Didn't Dre make appearances at all four baseball stadium shows last year?
It was Yankee Stadium and Comerica Park. Each stadium had 2 shows and they just switched headliners. So it was all planned so Dre was apart of each show. The setlists are basically identical.
Is anyone else having a really tough time deciding between skipping BS and getting into the pit for Em and going to see BS and getting stuck near the back for Em?

looks like a pretty decent lineup for a smaller first year festival. wonder how many people it will draw. looks like they spent some pretty decent money. could def see that bein a 1 year fest.

So...
1) 3 = many 2) While last year's setlists were identical to one another, thus allowing Dre to show up, there is no way that the same setlist could be used at Bonnaroo 3) Shows at baseball stadiums are special events. Bonnaroo, not so much. What's so special about being the number one name on the Bonnaroo lineup anyway? 4) 90 minutes is enough for some guests, but simply not enough time for Dr Dre in particular

Expect basically the same show and if it changes then it's a welcome surprise. But don't expect greatness and it can only go up from there.

If you honestly think this isn't special to him, than I suggest reading up on the man. Headlining the top festival in the country (one of 3 shows he's doing this year) is special, because not too long ago he was in a rehab cell not knowing if he was ever going to get the chance again. This is his "coming full circle" moment and he's going to certainly try to top his good friend Jay-Z's performance from last year.
Just because he's doing two other shows doesn't mean he's not going to try and do something special at Roo. That's just crazy talk.
Is this show going to be special? Of course. Headlining one of the world's biggest festivals is a huge thing for any artist. But a show on a farm in Tennessee won't be quite as special as a show in his hometown of Detroit, and theres no reason to expect the same caliber of guests.
And again, he's doing 3 festivals in the US this year. He's also headlining festivals all around the world, including Osheaga and V Festival to name two.

Your entire premise is because he's doing other festivals, and where Roo is located, means there won't be guests?
This is the biggest festival he's doing this year. And one of his 3 festivals is Kanrockas, which isn't going to be very big. He hasn't done a real show since September, and this is a guy who seems to live by the phrase "go big or go home".
I wouldn't bank on any guests, because that's pretty standard for Roo, but your reasons are that he's performing in Tennessee and he's performing at a handful of festivals this year?
That's basically my reasoning, yeah. Why should Dre show up unless he's going to be at every one of Eminem's festival stops this year? Nothing really sets his Bonnaroo appearance apart from his other festival sets, other than the number of people. I'm sure theres gonna be some guests, but nothing like the Home and Home shows.
Don't get me wrong, Eminem is my most anticipated set of the weekend and I'll most likely be skipping Buffalo Springfield to get in the pit.

I agree with jay. Eminem may or may not see Bonnaroo as being as "special" as we see it. To him this might just be a performance like any other he's paid to do, no different than Lolla or Kansrockas, or his normal tour shows. Hopefully he'll turn it up a notch, but there's no guarantee he will. Dre doesn't normally come out during his shows, so he might be unlikely to say, "Hey Dre, I'm doing a show at some random festival down in Tennessee, wanna fly down there with me and come out for a song?" I'd like for it to happen, and hopefully AC/S prepped him on how collaborations are a big deal at Bonnaroo, or told him that to headline he had to make the show something special, but we'll see.

5) Eminem lives under a large rock & does not have any staff that might inform him as to the mainstream/publicity significance of a festival like Bonnaroo

Got it!
OK 1) Yes, for the biggest act at Bonnaroo, I am a little surprised to see Eminem headline two other festivals this year. I just thought that was a bit odd.
2) Dre. only showed up four times for Em. in the last year. and it was only when he had back to back shows in the same city. I considered those "special"because Eminem was performing two night in a row at both venues. (And one was in his freaking hometown!) Furthermore, That concert series was the one where he traded off closing duties with Jay Z, where they both closed for their respective home towns. I think that is a little more special than one of three random festival appearances.
3) See above, and it's not just any stadium, it was Yankee Stadium. It's the most recognizable baseball Stadium in the country.
4) Correct, The last festival set he played (Voodoo) had NO special guest. I predidcted D12 because they seemingly have nothing else better to do and Royce de 5'9 because they have an EP dropping soon.
And one more thing, when was the last time Dre. made it to the south?
EDIT: Just to clarify, I think the is going to be an AMAZING set. I'm super excited but I am in no way shape or form 'expecting' guest. Eminem's name is on the bill, that is who I expect to rip up Bonnaroo.

Maybe, but I'm sure Jay-Z may have said a few words.

I know what Yankee Stadium is. Bonnaroo is not a "random" thing. There is a difference between "expecting" somebody to show up as a guest & finding the reasoning for saying with certainty that it is not going to happen to be faulty at best.
It's Bonnaroo, I'm not certain of anything. I just think the possibility of Dre. showing up are relatively low.
For the record, so do I. But when your reasoning is "he's playing two other American festivals" and "it's in Tennessee", I disagree.
I think Em will bring people out, but more along the lines of a D12 appearance or Lil' Wayne collaboration during Em's set.
But Em definitely knows the significance Roo has in terms of how he's viewed nationally. This is his first real concert since the Home and Home set. And while the Home & Home was incredible, it had a limited audience. NY and Detroit will always be hip-hop centric cities so Eminem never lost relevance in either place. A nationally acclaimed festival with 10 years of history and undoubtedly a series of "Em is BACK!" type articles in Rolling Stone, etc. are on the line. Em knows this is important on many levels (in terms of his personal vindication, career revival, national relevancy, etc.). It isn't "just another festival" for him, or it shouldn't be, at least.

See, I think Eminem would see the Home & Home Series as being a much bigger personal deal to him than Bonnaroo. Whoever said something about them just beng random baseball stadium shows is very mistaken. Those shows are the gold standard, and there's no way he tops them at Bonnaroo. Now, he might bring Dre with him to roo and lolla (I doubt he sees one as being more important than the other) and maybe even Kansrockas, but Home/Home was a bigger deal to Em than this was, so I wouldn't count on it just because Dre showed up there.
