Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
i foresee this festival getting cancelled due to lack of sales.
I could see this happening. Honestly, I think MH really quacked up and may have just driven any chance of a future Rothbury into the ground.
That's right. Even I think this lineup sucks. Just glad I got the chance to experience Rothbury in its finest.
I am still trying to put my finger on it, the lineup is not bad per se. However it just feels really generic to me, it is kind of like someone just started throwing bands at a wall to see what would stick. Also once again if this was a 99-125$ ticket I think it would be a little more well received.
I have to say though I think the majority of festvillians are going to be going to Watkins Glen vs this especially if they are the same price. I still kind of wonder if this is another head to head of MH vs RL. Hard to say but after Hulaween I have some suspicions.
Watkins Glen... hmm... I gotta look into that. It's a LOT closer (assuming the city in NY). hmm... *goes to the WG thread for more info* lol
It is a still unannounced Phish festival at the racetrack the same weekend. To my mind 3.5 Phish shows >>>>> than anything Electric Forest has to offer so far with the possible exception of Reo Cheesewagon.
meh. I'm not hatin on Phish, but I'd like more variety. The location looks nice. I've been to upstate NY several times now for electronica fests, but... meh. we'll see. I bookmarked the thread in case the festival changes or somethin.
any other july 4th weekend fests in the northeast/midatlantic or nearby?

Not that I know of, however as a veteran of several Phish festivals I have to say they are really something to behold. Russ Bennett the guy who designed Bonnaroo puts them together and they really are something else. If you are not a Phish fan though it would certainly be a waste. I just think they are going to draw fans off of the EFF. While I do like variety I also like a festival with less music, more stuff to do, and time off to chill with my homies. That being said it seems like my crew has decided on AllGood and I can not do both.

The festival is done my Insomniac...if anyone has seen electric daisy carnival this thing will be packed....of course i understand its not rothbury and a lot of the guys who went in 08 and 09 are disappointed, but the stuff they do is still really well put together...and the lineup is way more diverse that EDC plus its just the initial lineup...there's still a lot of time
Holy farking shiat this line-up is horrible. For years folks over here and Jambase hated on Bonnaroo just to hate, and THIS is the initial line-up they come up with to come back to the Sherwood Forest with? And just 30 bucks cheaper than Bonnaroo?
Other than Warped Tour and Bamboozle, this is by far the worst line-up I've ever seen. I mean seriously? REO farking Speedwagon?
yeah. Maybe I should look more seriously into All Good. love the distance to say the least (although lineup isn't ideal for my tastes but i could maybe live with it and enjoy it more than I think - gotta be open-minded). I could make that drive alone, if I had to. 4 hours away. hmm... time to re-bookmark that thread, lol

The problem isn't just the lineup. The problem is that MH isn't playing this off as a new fest. They are banking too much on the Rothbury name. The website is trying to make this look like it's just like the old thing. They brought back wildcat lake and the waterpark, all the camping options are being called the same old things. Theiy're even using the same color scheme on the website. And they are really playing up the old Sherwood. They're even charging the same (not cool). They haven't reinvented anything. It's everything Rothbury was but to a lesser degree. With all the comparable features to the old Rothbury, it's just going to make it that much easier to see that it's not the same. Not even close.

Even if the music is not your favorite, camp infogood is the premier festie event of any year imo.
Volunteering looks like the only way i can swallow this mess. My whole group and I are loyal Rothbury Vets, and we live only a few hours out, but 250$ is way too much! same price as 'Roo with a tenth of the lineup, quite a stretch. but if im with people i love, in a place i love, things will be good, and if its not, well we'll just take the money we save and go to All Good.
Now lets be fair if they dont sell tickets and make some great additions this could be a pretty good festival. Keller, Umph, some non decent non dubstep EDM etc... I am still not convinced they do not have something up their sleeve.
Thaaaat.... is disappointing. It says a lot about a festival where the biggest draw for me isn't a band, but a bunch of trees with lights on them. The only way I could see myself going to this would be if I lived within a couple hours' drive and was really bored one weekend. Tickets are $199, and as it stands, I wouldn't pay half that for those bands. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely a few good acts mixed in there, but this is just so... meh.
I wanted to go to Rothbury so badly each year it happened - in '08 I found out about it a week after I'd bought my Roo ticket, and in '09 I just couldn't afford it. Last year was cancelled, and this year is just a shit sandwich. Oh well. Maybe they'll do something on the grounds in the future that doesn't suck... REO WTF?

So I can see that everyone else is also stoked about Electric Forest! Who wouldn't be with the stellar line-up! It is way more than I had expected! Scores with REO Speedwagon! Just got done reading the full line-up at www.electricforestfestival.com Can't wait to see you all there jammin!

Sarcasm is unnecessary with this fest. The joke is in the line-up. The fact that this is what they're bringing to the table, makes me laugh every time. "Hang more lights in the trees, maybe they won't notice it's REO up there playing."
Anyone looking at Beale St Fest?? Line-up in 2 days! Hoping for all the bands Roo hasn't provided...Wilco, Lips, Cake, Avetts, MGMT, North Miss. $60 for 3 days rules.

I have to say, I was counting on this to be a ticket this summer but after that line up release I'm not wasting my time. More power to those of you that are into it, please enjoy. The last rothbury i went solo and met up with roo neighbors from the year before an had a blast.
for those of you going here's a WARNING: Michigan state police all over the place up there, do the limit as soon as you reach the state. once you get anywhere withing 100 miles there's going to be cops searching cars everywhere, with dogs. the state police had access to the grounds and will be patrolling the campground and had access to the venue in uniform and street clothes.
I've seen that heading into All Good, and I've seen state troopers outside and inside Hookahville and 'roo, too. That's kind of the status quo for a lot of festivals nowadays. I'm not too concerned about heading up there.
I dunno, guys. It'll be smaller, but there's a lot of interest for it still, it seems. Just depends what you're into. A lot not interested, but a lot still are. Look on Facebook and maybe even infobury. Many are excited. Probably more disappointed with having Rothbury to compare to, but still... wait and see. you might be surprised. I bet 1st tier (I think only 1k available) might sell out quick.
Fwiw, tons of my friends are heavily into the electronic scene and none are interested in this. I'm sure that some people will go to this but they'll never have it again after this year.
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
we shall see, I guess. I'm thinking they'll use the feedback from this year and change things up for next year with a better quality lineup. *shrugs* I just hope I dont miss out on my chance to see Sherwood Forest and whatnot. the venue looks awesome.

the lineup wasn't the biggest disappoint for me(but seriously, wtf?!), the prices were. with fests like Waka and AG still well under $200, i'm not sure where the fark they get off thinking they can charge this much. i'm not paying $50+ extra just so i can have access to a bunch of amenities i'll likely never even see. the forest is a sight to behold, but it's not the 8th wonder of the world.
i love electronic music, and i'm going to nocturnal fest here in texas soon, put on by Insomniac. i guess i just thought that between MH and Insomniac, they would have pulled a much MUCH better lineup.
totally and utterly disappointing. one one hand i would like to see it succeed for those who are going, but on the other, i would rather see it fail miserably just to prove how badly they effed up.

ouch on all the rothbury hate. The price is steep, but the location is one of the best and it's always a lot of fun. ragbirds just tagged on to the lineup. not well known but pretty awesome!
