Between that, Michael becoming his own Omar, and Dookie falling into the streets it just is a proper ending. Also Marlo picking up more lines for that prison scene "my name IS my name!" was real powerful. The money is good, but its all about the crown for these guys.
Unresolved: What was up with that Omar nametag switch scene at the morgue?

I think (but am not sure as I haven't re-watched it or read about it recently) the toe-tag thing was to show that he's just another body. He may have been king and legendary on the streets but in the end he was just another person on the table. There may be more significance to it but that's what I was thinking.

The HD re-airing of The Wire is official and David Simon wrote a long blog about why you may or may not like the new HD. Good read with some cool videos that show the comparison between the SD and HD shots. Warning: The videos and blog contain some spoilers so don't go watch/read if you haven't seen the show already.

Finally finished watching it. What a great show.
3 4 1 2 5
My favorite part of the series is that the writers aren't afraid to kill off main characters. By season 5 it did catch up to me that there were no people on the street I liked anymore. Seasons 3 and 4 are in my top 5 for best seasons of any show.

Oh. I started this yesterday. But it seems the app I'm streaming off of is very unreliable. I started episode 4 this morning at work, and now it won't play and I have no idea why.

S1E4 has one of the best scenes in the whole show! See if you can guess which one I'm talking about.

I'm on episode 7 and so far my favorite characters are Wallace, Bubbles and Omar. If any of them die I'm going to be really pissed. The fat white detective who keeps taking about his stripes (I think he's a Sgt.?) can go fuck himself. He's super annoying.
Those are my thoughts at the half way point for season one. I have some other ones but I'm going to wait to vocalize those until the story develops more.

Landsman? He has at least one awesome scene in the series. It involves a copy machine.

Please update us every now and then on your progress! It really is fun to see how people's feelings about characters change over time.

Landsman is a good character. He has moments where you see the humanity behind him even though he's one of the best "office suck ups" on the series. He's totally a company man who follows chain of command and hates people going against orders. Mostly a dick but that's because of the bigger dicks he has breathing down his neck.
It's always great to see his admiration (and sucking up) to Rawls.
Yea, I was going to say something when you posted that, but thought better of it.
Well, when he came back I had a feeling it was going to happen so I cheated and looked at IMDB. It said he was in 13 episodes so I got false hope that he'd make it till the end of the season at least. I tend to get worked up about things and can't wait. It's why I'm always asking for spoilers, yet no one ever caves.

Season 2 is a lot like Season 1 in the sense that you have to re-train your brain how to watch it. You can't go in expecting it's just going to be the same kind of stuff as season one. There's a bit of it but in the end this season is so worth it.

I agree. I didn't read anything on the internet till I finished the second season and was stunned that other people didn't like it. There's so much good stuff going on! Frank Sobotka is such a great character. That's when they introduce The Greek. And there's so many good moments like D's close reading of The Great Gatsby.
Anyway, yea, it's great. If that's the worst The Wire has to offer (as I have seen some people suggest) then it's a pretty damn good show.
Sorry if this is spoilery. I will edit if someone thinks I should.

Watching the finale of season 4 and gotta say again.....Landsman has his good side. All the stuff in the opening scenes with Bubbles and the other detective. Really great work. I love seeing Landsman's chuckle at the wall graffiti in the bathroom.

I'm just happy to know Bubbles is going to make it till at least the season 4 finale!!
Also, I'm not into season 2 like I was season 1. It's not bad, it's just not as riveting as I was hoping. Maybe I've just been too distracted while watching these episodes so I'm not totally into them? But I just don't find the dock cases as interesting as the gang case. I'm on episode 10 tho. But it won't freaking load again. So frustrating.
I liked D'Angelo as a character. But his death didn't affect me at all. I knew it was coming, but I knew Wallace was coming too. I actually gasped when they shot Wallace and when D'Angelo was yelling at Stringer asking where Wallace was I started crying. With D'Angelo's death I was just kinda like, "well that's fucked up." But had no real emotional response.
Just an example of my disconnect with this season.
