I'll try not to have as much fun next year... I guess I just didn't try hard enough. PS - My sarcastic (to the point of being misunderstood apparently) post wasn't directed at anyone particular - I guess it should have been prefaced with that disclaimer. I don't really care about the "vibe change" - the "vibe" is what you make of it, and more importantly, the "vibe" you project. That is sort of the moral I took from the original post.
Your post, sarcastic intentions or not, seemed to blame everyone who had a bad experience this year. That's the moral I took from your post. When you post something that simpliscticly and pointedly insulting and dismissive, people are going to take offense. No one was talking sh!t about you until you started talking sh!t about us. You prejudicially lumped everyone who came away from Roo a little bummed as scenesters who bought their ticket and made the trip just to sh!t on everyone else there. That's just stupid. I, like many others, went to Bonnaroo (yet again) hellbent on having the time of life...and yes, I got rather bummed when it didn't happen. Is that my fault? Maybe but, how in the hell would you know?
Are you a jackass for not having the same experience as me? NO. Am I a jackass for not having the same experience as you? NO. There is no right or wrong here. Just different experiences. Get your head out of your ass and act like a rational adult.
Edit: And you can smite me all day, if you want. I've got karma to spare.

i heard there were people who actually went to Bonnaroo to have FUN! Sooooo lame. Its like they totally didn't sit in their campsite and talk about last years Bonnaroo and some of them don't even like Phish... Oh my god... so lame. There were people there who didn't mind the dust (again, so , so , lame) and they didn't do exactly what I (and EVERYONE else) did... I mean, how can you fight conformity without doing what everyone else is doing? They should have been listening to the same music I was, experiencing the vibe I wanted them to, and doing exactly what I think people at a festival should do. It was NOTHING like 2002... or that Phish show I liked... there were actually people under the age of 30 there, can you believe that? I totally won't go to Bonnaroo next year unless everyone looks like me, likes the music I like, gives me free stuff, gurantees nobody shady will be there, talks about "that Phish show" without end, dictates exactly what the 'scene' should be, and totally hates that next year won't be like this year or the year before and lets everyone know how bad of a time they had. Its not a true festival unless you are upset - ya know? Seriously, the vibe has just changed so much.

Sorta like the positive vibe you have brought to this thread, eh ?
Or like the projection of anyone who has a differing opinion as being a phan of phish !!??????!!
Funny, as a longtime fan of the Grateful Dead, to witness the hating that the Phish Phans have gotten historically from both sides of the experience. First it was the aging Deadhead who wanted to protect his glory days by hatin' on Phish as never being able to phil the shoes of the Dead experience. Now you see it phrom the younger folks, who never had the Phish experiences either, who wanna hate on the Phishies.
For an expanded mind vibe spreader, you've got a lot of rules on how to go about it that seem somewhat self contradictory, eh ?

I didn't blame anyone who had a bad experience - my post pointed to a bunch of reasons why having a bad experience is easily avoidable... which again kind of returns to the original posters point. Insulting? i think that is more about who received it and how they received it then what I typed. If my post described your feelings... I'm sorry? I have no clue what your personal experience was like at Bonnaroo... but you seem to have gotten the idea the post was directed at you and was about you in some way... "talking about us" makes me think you saw yourself in some of that. Your anger makes me think you've got a bone to pick with someone... unfortunately, it isn't me.

Alright peoples, we can all have different opinions and different experiences and that doesn't make one more correct over another. I haven't really talked about my Bonnaroo experience this year, but I think I will now.
So my first Bonnaroo was 04. I was not prepared for what I was going to encounter. The heat, the mud, the exhaustion, the teenie boppers bopped out of their teenie minds. I had an alright time, but I missed alot and regretted alot and wondered if I'd be back. I did come back in 06 because of Radiohead. And 06 was amazing, IMHO. We were camped in BFE, but it didn't matter. I stayed in Centeroo, saw everything I wanted to see, had no regrets, didn't care about the little tards there that just wanted to get as f'd up as possible, and had the time of my life. And this year. We were camped super close, didn't have much trouble with security in Centeroo, and I saw most of the bands I wanted to(I actually think being camped close to Centeroo can be a hindrance sometimes because you can just stay at your campsite to hear the music), and I saw alot of those little tards again, just there to get f'd up, and they seemed to be stealing people's sh!t.
Did I have a good time. Yeah. Was it worth it this year. I dunno. Things have changed. Seems to me that Roo tried to do everything on the cheap this year and charged more for it. The dust drove me crazy. For the record, I would much rather have had mud. It's just that in 06 I came back refreshed, feeling like I could take on the world and that Bonnaroo feeling stayed with me for a long time afterwards. This year, it felt much more like a drain. Like maybe it was more hassle than it was worth. Will I be back? Most definitely. This next year? Probably not. I dunno. This is just my experience, there are 79,999 others out there.

The Secret is just the latest reframing of Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, mystified and targeted to an audience with Attention Deficit Disorder. Although some people attribute a mystical nature to the effectiveness of positive thinking/motivational visualization, the fundamentals actually have a solid footing in neuro linguistic programming (NLP) and kinesics (the study of non-verbal communication or body movements). Basically:
- a positive attitude, ambition, and self-confidence are the cornerstones of a charismatic personality
- developing charismatic traits within your personality can have a similar effect on your body language ("as within, so without")
- almost 90% of interpersonal communication is actually 'transmitted' through subtext, a.k.a., body language ("what you say isn't as important as how you say it")
- conversely, adopting more attractive body language habits (good posture, smiling, eye contact, "alpha male" behavior) can have a positive affect on your personality ("fake it 'til you make it")
Dude, why don't you join the pikes? Too Old? How about freemasons?

You seem to have missed the post where I let everyone know I was being sarcastic. I've seen Phish a few times, I'm not a fanatic, but I enjoyed myself. I don't recall where I posted any "rules" on anything - point me to that. Thanks for the karma - right back atcha youngin
PS - I have yet to make any personal(read: juvenile) attacks like I've seen in this thread... frankly, I think age has very little to do with maturity.

When you clearly imply that anyone worse experience than you was a clueless hippie who doesn't understand that the entire world doesn't cater to them and their tastes, you clearly are insulting people...and since I was one of the "unhappy" campers this year, you were insulting me too. I'm glad that you had a different (better) experience than I did. I could act like you and thoughtlessly claim that anyone who had a extraordinarily good time was a braindead, newbie hipster who just attended the festival to get f*cked up. I could just as easily claim that your inexperience would've made you love anything at all. ....But I didn't. Because blanket statements like those are far beyond ignorant. If you aren't willing to see how needlessly inflammatory your original post was, then you really do need to grow up.
BTW- I'm in no way mad or angry. I'm just tired of how some people think that if anyone dares to express disappointment with Bonnaroo, they and their opinions deserve to be insulted.

[quote author=roolacksreality board=general thread=1184616911 post=1184628256 You're really good when it comes to not "threadcraping". I'm not trying to force my mindset on anyone. I was simply making a suggestion for some people who didn't have that great of a time this year. I use the law of attraction because it worksfor me and I understand how to use it, if you want to try it be my guest, but in the end I don't really care what you do. I think it is pretty clear that the purpose of my thread is to try to help out some of the people who didn't have as much un this year as I did. If I went on about the Secret too much I'm sorry, but in the end I was just trying to help out. I was hoping that everyone would focus more on my point of how there will be a part of 'Roo that doesn't change.

dude, i didn't mean to come across as a jerk. i thought your post was a good one. like i tried to start my post with -- i totally agree that one's mindset changes that person's experiences. and i think that the placebo effect is amazing and part of the reason why we, as a species, have relied on rituals and shamans for centuries. heck, i don't even disagree with the idea that outlook can change reality -- being positive releases seratonin in a very real way in the brain.
i just disagree with the way that that book uses quantum physics to explain that positive thoughts change the outside world. i'm a physics buff and have a special respect for it. i especially love the dualities involved in the double-slit experiment, where it is shown that light is both a wave and particle, and that the act of observation changes the observed. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_slit#Quantum_version_of_experiment but i believe it to be a falacy to extract this experiment to thoughts being made manifest in the world.
looking back on it, i came across as a not-so-nice person in my post, using words like riculous. i'm sorry about that -- i've been higly pressurized lately.

Dear MindExpansion,
I was going to pull a post from you on this thread and use it as an example at your immaturity, ignorance, and just all around worthless posts. Unfortunately, I couldn't pick just one. Actually, I struggled to pick one that didn't exemplify one of the previously mentioned characteristics. Oleander has never abused the Karma system, in fact her karma has risen nearly 200 points in the past week and a half because people on this board love her. She asked her karma to be the lowest possible because she realized the number itself doesn't really matter, and then people on Inforoo realized she deserves lots of karma because when she does provide a conflicting point of view she does so in a manner that doesn't cause eyes to roll or tempers to flare (except yours, apparently). I hope you don't find my letter immature, and decide to bash me by simply quoting me and then saying "how mighty mature of you" and then add the ever so mighty elipsis at the end.
