I suppose it depends on when the caravan sets off. Nothing is definite, of course, for when we set out or arrive. I'd prefer to stay in Nashville or Manchester (Walmart parking lot) on Wednesday night, just to get a fresh start for Thursday.
ya we'll have to decide if we want to stay in nashville for the meet up or the walmart for meet up with others. i just want to get some sleep. last year we drove thru the night and it was rough going thursday and never really got caught up
I personally vote to stay somewhere and get a room. I figure we will be sleeping on a cot or on the floor for 4 days lets try to get a good nights sleep the day before and not sleep in our cars. I know people from all over are meeting up in nashville the night before around 7ish I think I saw and figure why not do that as well. You can find a room at a clean/safe hotel for $40 or so. Clean and safe are the only two things that matter most of the time for me, I dont need to stay at a four star place just a place to get a decent nights sleep.
North Suburbs here. The past two years I've always gone down to SIU first to pick up some buddies from there, then head to Manchester. This year I'll probably just be driving from Chi straight to Manchester.
last year that;s what we did. worked, watched the blackhawks champ game then left at 10pm. insane. my vote is likely for nashville at this time too. the thought of a bed and a hot shower makes me happy
I dont know how true it is but I heard traffic is a bit better coming from the south rather than the north for Roo. Whatever is fine by me because I figure we will be waiting in traffic anyways. I never been to nashville so staying there the night before sounds decent to me
LaGrange Park here, I'll be in Aroura by the time Roo' starts though. 2nd time for me and I'm always down to meet new peeps =) www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1798750708

Country music festival is going on that weekend in Nashville. The whole city turns to a zoo, I would book your hotel room now. I have seen rooms in Nashville $300+
So it sounds like the plan is to leave Chicagoland area on weds the 8th and stay somewhere near Manchester. The only suggestion I gathered someone mentioning was Nashville which I second. If that is the plan as soon as I get the confirmation from my boss I can have off Weds I might start looking for rooms, post links on here of what I found, and book. As Frank said with the Country fest going on I am sure hotels will fill up quick.
heading down from chicago (lincoln square) after work on wednesday. there are 6 of us right now and we're planning on either staying outside of nashville or in murfreesboro that night and getting on I-24 by 7/8 AM.
3rd trip for most of the group and I'm determined to get on the road earlier this year on thursday morning. in 2008 we were in line by 10 AM but didn't get into centeroo until 8:15 and i only caught the last 2 portugal songs.
So I think it would be cool to stay in the same area and maybe head out for dinner sometime weds night. I heard a group or locals and other caravans were meeting up in Nashville for dinner and drinks if I am not mistaking. Does anyone else like this idea?
Is there a consensus of which area to stay? As Frank said if it is Nashville we might want to start booking rooms soon. I just got the word that all my days off were approved and personally am looking to book a room soon because I am just to excited to wait.

I would check out Monnell's for dinner. My group of thirteen will be there Wednesday night.
Monnell's is awesome, but it's a lot of food!! There are lots of great places to eat in Nashville... feel free to send me a PM if you'd like some suggestions.
As for booking rooms in Nashville, yes, I would start now. The days of Bonnaroo are also the same days as the CMA Music Fest in downtown Nashville. It would probably be easier to find a room in the airport area, or even in a suburb (Brentwood, Franklin, Mt. Juliet) and take a cab into town.
We are going to attempt a meetup on Wednesday night in the Nashville area if anyone would like to join us!
this a be my second year attending and im pumped.. first year was in 08.. finnally a lineup worth going to. probably the best since and including 08 and thats not even with additions!!!!!!!!!
Leavin wed night/Thursday morn to get to manchester between 7am and 11 am. not sure yet. rite now we got a few carpooling but the more the merrya
i thought i read this b4 but isnt someone on here from wicker park in chicago??
I live downtown, but I do think I saw someone else mention Wicker. Right now its just my buddy and I driving down. I dont think we'd mind meeting up with some fun people. Is this your first year going VIP?
