beach for the crab part and throne that can't be abdicated like king of surf music or beach music. like jimmy buffett or the aforementioned brian wilson.
but wavves new album being called king of the beach seems more likely what with them definitely being on the festival circuit

Srry was just bitter that I suggested it earlier and nobody even took notice... or countered it. idk was looking for someone to push the discussion further cuz I honestly know very little about the band.

His latest solo album was called "On an Island' ....sort of crab related, I suppose...
Sir David Gilmour, ... makes him a magistrate or a character of sorts. And in the Pink floyd track "Fearless" there are the lyrics "Merciless the magistrate turns 'round..."

I hope it's Prince, but if not maybe it's ... Judas Priest??? A Prince and a Priest both have thrones. Prince and Rob Halford are both "characters" The 'Magistrate' clue could work for both a Prince and a Priest. And 'Veteran' would apply to each of them. ?????

I guess some people take this pretty seriously. I see as much chewing out as guessing/constructive thinking in these threads.
Maybe, in relation to my earlier guess (The Wall) although no confirmation was given, it could be another artist doing it, like FLips doing DSotM last year.

I'm not really mad lol, it just bothers me when people keep throwing out random ideas when we have already narrowed down the possibilities. And Gary said he saw the correct answer, so i doubt The Wall has anything to do with the correct answer.

I think people just get frustrated when there's a ton of pages of constructive thinking and then someone just posts without reason and without looking at any of the hard work and time that other people have given to try and figure out the clue.

I don't see constructive thinking, I just see too much thinking. This is the internet. Curious people will stumble upon this, and most people, I would assume, won't care to read 19 pages of other people's "hard work". Most of this is jibber jabber anyway, considering we aren't going to get the right answer until the day the line-up is released...!
Two more guesses to throw out there ( i apologize if this has been said, but I don't remember)...
1 ~ Wavves.....waves beach (sand, crab makes fort in sand).....their album is titled 'King of the Beach' (as well as the first single from it)
2 ~ Just for fun - Brian Wilson.....'King' of the Beach Boys (imo) (beach = sand for a crab to make a fort)...def a veteran
I'm guessing it's Wavves.....as I guessed earlier.
Edit ~ Yep, it has to be Wavves....makes total sense. *for the throne part of the clue - King *for the crab making a fort part of the clue - Beach (sand) *ocean waves would be the 'king of the beach' + Wavves ...plus what I said up there with their album.
