Sorry I missed meeting some of you guys. Seems we saw some of the same shows but had no idea others were there. Next year, do GroupMe with us. That is how I found everyone.
1. Tangerine Dream-Seeing a legend put on such a great two hour set. And with my husband, who very rarely sees shows with me. 2. SBTRKT-On the rail with inforoosters. 3. Battles-damn they were good. How does Ian Williams play a keyboard with each hand? 4. Amon Tobin-what a visual party for the eyes. And watching the crowd try to find a seat was hilarious. 6. Watching my husband experience dosed wooks dancing at Flying Lotus. 5. Partying with inforoosters.
How beautiful and wonderful and awesome is Asheville you guys? It's like paradise on earth, which is I guess why you have to ascend so much on the drive up.
So beautiful. This was my first time there and I will be back. I enjoyed the shops and art galleries. Met the guys from STS9 while buying my husband a vintage belt buckle.
1. SBTRKT - Blew my mind. I tried to start an "Eight more songs!" chant when they were done, but it didn't catch on. 2. Passion Pit - They really stepped up. Biggest dance party of the weekend, possibly save for... 3. STS9 - It was Jenna's first time seeing them, so even though the setlist was 100% bangers it was an absolute blast. It was kind of a dream come true to shoot them. 4. The Field - Such a beautiful, patient set. The live drums were insane. 5. Flying Lotus - We left early for TV On The Radio, which I don't really regret, but FlyLo was absolutely killing it. Loved the Lil' Wayne stuff and how happy he is to play music. 6. M83 - They just sounded so...immense. 7. Holy F*ck - So intense. Loved it. 8. Mayer Hawthorne - His band is so tight and he is just a really entertaining performer. It was great to get down to some classic-sounding soul in the misty rain. 9. TV On The Radio - We hung back and the crowd seemed really dead/silent, which kind of hurt the performance for me. I thought they were fucking great, though. Much better than the Which Stage performance. 10. The Naked & Famous - Great band! This was my first time even hearing them, and they impressed me so much.
it was great to meet all of you that I haven't before. what a great fest! Asheville is a beautiful city.
here's what I saw: tangerine dream * holy fuck * moby * tvotr adrian belew*flaming lips* amon tobin * sts9* battles beats antique* m83* sdv* passion pit* ghostland observatory
No idea how I'd rank them musically, but Moby and Ghostland were the most fun sets of the weekend for me. Glad I can say I saw Tangerine Dream and basically a King Crimson set.
Did anybody end up seeing Brandt Brauer Frick? I had planned on leaving Battles after 45 minutes and catching most of BBF's set, but the combination of an awesome Battles set and comfortable spot at TWA kept me from actually doing that. I heard that packed Asheville Music Hall to capacity.
I caught them, I couldn't believe they grabbed that big of a crowd. Good for them.
Set was really good. A lot more straight forward edm-ish than I was expecting. Definitely bumped the energy up another notch when compared to the album.
Sounds cool, wish I had seen them. They are supposedly planning another North American tour soon, this time with the full ensemble, so hopefully I can catch them then.

I will be at Moog next year without a doubt.
My schedule was about the same, plus and minus a few. I didn't get to catch Tangerine Dream but everyone told me how awesome it was. Naked and Famous and Dan Deacon were really fun. Having a local inforooster was CLUTCH! Wellbalancedmusic wins Best Guide.
I hopped around and tried to see as many different aritsts as possible. I think I only caught all of the Tim Hecker set. I thought it was great despite the negative reviews on here. Not for everyone though I can understand.
The two biggest mistakes I made was leave M83 early to see John Maus. He only played for thirty minutes and "played" is not a good description at all. He just turned on his pre-recorded music and jumped around on stage yelling and beating his chest over the music and vocals. That was about the biggest drop one could make in one performer to the next. Walking all the way to that venue for performance art was not what I was expecting.
The other was going to see Zomby at the Orange Peel instead of The Field. I didn't get the chance to go to the Orange Peel last year, so I ventured the long walk to see a crap set.
Overall though, a very good festival. Did not make it to the outdoor stage once though. This is a good sister festival to Bonnaroo and I hope that they continue it for a while.
yeah so did anyone enter the clothes drive I brought 2 boxes on sunday and they said they've only had like 10 forms turned in it would be crazy to get tickets for next year I will be going regardless

Asheville is amazing, beautiful, laid back and sooooo welcoming. Loved every minute of the weekend. Moogfest exceed any expectations I had going into it and then some. Definitely recommend going next year to anyone on the fence.
I think we saw you at James Murphy, if you were with a young lady (blonde I think....), and another couple. We had on a duck and rooster mask, about 10 feet away if it was you. We were debating on whether or not to say hello. We are sure we embarrassed Zapp in front of his cutie, and didn't want to do it to another one of you.
Aw, you guys should've said hi, Amy and I would've loved it! That was almost definitely us, even though we were only at that set for maybe 5 minutes. Got there, enjoyed a song, got to shake Murphy's hand as he walked right by us to go talk to the soundboard guy in the middle of the set (!!!), dipped out to see Passion Pit.
DANG! Then it was totally you. Murphy walked by us on the way to the sound board as well. We were right beside you! Maybe next festival.

Anything you guys wish you didn't miss? I'm sad I had to miss the gold panda and brant brauer frick sets. I was also disappointed in Little Dragon and Glasser having to cancel. All the time was still well spent watching other stuff so no real regrets.

Tobacco and everything else on Friday. STS9. Crystal Castles and UM were my big conflict misses.

I would have liked to see Brandt Brauer Frick, St. Vincent, Moon Duo, and Tim Hecker, but I'm okay with the choices I made in all those situations. My two biggest regrets are The Field and SBTRKT. I saw about 15 minutes of both, but I wish I had skipped disappointing sets by Grimes and the Rileys to see more.
Ended up taking a second trip there (tickets were good all day) after Ford & Lopatin finished up early. Was the perfect way to relax a bit before Gold Panda.

I was planning on going to the eno talk and the 77 million on Saturday but I was more tired than I expected so I never got around to it. Did anybody check out any of the panels?
I went to 77 Million Paintings. I wasn't really sure how I felt about it until I read the quote on the wall outside the piece. That quote put it into a context that made sense to me (the one about Eno exploring music as a still form and painting as a moving form, as it is usually the opposite...anyone read this?).
My wife asked me point blank if I liked it because of the creator and the answer is no. The images caused me to think a lot. There was one, a thumbprint, that I got fixated on and couldn't stop. It lasted the duration of the trip with me thinking about a thumbprint. It was wicked dark in there, though. I thought I was gonna trip over somebody.
I know I told Rosko about meeting him and getting his autograph but forgot to mention that in here. He was leaving the exhibit as we came in there, between M83 and Passion Pit. He barely made eye contact and didn't really say a single thing to address us but hey we got his autograph!
I thought 77 Million Paintings was pretty cool but seemed maybe geared for psychedelics or something. I thought it was crazy how no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't really pinpoint any single change that was occurring since it was all moving so slow. Before I knew it, it was just something else. Pretty neat.

Ha! What are the odds? I will absolutely make sure I meet you guys next year at Bonnaroo or Moogfest.

Dude, that is so awesome. Also, I have a friend who was in the 2nd row of TWA for St. Vincent and he swears that Brian Eno tried to get in the pit for St. Vincent but the dumbass security guards turned him down because they didn't know who he was :/
And that was the exact thing I noticed about the piece, Zapp. I was all like, "that flower and those squigglies weren't there a minute ago...were they?!" It was pretty cool how some other focal point in the art would divert your attention away from the art that was changing so you never actually SAW it undergo the change, it was just your logic telling you, "hey, that wasn't there a second ago." Pretty cool. I took a picture with my cell phone before someone politely asked me to put my phone away; I'll try to upload that on here later.
Unless that might get me into trouble and/or piss off Moog/AC/Eno? What are the rules on that with visual art like this? Better err on the side of caution.

Yeah, you guys left pretty quickly. We were waiting for our moment and you were gone like a ninja.
Funny how some random strangers you see in the crowd dozens of time throughout the weekend. I saw this same dude with dreads and a big nose like 10 times. Then, people you are actually hoping to see, you see for a split second or not at all.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Also, Eno is a GENIUS! He has a brilliant, wandering and complex mind. He was hard to follow at times, but I was blown away by his talk (in between SFA snoring next to me
