He must've thought it was a meeting about the ethical consumption of corn
actually - I thought maybe he was taking a clue from some of the people on the board here that seem to lack ethics. Maybe he thought some of it would rub off on him ;D
thats not really fair - ethics are different from morals and morals are different from opinions and opinons are like assholes - everybody has one (Thanks Salt n Pepa- LOL)

Yeah, the look, age, activities, etc. of other people just don't get to me - very few people I met or saw at Bonnaroo wanted to encroach on anyone else's good time, and thats just fine with me. My only regret is not getting to see more shows - there was so much to do and so little time... and at times so little energy.

Thank you masshysteria, you understood precisely. Your name is strangely ironic in this situation too; karma for ya. I, like you, post here very little anymore... a few cool people here, but the welcome wagon seems to have gone rolling into the sunset post-Bonnaroo. To the four people I met off this board at Roo - I don't mean you guys, I swear ;D, and I'll see ya guys in the fall.
Well I still come around to see if any new sets have come up to download, but other than that a lot of the threads lately have been just depressing lately. I am sorry every time I listen to the sets that I was able to attend on my mp3 player, I no matter what get a huge smile, a little boost of energy, and I feel as if I am getting to see it again. I am also listening to a lot of bands I would not of gone out of my way to see there, but now listening to them I still get that great feeling when someone in the crowd yells out "HOLY SH*T", "BOOOOONNNNNNAAARRRRROOOO", or for the tool crowd "It looks like a spaceship is coming to get me right now man......i am tripping so hard." Even if you had a bad experience, or it is not the same as it was, people are still getting to go to bonnaroo and have there minds completely turned upside down and some may have a new outlook on life. Which could be for the first grateful dead concert you got to see, your first phish experience, or having your first psychadelic experience with tool (that was me ). Everyone has there own opinion and everyone has the right to disagree with an opinion, but just insulting someone because of their vibe, scene, looks, etc is the more immature thing, and that goes for any age group. I heard of a new addiction meetings popping up in my town by the name of CCA: CornCats Anonymous. Too much nom, nom, nom can affect the brain, and cravings for corn are really bad when you freebase corn. Remember kids, too much corn will cause your kids to have deformities.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

Whether a person had only one wonderful moment all weekend, or 100,000,000, short of getting arrested on the way through the gates, I am fairly confident that no one there had zero wonderful memories... I know there are other threads like it, but maybe to shift the direction of this thread, we can all briefly share something that happened that made them smile on the farm... my absolute favorite Roo 2007 moment??? Here goes... While sewing a Pink Floyd flag together for the roof of my camp, Mariposa (who was a stranger at the moment) saw my pictures of Corncat strung all around my tent and screamed "CORNCAT!!!" As I looked up we both went "NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!" at the same time, laughed, introduced ourselves, and became not just neighbors, but friends as well. Yup, my absolute favorite Roo moment happened right then and there in a fairly unlikely time and place... and it is a moment I will recall for the rest of my life

Whatever you do, do not feed a cat the alternative to corn, which is Korn. It makes the cats really moody, with swings of rage, random references to A.D.I.D.A.S. (I thought those were only shoes, but found out it was really a reference to immoral activities) and may have feelings of suicide. It is an epidemic of mass proportions and must be stopped.

I'll go along with this transition...
While standing in the crowd of the Flaming Lips show I was loving the music, but still felt sad cause I hadn't been able to catch any laser pointers in the crowd yet. I looked over to my friend I went with and said "Dude this show is sweet but it'd be perfect if I had an effin laser pointer!" and literally within 1 second of me finishing that statement a laser pointer came flying through the air and nailed me right in the side of my face. I looked at the laser pointer on the ground, up at my friend, and we both just broke out into hysterical laughter. ;D

One of my favorite moments was before the Police came out. We sat down beside this guy with a huge blanket. He came over to us, wished us a Happy Bonnaroo, then offered us a cookie for any munchies we may have. He then let us partake in some festivities with him. This guy was my favorite guy during the entire weekend. I wish I caught his name...
Boz's best friend Mo came with us - now - Mo and I get along - for short periods of time - but we had already discovered in the past that if you expose us to each other for longer periods - we both turn into complete bitches towards each other - we are very much alike in temperment.
Anyway - Friday - I spent the whole day - just me & Boz - we finally catch up to the rest of our group - head for Tool, Superjam, DJ Shadow and STS9 - Mo and I were so on the same wavelength that night - we had more fun together then we have ever had or possible ever will - Boz was content to "hold down the fort" on the blanket and soak in everything and just let Mo and I run off to dance at the Disco Arcade and STS9 - I will never ever forget that night - it was so awesome being "at one" with Mo for a change instead of battling him!

This is what I saw that sparked all of that off! It's funny, when I started reading your post my favorite moment that came to mind was the same one! Scott and I refer to you as 'Lord CornCat'.

Thursday night, after stopping by to catch(and be pleasantly surprised by, I must admit) some of Clutch's set, I headed over to the Such N Such stage. What I saw there was totally unforgettable! It would take a LONG time to fully explain what was going on but, it was amazing! There was driving, trancy techno playing while the artists seemed to be getting ready for a show. It was only until half an hour later, when I realized that the show had already started. Strange characters walked on and off stage as this guy sorted through a large trunk. As he was sorting and rearranging various items, they changed into different items (bottles into cats, birds into dolls, blankets into torsos, etc...). I could go on but, it would be very hard to faithfully describe. I'll just say that it was incredibly trippy and well-done. One of the coolest aspects of the never beginning/never ending performance, was the fact that many of the people on the crowd were actually part of the show. There was a woman dancing her ass off while facing the stage but, lovingly cradling a tiny baby when she turned around(eventually she got up and ran back stage with no baby in sight). There was a couple (gf/bf) that constantly alternated dancing then arguing then sleeping then kissing then moving to another spot and starting again. A guy dressed like 80's era Prince sat and stared at me practicly the entire time. Some big biker guy with a cane walked off stage and gradually backed-up against me and just stood there (3 or 4 inches in front of me) looking around but, not ever noticing me. Eventually, he spun around and said "FUCKIN' A!" and hurried back on stage. One guy walked up from (left) behind me and sat down in front of me (off to the right. just in my sight line). He would go through his bag, look distraught, then get up and walk off (diagonally right and forward). Then 2 minutes later, he would do the exact same thing (exact same approach and direction)....then again and again and again....
It was an amazingly strange experience and I will never forget it!
Sorry for rambling for so long but, anyone who was ther will understand.

[quote author=roolacksreality board=general thread=1184616911 post=1184628256 You're really good when it comes to not "threadcraping". I'm not trying to force my mindset on anyone. I was simply making a suggestion for some people who didn't have that great of a time this year. I use the law of attraction because it worksfor me and I understand how to use it, if you want to try it be my guest, but in the end I don't really care what you do. I think it is pretty clear that the purpose of my thread is to try to help out some of the people who didn't have as much un this year as I did. If I went on about the Secret too much I'm sorry, but in the end I was just trying to help out. I was hoping that everyone would focus more on my point of how there will be a part of 'Roo that doesn't change.
I guess I started the thread on wrong, but I guess it's what I get for trying to aide others.
dude, i didn't mean to come across as a jerk. i thought your post was a good one. like i tried to start my post with -- i totally agree that one's mindset changes that person's experiences. and i think that the placebo effect is amazing and part of the reason why we, as a species, have relied on rituals and shamans for centuries. heck, i don't even disagree with the idea that outlook can change reality -- being positive releases seratonin in a very real way in the brain.
i just disagree with the way that that book uses quantum physics to explain that positive thoughts change the outside world. i'm a physics buff and have a special respect for it. i especially love the dualities involved in the double-slit experiment, where it is shown that light is both a wave and particle, and that the act of observation changes the observed. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_slit#Quantum_version_of_experiment but i believe it to be a falacy to extract this experiment to thoughts being made manifest in the world.
looking back on it, i came across as a not-so-nice person in my post, using words like riculous. i'm sorry about that -- i've been higly pressurized lately.[/quote]

And thank you to snootch, oleander, and sweeteviljesus for taking responsibility for how off-topic this thread got. It's no big deal, though. I really don't mind. The continuous battle between you guys and mindexpansion makes me laugh, so all is well.

Glad that we all can provide entertainment for you - LMAO I am sure I would have been up in the middle of it if not for a damn meeting for work. Oh well - the job pays the bills and allows me to surf inforoo most of the time

If nothing else I am here to entertain - I willed myself to entertain through the power of "The Secret", for real.

One good story from this year wasn't anything that spectacular, but it was the first time I felt the Bonnaroo vibe wash over me that weekend.
I was sitting at a picnic table by the mist tent, watching The Black Keys. The sun was beginning to fade. That magical sunset was just starting. I had my arm around the woman I loved(at the time), and I looked around at everyone and realized how content I was in that moment, and a huge smile came across my face. The dust, the heat, the exhaustion did not exist in that moment.

Don't you love that? I haven't ever had anything quite like that feeling.....not yet anyway.

I get at least one of those moments per bonnaroo... This bonnaroo I wasn't able to stay 'in the moment' for as long as I would have liked, but it is surely bliss to look around and see that all is right with your world. Karma for bringing me a little serenity at work.

Karma to you...I was just getting to posting a story like this in another thread but I will continue with the positivity that is trying to take over this thread. I hope no one takes this to heart. IT IS NOT DIRECTED TO ANYONE. Im sorry that many of you had a bad time and many of you didnt find Roo up to your expectations. I cant say that I agree with you, but that is the beauty of opinions, they dont always have to be the same. Honestly I never noticed if my neighbors were being dicks, I never noticed how hot it was, or how exhausted I was, or lines to get in anywhere, or any of the negative things you guys had problems with and maybe because I was so caught up in the moment these things ceased to exist. I am just like Meg in that my glass is always half empty, but for this one weekend a year my glass is always full no matter whats going on around me (in fact, its completely irrelevant). Im not there to stay clean, or make friends (although this is a great perk of Roo), or score drugs, or run around in AC, Im there to hear some great music with the person I love. There were several moments during the weekend that I caught myself smiling for no apparent reason but that I was completely content. If you never had bad experiences then the good ones wouldnt seem so good.

"It is thought that the British Short Haired Cat first came to Britain with the Romans when they invaded us in the 2nd century AD. Its ancestors go even further back in time to the Egyptians and became favorites of the Emperors from 63 BC to 14 AD. They were used to safeguard corn and other food from rodents."
