I'm very surprised no one is listing the SuperJam.
I thought SuperJam was a pretty big disappointment. They were super late starting it, they only had one guest come in and the clarinet from the Preservation Hall Jazz Band had a mic that didn't work at all on it. Totally kicking myself for not going to EITS like planned.
Wow, I must have missed something. In 08 I looked into !!! but couldn't get into it, and didn't go see them. Here, 3 years later, they're getting allot of praise from the concert goers. Off topic, kind of, but what albums should I look at?
1. Buffalo Springfield (Sorry guys, you really did have to get there early. If you did, you didn't regret it.) 2. Jamie McLean (On-Tap Lounge set.) 3. My Morning Jacket (Incredible.) 4. Dr. John & The Meters 5. Superjam
Also great: Primus, Hayes Carll, New Orleans Allstars, Galactic, etc.
1. J. Roddy Walston & the Business - it was great to be 12 feet from my favorite band while everyone else was apparently being disappointed by Buffalo Springfield 2. Stuffed & Unstrung - I didn't know puppets were so corrupt 3. Gogol Bordello 4. Arcade Fire 5. String Cheese Incident, who I am not a fan of, but we happened to walk down the food aisle just as all the craziness was beginning. I'm sorry I underestimated them in the past because that show was amazing! T Rex, jetpacks, fire- what more could you ask for?
One more mention- we gave Omar Souleyman a try (and I liked the awkwardness of it all) but there was an elderly-ish man to the right of the tent who was carrying a blow-up doll. Also in his hand were some unglowing-glow necklaces that he was more or less shaking at people in an angry manner. Very strange.
1. My Morning Jacket (pit, main stage sound was INSANE) 2. Buffalo Springfield (right behind the pit, absolutely amazing guitar work and harmonies) 3. Arcade Fire (pit, Month of May was a wrecking ball) 4. The Walkmen (surprised the hell out of me) 5. Portugal. the Man (John's voice is even better now if that's possible)
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

1. Gogol Bordello 2. J. Roddy Walston (Glad to see someone else put that in their top 5... I hope he made a lot of new fans) 3. Grace Potter (These three were by far my favorites) 4. Florence 5. Buffalo Springfield (We saw the last half hour or so... it was my first time seeing Neil and he was everything I heard).

He was at Ben Sollee's Sonic Stage set too. Definitely creepy.
MMJ - big fan. First time seeing them. Got a pit spot. Unbelievable. Arcade Fire - have had trouble getting into them, LOVED this set and their visual set up. Robyn - yes, Robyn. I was second row and the crowd and her energy were out of control. It was her birthday and she commented that it was her best crowd to date. She was incredibly sexy as well. String Cheese Incident - the craziest spectacle I've ever seen. Band of Skulls - was not prepared for their awesomeness. Excellent set.
Honorable Mention - the end of Bootsy. Did he play for like 3.5 hours? I left Black Keys and he was still playing. I've never danced so much and the few people there were going nuts.

From a 51 year-old guy
1. Mumford 2. Decemberists 3. Grace Potter 4. Strokes 5. Buffalo Springfield
Bootsy was an hour and a half late getting on and the crowd was getting ugly. He was "introduced" by JB Smoove. Bootsy tured the crowd quickly, but I needed to get out to see Buffalo Springfield (if I remember correctly)
1. Buffalo Springfield 2. Primus 3. Widespread Panic 4. Greg Allman 5. Jovanotti (very surprised at how fun this was!)
Honorable mention goes to Gogol Bordello (including their surprise acoustic set after Jovanotti), Karen Elson, and Black Joe Lewis.
The first 20-30 minutes of Bootsy was all I got to see because he was an hour and a half late starting and I wanted to get close for Buffalo Springfield which was well worth it. But after the awesome beginning of Bootsy, it was really hard to leave. Probably could've cracked the top 5 had I seen the entire show.
I enjoyed Robert Plant so much that I decided to stay for the whole show and not head to the Superjam early. So glad I did, the rest of the superjam was a huge disappointment to me. I ended up walking away from it to meet friends for Widespread Panic before it was even completely over. And this was one of my more anticipated sets of the weekend.

3. Primus (Great set but where was My Name is Mud?)
They didn't play it in 2004, either (and if there was ever a show for that to be played, the midnight mud-fest was it). I think they tend to shy away from playing it, since it's their biggest "hit." Kind of like Radiohead and "Creep." I could be wrong (I haven't looked at any setlists), but that's the vibe I got.
they played it at hangout. they mix it up every night.
Juggs, band of skulls were solid for the entire set, especially the make vocalist/lead guitar. He is heavily influenced by jack white that is for sure. Vocals on some songs sound like jack, but his solos were what was so similar in style. Just great, energetic, head bobbing music. Deerhunter edged them out for best thursday act barely, but only because of the slightly psychedelic feel to the show and my state of mind at that moment
SuperJam - I could see some people being disappointed by it because it was all classic New Orleans music, but since that's what I grew up on it was a pretty powerful experience for me. Pat Hallahan did percussion and the Pres. Hall came up for a few songs too.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
My Morning Jacket - got to rage the pit with some Inforooers, and that was the closest I've ever seen Chaqueta from. It was great to see them deliver an incredible set on the grandest stage of them all. It also made me really happy to talk to random people throughout the weekend and hear so much love for their set.
STS9 - The energy in that tent was unreal all night. It was completely packed out the whole time and everything sounded so on point and energetic. The atmosphere really made this one of, if not the top STS9 shows I've seen.
Mavis Staples - What a beautiful spirit this woman has. I teared up at a couple of points, just out of sheer joy. The stage made a lovely shade spot for those of us in the pit as well.
Deerhunter - Brought the weirdness and really brought the heat as well. Ah Thursdays.
Buffalo Springfield - Neil is a quacking madman! This was such a great time, nothing but happy spirits and getting down. It was a pleasure to watch nutso tripping guy complete 3,100 spins with you, apostle2.

I take it most of you did not make it till Monday. My list: 1. Widespread Panic!!!!!!! (missed connection with girl I gave water to wearing long yellow tank top???) 2. MMJ!!! 3. Black Keys/Arcade Fire 4. Buffalo spring field. 5. Eminem

Didn't make it to the farm this year, but I WAS at Mountain Jam last weekend and I still can't stop talking about Mavis! What an unexpected and overwhelmingly excellent surprise that set was. I has planned to check it out anyway, but I was totally taken by her voice and her presence. Makes sense, the woman's been doing it for well over 50 damn years, but still- so awesome. I'm glad you had a similar reaction to her show this weekend.
1. Arcade Fire - loved the lights, the videos, the stage presence, the crowd - everything 2. Florence - I was amidst the sweaty masses for this one and it was so worth it 3. Black Keys - I did most of my listening and dancing from the Porto line in the back but it was still fun 4. River City Extension - this was my first time hearing them and my first Roo concert and I was so pumped. I loved the brass!! 5. Mumford - I was looking forward to this one so much but didn't get there in time to get a good spot so I was surrounded by talking less fanatic people an could barely hear them, otherwise this set probably would have been closer to the top
