I'm not the gonna argue the originals are better than the new school because the technology is so much different. Technology is so integral to electronica that its not fair to compare the two. That being said, I have to say I will defend alot of the originals because of the unique sound they brought. Like ICantenough said, name me anybody who has sounded like Aphex Twin (Richard James) since he has come out. Also Fatboy Slim, I miss that guy. It was nice to hear a dj that was not all about dubstep or european trance. Just fun danceable music. As far as Tiesto goes, the guy is a pioneer along with all the Dutch Djs (Van Buuren and Corsten) and has made some dope tracks (Adadgio for Strings, epic). Even though I was disappointed in his 08' set at 'Roo, the guy still makes enough good music to stay relevant besides his ridiculous touring revenue. Check out Come On by Tiesto, it was recently released.

We edm fans are an interesting bunch. I understand that a lot of folks don´t enjoy the old school Tiesto/Oakenfold/Fatboy Slim music anymore, people have their tastes, but these European DJs are like the Led Zeppelin, The Who, and Pink Floyd of a relatively new form of music. It shouldn´t be surprising that a lot of folks want to see these people on the farm. And as for Tiesto I still think he´s relavent. He has the biggest electronica radioshow in the world and sells out arenas on every liveable continent, and you can hear his stuff in so many new European and South American DJs. And I think his sound has evolved. It´s not atonal blips and blurps (which I can get into), but it´s still been evolving and inspiring.
Anywho, I love it all, I´ve just always been curious about the anti-legends feel that has always been pretty unique to electronic/dance music. With jam music, the older and more irrelevant the better!
Please do not every compare Tiesto and Oakenfold to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd every again.

Please do not be dense and fail to understand the point I'm making before quoting me ever again. Just reread it as many times as you need to before you understand.

In terms of innovation you believe Tiesto and Oakenfold are just as important as Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. That's a joke.

Please dont compare fatboy slim to tiesto and oakenfold. They play house music for euro trash clubs, they same exact repatative shit for an hour. Fatboy slim makes awesome and interesting and original house music.

sigh...
Tiesto and Oakenfold are legends in European dance music, and they influenced a generation of DJs. Pink Floyd and Zeppelin are legends in Rock music and have influenced generations of rock and other acts. Comparing rock and electronic music beyond their roots is apples and oranges. I mean, if you've found some way to compare the two I'd love to hear it?
Comparing "innovation" between the two is pretty vague and complicated, which I didn't get into. But I'm done with it. I don't understand the sort of people who take something as fun as music and turn it into an argument. But I think you're just looking for an argument keyboard warrior.

"keyboard warrior"
I'm just trying to have a discussion. I'd do the same if it came up in conversation.
I think we just have different opinions on electronic musicians. The one's worth listening to in my opinion are not influenced by the Tiesto/Oakenfolds of the world.

Dude, i don't think so. The Tiesto/Oakenfold/Van Buuren bunch have had an indisputable impact on electronica. I honestly believe there would be no rave scene(which a big reason why electronica blew up), if those guys did not make music in the early 90's. Before them, electronic music was Devo, Herbie Hancock's Rockit, or other synth bands. Or it was KMFDM and other industrial acts. Those two genres didn't exactly have that dance party feel which electronica is now all about. Pretty much any techno/electronica after Tiesto/Oakenfold is a counter to their music because they made people think "holy crap, look at the music i can make with just music programming!".
So whether you're into dubstep, drum'n'bass, psych-trance, trip-hop, or the hundreds of other sub-genres. One cannot deny the influence of these guys. You don't have to like them, but they deserve respect.

You guys all need to take a good long look at yourselves in the mirror and truly, really, consider a world where Tiesto and Oakenfold are lynchpins of a music genre.

Make the Lunar Stage the Lunar Tent from now on, there's definitely room for it, and shell out the extra money each year to keep bigger name DJs spinning until the sun comes up. It will make for less conflicts with the (earlier) late night alternative/hip hop acts, and sell a lot more tickets to a lot more attractive females :-)
I would kill for a Duck Sauce set or A-Trak and Armand Van Helden solo sets at Bonnaroo. Seriously, they would tear it up.
Also --
Flying Lotus Boys Noize Thievery Corporation again please La Roux would make an excellent late night Peanut Butter Wolf (He spins great funk sets, which I could see the Roo crowd loving) Hey Champ (Their DJ sets kill around Chicago) Madlib (props to whoever said this, him and FlyLo back to back would be AMAZING)
and quite a few others mentioned such as MSRKRFT, Bloody Beetroots, etc.

I would love to see them again but for some reason I just had a feeling Bonnaroo wasn't going to book them. Hope I'm wrong.
You are probably right. I'm just hoping they arn't coming over for one show and back to Australia.
Seems like they book their tour dates in little clusters, which makes sense. Last year they played Lolla, then played only 5 more north american shows, but all in the following week. This year they're playing Ultra, Six Flags Mexico City (huh?) and Coachella within a 3-week span. It would seem a little odd to come back 2 months later for Governors Ball and not play any other shows.
Also, I really wish I lived close enough to go to Governors Ball. That looks like a great way to spend a Saturday.
