Just thank christ you didn't venture into Mississippi.
What's that supposed to mean??? There was virtually no construction in Mississippi - one 8 mile section of one lane that we had no problems with at all
The last time I drove through (top to bottom) mississippi was a nightmare... It was 4 years ago, but my god, do I still remember the construction....
Don't take offense kballard. Everyone likes to biznatch about road construction. In Tennessee, the orange cones are our unofficial state bird. And don't get me stared about Memphis.
Comeon, aside from the clusterfuck that is the 40/240/Sam Cooper flyover, Memphis' interstates don't have that much construction. Granted, no one, including people who drive the interstate daily, know what the interstates are named, or where they go, no one merges in a polite fashion, and doing the speedlimit on Nonconah will result in you being shot at... but all things considered, memphis interstates aren't that bad.
Now, if your beef with memphis is because of Union Ave, well, I understand. First time I ever drove on Union, I ran 3 people clean the fuck off the road. Several years back, however, it was redesigned to be a standard 2+2 road.

Fun Fact: The first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant was opened in 1952, many, many miles away from the poor road conditions of the Blue Grass State, nope the first KFC was opened in Salt Lake, Utah.

Well, the Colonel was real proud of his recipe and in turn he was extremely serious about his restaurants. He had a reputation of being hard on his employees. We're talking about fast-food chicken shack employees here. KFCs often are god-awful because they're selling fried chicken that they have to let sit for awhile before it is served, the grease may not be taken care of properly, etc. Fried chicken preparation can get realllly nasty if not taken with extra care. He wasn't the "Chicken Devil" for nothing.
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.

"merges in a polite fashion"?!
Clearly you've never really travelled above the mason Dixon, or you would certainly know that there is noting polite about how we change lanes.
To make things worse, in NJ there is a thing known as "the jersey slide" and it goes a little like this:
You realize that you're in the far left lane doing 85mph and need to get over to your exit ramp which is coming up in the next 5 seconds.
The solution to your problem: without signaling, jerk the wheel to the right and hope you don't hit anyone/make it to the exit in time.

The first KFC was opened in South Salt Lake, UT and yes the Colonel's first restaurant was in Corbin. He left that area, because....
because of the roads! they were not building the interstate through Corbin, so he packed up, hit the road, and headed out West.
KFC was my first job. I would always bringing home left over chicken. Call me crazy, but I still like KFC, but recently Popeye's has taken over.

I guess he made his point becuase now there is an exit about 2 miles from the orignal in Corbin.
I will call you crazy, because I stop at KFC maybe once a year thinking its gonna be decent and everytime I leave thinking why the hell did I just do that to myself.
I get my fried chicken from the grocery store by my house it is called Sureway ask Pondo he lives in Henderson and they have one there it is owned by the Piggly Wiggly chain. They get Chicken fried just right! I ate some for lunch and some Kings Hawaiian rolls.

Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I would think that was not the only Fried Chicken shack in Corbin in 1950, when the "Chicken Devil" left Kentucky, it was most likely the best thing for KFC. Bonzai, like many people in the south, I grew up on Fried chicken. It was one of the first things I learned to cook. When you make it to Florida we will get you some Popeyes.
I love Popeye's chicken!! Its become a tradition for me and my friend to stop at the Travel Center of America just southeast of Nashville on 24. We stop and fill up on Popeye's before driving the final leg to the Farm.
