Is it impossible to get Wednesday arrival for West Woods camping? I don't see the option on the website. That would be ideal for me. West Woods sounds like where I'd rather be regardless, and I'm trying to keep costs down since I'm only splitting camping with one other guy.
Wow you are prepared! can i camp by you?? lol I bought the early arrival camping pass, and looking into getting an E Z up now. Can't wait!
The more the merrier!
What day are you going in?? ive decided against VIP but still have my early arrival camping pass. i plan on getting there as early as i can, even if i have to sit in a line thats not moving. Tailgate party anyone? lol

It would be a mad land rush... i think id rather be set up in main venue early -- taking advantage of the daylight and having a cold brew by the time people start to flood the place, but thats just me lol

Eh, I would need to leave crazy early to get there with daylight left on Wednesday anyway. Probably easiest to just leave a little before noon on Wednesday and shoot for a midnight arrival.
Honestly, when you figure in everything that VIP gets you, it really is worth it! In my opinion, the best way the experience Wakarusa! The food was great and LOTS of it! Pop, water, beer tickets (I think), all the other stuff I'd have to spend $ on... Also, the camping is nice and wooded. Lots of shade and a short walk to the main stage. The VIP viewing area is great. You are basically in the "photo pit" RIGHT in front of the stage! Great if you want to get some awesome photos! I am personally very happy to see Keller Williams in the line-up. It's been too long since I've had a chance to see him and his new projects! Here is the exclusive interview Waka did with Keller. I think he's excited to be back on the Mountain, too.
My Waka crew is down to me and another Waka noob I have a couple of questions I'm hoping someone can answer: 1. Bugs? Outside of a mean, hairy spider I gave my tent to in '10 (didn't want to kill it, too scared to catch it, certainly not sharing a closed space I've never noticed many bugs at Roo. I've heard about chiggars (sp?) and not sure what they are or how to keep them away. Any insight? 2. Portos? Okay, I know that no pristine porto exists that I'd want o hang out in, but how dirty are they at Waka? 3. Showers and water in the campsite? I have a Main Venue camping pass, so are there shower trailers or water stations like Roo? Should I bring my shower tent and solar shower? 4. Worst case scenario in MV camping, how far is the walk? 5. Will a Ford Taurus make it up the moutain loaded down? 6. Is there a several hour wait to get in? I didn't do the early arrival because we can't leave KY until Wed afternoon at the earliest, so should we come on down and plan for a middle of the night arrival or wait until the middle of the night and plan for an early morning arrival?
Thanks for answering my questions. I know that Waka has a board, too, but I love Bonnaroo and Inforoo and trust your judgement I'm so looking forward to this summer!!! I like both lineups so much I can't stand it! Is anyone else going to do both Waka and Roo?
1. I have not noticed bugs, but have heard some horror stories about scorpions. I think that's worse the closer you are to the woods (and so do the bears), but hopefully someone else can step in on that one. 2. Cleanest portos of my life. Seriously. I was shocked. 3. Don't know cause I'm a baby wipe girl. 4. 15mins? Tops. And that's probably being really safe. 5. My Ford Contour had no probs. 6. Not sure about getting there super early. I showed up in 2010 at 3:30ish (PM) after some car trouble and waited about an hour.

Is anyone else going to do both Waka and Roo?[/quote]
I'm doing Summercamp == > Waka for sure and close to closing out the trifecta with Roo, just waiting on one other person to confirm. If that's the case, my brain will be pudding by the end of Roo but i have the summer off to re-cooperate so its all good. Speaking of All Good, I'm probably going there instead of Electric Forest too. It's going to be a summa to rememba, thank goodness for cameras to help me fill in the blanks lol
Thanks, Clarity! Scorpions, seriously? and I was worried about chiggars! lol! Good news about the portos, though! Trip, sounds like an awesome summer! I'm adding on Waka this year and hoping to add on every couple of years. When my kids graduate from high school (the youngest will graduate in four years I'm hoping to travel and fest that entire summer, coast to coast. Thanks for your help! CAN'T WAIT FOR JUNE!!!!
Scorpions...holy poop are you kidding me?! Either way I'm getting excited. Now that the Roo lineup is out all I'm waiting on is All Good lineup so I can decide what my plans are.
And hey, kballard, it's nice to see another poster from the 'Ville here!
EDIT: Anyone ever done VIP at Waka? Is it worth it? What kind of perks do you get?

Thanks, Banshee! I've lived in Louisville my whole life! Excited for Forecastle this year!!! Are you going?
Very cool, I just moved here not too long ago. I am very excited for Forecastle. My festival plans definitely include Forecastle plus Bonnaroo or Waka or All Good, depending on which lineup of those three is the best. I really like the Waka lineup, kinda on the fence about 'Roo, so I'm just waiting for All Good!
But all I needed to see for Forecastle was MMJ and I was sold! Plus I get the huge luxury of being able to sleep and shower in my OWN apartment, no camping or hotels for me

Better get those Waka tickets soon!!! They just went up in price on the 11th and they are selling fast! Its going to be such an amazing year. All of the those great performers in such a beautiful setting. Gotta love it.
First time at Waka, just have a few questions before I buy my tickets.
1. As far as camping goes, we would like to be in the shade. Are the woods the best way to go for this? I don't mind a couple bugs but I've been reading and I've seen there are BEARS?! WHAT THE HELL? 2. How far is the walk from the woods to the stages? And to the river to cool down? 3. How's security? As intense as at the roo?
Thanks guys, can't wait to see you all out there this year!
Oh snap! Just saw the additions! Soulive, Lettuce, Goddamn Gallows, Bright Light Social Hour! I love this vid of Soulive doin "Eleanor Rigby/ I Want You (She's so Heavy)"! Dang im hyped!

i'm sooo sooo sooo envious of all getting these tix... on vaca at the moment and trying to head to oregon next so until i get a plan together i can not buy anymore tix past roo but i'm so jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yea i have a feeling i'm going to be super blown away by my first Waka. I'm taking a RV to Summercamp, sooooo wish i could bring it to Waka but its just too much gas money. But, i will have a nice lil set up in mainstage camping. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
I'm really excited for Bonnaroo, as always, but can't wait for my first Waka! I did see a video on Waka's forum about wild hogs. Scorpions, bears and wild hogs!!! What the heck am I getting into?!!? Hopefully I won't see any of those, but will make for fun pictures if I do! It's amazing for me to think about I had never even camped in a tent before Bonnaroo '09. I've come a long way, baby! I haven't been active much on the boards but hoping to meet some inforoosters this year! Corie, I think I saw you last year after a late night (it was light outside, though) but my tongue was a little fuzzy and I wasn't sure I wanted to start a convo with someone if it wasn't you. I recognized your hat from Facebook. If I see you this year, I'll say hi! Banshee, I go to shows at Headliners about 3-4 times a month, give or take. I'll also be at the Dark Side of the Wall this weekend at the Brown. We should meet up sometime if we're at the same show. I literally have two friends that care anything at all about music or music fests. It's hard to be so excited about lineup time, ticket time and prep time with nobody to talk to! My poor husband's eyes glaze over when I say "Bonnaroo, Waka, festival or music"
