Now that you have brought up innovation, how would you define innovation in music? Is it simply doing something "different"?, or is popularity also a variable that would create something of an "impact factor"? Is it the degree by which a group or person is copied?

Popularity has nothing to do with innovation. There were/are tons of popular acts that just play the same shit everyone else is playing.

Can't stand Oakenfold or Tiesto. But, I won't argue that a large part of my disdain for those artists probably has to do with the meatheads, bros, and other douches that tend to like guys like that. That's probably not fair of me, but whatever.
You are probably right. I'm just hoping they arn't coming over for one show and back to Australia.
Seems like they book their tour dates in little clusters, which makes sense. Last year they played Lolla, then played only 5 more north american shows, but all in the following week. This year they're playing Ultra, Six Flags Mexico City (huh?) and Coachella within a 3-week span. It would seem a little odd to come back 2 months later for Governors Ball and not play any other shows.
Also, I really wish I lived close enough to go to Governors Ball. That looks like a great way to spend a Saturday.
Empire of the Sun seems unlikely, but that would be about the best electronica add I can think of that's realistically possible- along with Massive Attack. Seriously, Empire would put the electronic acts on par with any other year's as far as I'm concerned.
I'm glad this thread didn't devolve into a shouting match about what is/isn't electronic music, like that silly Lunar Stage Death thread. *knock on wood*
I wish DJ Shadow would come back! His set was so amazing last time. I'd also like to see Emeralds, Underworld, The Limousines, Four Tet, Bonobo, Dntel, Gang Gang Dance, or Fischerspooner. BTW if any of this isn't technically electronic music, I don't care.
Really? I've never seen any footage of them live nor have I listened to their more electronic stuff, just their ambient/drone material. Which is amazing by the way.

i saw them at the Paradise in Boston opening for Caribou and Holy F*ck. It was two guys on synths, one with his back to the crowd, pushing one key and tweaking knobs and then a guitar player who is about as good at guitar as any one of my friends. I was just bored to tears and couldnt wait for them to get off the stage. The other two bands were unbelievable however.

would like to see some people from the Camp Bisco lineup be added, like Bluetech, Holy Ghost!, The Magician, Wolfgang Gartner. I also just got the James Blake album which is pretty good and he would be a sweet add as well. Tipper, Orchard Lounge,Lindstrom and prins thomas, juan maclean....
