So I signed up for this today and began earning points. However, I have a few questions:
1) If I raise the necessary points for the tickets, am i ensured the ability to get one? I know they release them as a reward on the website, but do they run out? I'm just afraid that I am going to bank on this happening and end up missing out on the festival because I can't get a ticket from here and its too late to get one from Roo's website. 2) How exactly does the poster distribution order work? It says I have to take 25 pictures, but what am I supposed to take pictures of, just the posters after I've hung them up?
They say the only way to ensure a ticket is to actually buy it. If you get the 16,000 points you need though you'll get one. They put 100 up last year and said they would add more if need be and I don't even think it went out of stock. I'm only 2,000 points away so I'll get one but they seem to not be throwing out the points this year like they did last year.
They mail them to you and you go put them up then take 25 pictures of the posters you have put up and upload them into your order.
Apologies if I have skimmed over it, but do the points carry over to next year? I've already written off this year but it would be nice to get an early jump on next.
Mountain Oasis is new but they make them available for Forecastle and Moogfest. I can only assumer they will for Mountain Oasis. Forecastle is in more limited quantities due to capacity issues. Moogfest is in highly limited quantities since all of the shows are in bars/clubs. Pretty sure they make you do a Moogfest route just to be eligible to get a ticket.

Okay, awesome, thanks for the response. I don't think I'll have a problem getting the points though because I live in NYC and it doesn't seem like many people are ordering the posters for this area, and mine are already on their way. This actually leads to my next question, which is:
Does anyone know if the posters go quicker for the second run compared to the first one?
Depends completely on the market you are going after. My market goes instantly every time. From what I can see with your market there are only 13 of you in NYC and half of them seem to be inactive. If they put 10 runs up for your market I would bet that you're pretty much guaranteed a second run.

Awesome! Thanks a bunch for the info, you guys are the best.
Can't wait to get back to the farm, for free this time!
Hey all, they put up some new poster routes today for people who still need to hit those major points. It's a good day if you live in Florida. Hakuna is this any help? The numbers are the number of routes available.
Boulder, CO (2) Auburn, AL (2) Cookeville, TN out of stock Daytona, FL (1) Denver, CO (2) Ft. Lauderdale (2) Miami, FL (2) Orlando, FL (1) Tampa, FL (1)

Thanks for the heads up! I may have to look into the logistics, they basically all are 2 hours away so I'm not sure it would be worth it if I end up coming short on points.
For those of you who have postered in the past. I know they want pictures but do they want pictures where the poster is clear or the business is clear or Huh??? Posters are in and I want to get started but I also don't want to waste anybody's time.

Also interested in this, just picked up 2 of the FL markets, haven't postered before. Any hints, tips, or tricks would be greatly appreciated.
I've found in the past that usually as long as the picture of the poster is clear it's good. I always try and get as much of the surroundin' area as possible though.

For those still wondering about postering, I just completed my first run last night, hung my posters on campus at my local university, everything was in a public place, I put a few on lamp posts and trash cans, but mostly everything was a store/restaurant front and also public bulletin board, I also detailed a list of each poster's location
My submission was approved within 20 minutes, and now I'm one run away from a free ticket!

You hadn't done anything else?? Reason I ask is because one of my friends didn't get pre-show volunteering and is now skeptical about going.

The poster runs for most cities have already been taken, but it's worth checking -- and more likely on a second run. Issue might be that even with one poster round/bunch of the smaller order; you still might not make the ~16k points (we are assuming). It will help you to future festies and most likely the next roo.
and Jizz, Like Cumshot - congrats. Can't wait to finish up more order today/this week. All my poster pics are done, but inclement weather keeps slowing me down. How many spots did you have on your written list?
I took my 10 year old with me Saturday & we had a blast. He took photos & kept a list on his ipod. Of course I think it's what has done my back in this week. I have all my photos taken, I just need to hit up some places that were closed & I should be done.

My 12 year old and I had a good time but we ran into quite a few closed things. I was stunned to see that he student union and campus library were closed on a Sunday at like 11 am!

My only pet peeve about the run is that, so many of the college's here in NYC have closed campus/ID policies. It's a major target audience and I know I can only really get into Columbia U's buildings (b/c of friends I've worked with).
Hehe, and I need a little helper!! Send me one! custeph

We had the same problem. It was spring break so that had a lot to do with it. Thursday while Emma is at dance I'll hit up the bars that were closed & call it a day.

Let me see what I can arrange, but you'll have to keep him for awhile! The teenage years are going to kill me.
I just ordered handbills for Merlefest (which I am going to anyway). What do I have to do with these?
Follow the directions they give you on the order (it should end up in your email anyway) -- I'm assuming you have to do hand-outs during the fest or possibly some posters. I've seen people do such at festivals; so that's my assumption
