They also covered Sabbath's "It's Alright" on their Live Era '87-'93 disc. Granted, that's the most tennuous of the three links. It is used as in intro to "November Rain", "linking it" to a version of Sabbath.
Thats a duality, or a positive and negative, ala a Magnet
"Canton-bound"
Shannon Sharpe is in the 2011 NFL Hall of Fame class.
"Ascension linked to versions of the Sabbath"
Alex Ebert (Edward Sharpe's lead singer) was named by his father.
From Wikipedia "His full birth name was "Alexander Michael Tahquitz Ebert". His father took one of his son's names, Tahquitz, from his favorite climbing rock (ascension means to move upwards in climbing and mountaineering). Alex later on discovered that the name means "demon" in a Native American language."
"Verions of the Sabbath"
Black Sabbath sang a song with Ian Gillian called "Zero the hero"
This is awesome. Edward Sharpe was one of the best shows of Roo '10. Would love to see them back.

Ya'll know if there's any way to make the message board to show up in normal colors so it's not really obvious that I'm on some weird shit at work? Also hi

Maybe a late night set?
Makes me wish The Cure had made it into the Rock Hall over G&R then we would be discussing them as a possible clue.
Note that, since it's at the beginning of a sentence, we can be talking about either upper or lower case "canton." A canton is the name of a subdivision of a country, like Switzerland... Just trying to shake it up, see where it gets us.
In an interview for VH1's "Heavy: The Story of Metal," Dio stated that the song is about the ability of each human being to choose between doing good and doing evil, essentially that each person has "heaven and hell" inside themselves
Referring to the song Heaven and Hell. Just need to connect this to canton-bound and an ascension, and we might have something

Well Canton bound coud indicate they are already in the HOF and Ascension could be related to the passing of Dio. As in Heaven or hell? Black Sabbath my final answer.

I'm with Cokes direction here... Canton=NFL Hall of Fame so something with football names involved. But mainly we should figure out bands who cover Black Sabbath songs...that seems like a pretty solid hint.

The Pixies
Good or Evil?
From the pixie wikipedia page talking about a poem written by Nora Chesson: "She touches on all the essentials, including even more modern accretions. Pixies are "in-between", not cursed by God or especially blessed...."
Canton-Bound
Not necessarily anything connecting them to the NFL hall of fame, but many believe that they will eventually be in the rock and roll hall of fame.
Ascension linked to versions of the Sabbath.
I can't quite link ascension to pixies(unless you say it's the part that they can fly), "but the term Sabbath has been used to describe a similar weekly observance in any of several other traditions..." including "...any of eight annual pagan festivals". In some forms of paganism faeries/pixies appear quite a bit.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
For those following the NFL Hall of Fame thread, here's a good summary from the folks at PFT of those most likely to be bound to Canton in the next five years:
Tiki Barber Bill Cowher Bill Parcells Will Shields Rod Smith Jerome Bettis Curtis Martin Andre Reed Tim Brown Cris Carter Willie Roaf Dermontti Dawson Chris Doleman Charles Haley Cortez Kennedy Paul Tagliabue Larry Allen Morten Andersen Priest Holmes Steve McNair Jonathan Ogden Warren Sapp Michael Strahan Bryant Young Tony Dungy Marvin Harrison Isaac Bruce Edgerrin James Walter Jones Ty Law Kevin Mawae Orlando Pace Junior Seau Kurt Warner Brett Favre Randy Moss Terrell Owens
Emoney and I have been working on it over in chat and I think we came up with something good.
As Emoney mentioned earlier Heaven and Hell is a Sabbath song which deals with Good and Evil. Another artists who wrote and performed a song named Heaven and Hell is Raekeon. In fact according to wikipedia it was his first solo single. Which fits the ascension linked to a version of the Sabbath. Raekwon's birth name is Corey Woods. Corey Woods is also an NFL football player who went to college at the University of Akron, right outside of Canton. Further establishing the Akron connection, CPK pointed out, Raekwon was featured on the BlackRoc album by the Black Keys.
