See, I think Eminem would see the Home & Home Series as being a much bigger personal deal to him than Bonnaroo. Whoever said something about them just beng random baseball stadium shows is very mistaken. Those shows are the gold standard, and there's no way he tops them at Bonnaroo. Now, he might bring Dre with him to roo and lolla (I doubt he sees one as being more important than the other) and maybe even Kansrockas, but Home/Home was a bigger deal to Em than this was, so I wouldn't count on it just because Dre showed up there.
Yeah, I agree those shows were basically his huge comeback and they were packed and filled with energy. The show at bonnaroo is gonna be sick but wont top the home and home.
3) Shows at baseball stadiums are special events. Bonnaroo, not so much. What's so special about being the number one name on the Bonnaroo lineup anyway?
It seemed you were being sarcastic and implying that these "shows at baseball stadiums" were not special events, especially in comparison to Bonnaroo, when, in reality, Eminem likely considers them more special than Bonnaroo.
ok, im not saying that dr dre will or wont be there. but for whoever said it was unlikely because eminem only has a 90 minute time slot, im pretty sure he will have the freedom to go over if he chooses to. there arent any sets after him on What, so if he chooses to go over, there wont be the need to set up another show after him.

Yeah there have been other headliners whom have chosen to perform over their scheduled set time. So I agree it could happen.
It's Bonnaroo, I'm not certain of anything. I just think the possibility of Dre. showing up are relatively low.
For the record, so do I. But when your reasoning is "he's playing two other American festivals" and "it's in Tennessee", I disagree.
I think Em will bring people out, but more along the lines of a D12 appearance or Lil' Wayne collaboration during Em's set.
But Em definitely knows the significance Roo has in terms of how he's viewed nationally. This is his first real concert since the Home and Home set. And while the Home & Home was incredible, it had a limited audience. NY and Detroit will always be hip-hop centric cities so Eminem never lost relevance in either place. A nationally acclaimed festival with 10 years of history and undoubtedly a series of "Em is BACK!" type articles in Rolling Stone, etc. are on the line. Em knows this is important on many levels (in terms of his personal vindication, career revival, national relevancy, etc.). It isn't "just another festival" for him, or it shouldn't be, at least.
I think you're confusing Bonnaroo with the plot of 8 Mile.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

i swear to god if dre emerges after " slim shady you a bass head" i will cry tears of joy. the mere thought of hearing them perform forgot about dre together gives me goosebumps
I'm pissed I'm going to have to miss the end of his set so I can get a spot for Dr. John. I wish late night's didn't start at the same time the headliners end ...

I'm doing the same thing.....but I think it will be worth it. Miss a few songs from Eminem is okay.....I don't want to be far back at that late night show.

Yeah, but I'd imagine Dave's fanboys are probably a little crazier, especially at an event like Bonnaroo. I'm sure there are going to be a lot of people excited to see Eminem, but probably not as many super-intense Em fans as there were super-intense Dave fans.

that i dont know. ive never waited for the rail, wouldnt surprise me if some people wait all day for the rail. 3 hours will get u very close for sure. i dont know that it would guarantee u the rail though
I thought it was one of the worst headline acts I've ever seen. No need for a giant screen playing 30 second clips of his videos looping and some video game animation announcing some new rapper with him. Half the time he pulled the mic away from his mouth so unless there was a time delay he was lip singing.
Em needs to learn from Jay Z. No need to self promote your albums or artists. Just come out and put on a huge show.
I didn't hate it but I didn't think it was that good. His setlist was fine, but I'm not a fan of any of his new material at all. Eminem just doesn't get me in the mood to party. I felt like he was just yelling at me for an hour and a half.
I liked it. Dont really listen to him anymore but did in high school so it was a pretty cool show for me in a nostalgic kind of way. I did find the heavy use of a backing track to be pretty annoying but I didnt let it bother me too much. Everyone around me seemed to be having a good time as well. Nothing mind blowing but it was alot of fun.

This. I thought it was absolutely terrible and Im a pretty big Eminem fan. Worst show of the weekend for me (Really the only set of the weekend that I didnt enjoy.) Total waste of a headlining spot IMO, let alone topping the bill. Like someone else said, he needs to learn from Jay-Z how to put on a real show, although I think it may just be the style of his music. Even the old bangers (Way I Am, Kill You, Real Slim Shady, etc.) just didnt get me going at all.
I thought the songlist was great aside from him not performing "Superman". One of my favorite songs of all time so I was a little dissapointed. I do wish the Dr. Dre rumors would have been true, but I was just as happy with Royce Da 5'9. I was hoping that they performed "Bad Meets Evil" from the Slim Shady LP.
