Damn! Well as long as there is a DC poster run I should be able to do it. What all do you have to do for a poster run?
Hang up 100 posters around the city - cafe bulletin boards, record store windows, etc - and get proof (a picture) for 25 of them (I think - might have been more). One poster run is worth 8,000 points. A ticket is 16,000 points.
It's a good idea to get more than 25 photos just in case they don't approve all of your photos!
nashcar not sure exactly where you live, but there's usually two routes fer DC and two fer Richmond. If you can trek further North they usually do two Baltimore routes as well. Generally college towns in the mid-Atlantic get some routes.

Hey Dan I live in Harrisonburg Va. So I'm about an hour and a half from Richmond and 2.5 hours from DC. Also live in a college town and UVA is about 40 mins from my house. If they have Richmond runs and DC runs I should be ok.
just a heads up, they added 9 orders today. 3 for roo lineup announcement all social media platforms, 3 for forecastle addition clue #1, 3 for forecastle addition clue #2

Hey has anyone ever seen a poster run for Detroit? And do poster runs just appear where the rest of the orders do? Thanks! I'm new to the process so just trying to get the most points possible. I'm at 6,125. Hoping I can make it! :/

I think poster runs vary in point awards, no? The two I did for Forecastle last year were 5000 each and some others have been less. I started a little later than this and wouldn't have been close to 16k without them. Social media alone, plus 2k (?) for the Forecastle promo at Roo last year should net one ticket this year, almost there.
And you've got to be quick to grab them before someone else does, because there are usually only a couple or a few per market. Trying Baltimore and/or RIchmond or wherever is great advice for someone in Baltimore. I'm near Akron, OH and did one in Cleveland 40 minutes or so from home, and one in Pittsburgh which is a little over an hour away and definitely worth the drive. I would have done Columbus too but other folks snapped them up before I had a chance - they go quick in some towns. Consider any offers reasonably nearby if you need points.

All very good points! Poster routes do tend to go quick!
And yes, F me, I quit America, poster routes and their points rewarded will be different dependin' on which festival/event it is fer. Bonnaroo promotions are always worth the most and go the quickest.
Just getting started with this stuff. Should have signed up so long ago. Going to sign up today hopefully for tickets next year.
Is there a good primer/FAQ page they have? Like what is essential for me to know?
there isn't a whole lot to it other than sharing stuff on facebook, retweeting tweets, and regramming gramz. i connected my social media platforms at the beginning but i'm not sure if it really does anything for you since you verify your shares with screenshots anyway.
i usually check orders twice a day or so. once completed they'll usually approve them within a few days. sometimes it's one day, but it's taken up to ~5 before. they get around to them eventually.
go ahead and knock out all the permanent orders such as liking all the facebook pages and following the twitter and instagram accounts. it declutters your orders page and are free points.
i haven't done a poster run yet, but you should get a notification email when they pop up and then you go and "buy" them in the rewards store for free. can't offer anymore details seeing as i haven't participated.
one thing that i find really helpful/useful was the Regrann app for easily reposting on instagram. it's quick, easy to use, and looks good unlike other apps or methods i've tried. highly suggest downloading that app.
that's about all i can think of. i've only been doing it since last august so maybe others who've been at it longer have other tips or insight to provide. hope this helps!

Looks like you can go here but it's more a support page than FAQ: link
Just some things to note - orders usually get posted and are due within 2 weeks generally. I have it set up in my account for them to send me an email so I don't have to log on constantly and check. I recently started using the Fancorps app and can submit things much quicker IMO. Social media orders are worth 100 points per order per media outlet so poster runs are quicker if you're wanting a ticket this year. For the past few years, you could do 2 Bonnaroo poster runs at 8,000 points a piece which would get you a Bonnaroo GA ticket. Points roll over every year so if you're not feeling the lineup one year, you can keep doing the orders and possibly have enough points by the next year for 2 tix. Oh and they won't let you upgrade no matter how many times we ask.
There's a forum on the website that can sometimes be helpful, and you can also email or message your Community Manager with questions. They're really responsive.

Does anyone who did this last year know when the poster runs started? Also doe sit pop right up on available orders screen or do you have to go hunt for it?

I believe the ones for Bonnaroo started in February or late January...it was a few weeks after the lineup came out because they have to print and mail the posters. They'll usually put up a message in the Bonnaroo forum with a specific time/date of when the poster routes will be posted. They go very quickly for a lot of cities so I'd be logged in and prepared as if you were buying concert tickets you knew would sell out!
I really wish they would do Tumblr posts too.. because I can't get myself to do the Instagram orders.. My 'grams are usually my DSLR photos or street art grabs and I feel like I'm polluting my artistic ideals... blah..

this is exactly what i do. i also only share my facebook posts with one person. it's kinda cheating but i supported roo the last two years with the full price of a ticket. street team or volunteer is how i'll be able to afford this year, and i'm planning on volunteering anyway to get my foot in the door. if i earn enough points for a ticket i'll be giving it to my brother or someone else that can't afford it otherwise.

But, but...that's cheating! That's like suggesting that someone don't hang up every single poster - surely that doesn't happen, right?

I'll think about it, especially since there has been less orders out it seems like. I was really hoping they did a BLAM type event again so I could at least try to rack in some points - but
Pro-tip. Right click on orders and "open in new tab". Otherwise the time it takes to load the orders page each time will drive you insane
It finally dawned on me to do this last night, as I was completing 16 freaking orders, lol. Saves so much time.
i have on average 15+ tabs open at any given time so i did this by habit without even thinking about it. open order, open the post/tweet in yet another tab, accept the order. then screenshot, upload, and bam you're done.
I think every order I've done for the past 2 years has been thru the app. So easy. I knocked out the 10 orders we had yesterday in about 5 minutes.
The app hardly ever works right for me. I have to restart it after I accept the order and then after I upload the proof before I can submit it. It works in the end, but it's a pain to constantly have to do that.

The app crashes constantly for me, on my current phone, my old phone, and my tablet. I try it every so often and have reinstalled and all that, and it sometimes works for a minute, then it dies. I do Twitter and FB orders on a laptop cause that's just what I prefer, and use Chrome on Android for Instagram orders. Pretty easy once you get used to it, and Regrann is awesome, thanks to everyone who recommended it here.
just got a reply to my message to the community managers about st. louis poster runs. she said they haven't determined the postering locations for this year yet. makes sense, i guess since roo's still like 5 months away.

I just use the browser version. Still takes a while to load but never crashes or forces you to reload the page and its actually faster in the long run. App sucks balls
