Reading through all this mess makes me REALLY want to make a roo-tu for my first Roo!! How does one go about wearing one...just throw it on with whatever else you are wearing, or making it its own outfit?
Welcom Cowgal! What Dreamingtree said - you can just throw it on over what you're comfy in! One year I wore mine over whatever knit/jersey dress i had on that day. Last year I was feeling saucy and wore it over shorty shorts with a yoga bra and a tank. Whatever floats your boat!
Oh and *edit* I just posted the first 3 of the 2013 Lineup Tus on the etsy site. Hopefully they are acquired and LOVED by their new owners!

Just finished up my Rootu!! Pics will have to wait, but I think it looks pretty sweet! Even the kids got in on it, my toddler has been running around in her pink and black one since I finished it..haha!

If this is you're 3rd Roo, I'm sure you've seen the Rootus. It is SO. MUCH. FUN. to wear one around! People will just shout ROOTU!!! at you and I know i was in several people's photos last year too ("can I take a picture with you??") they just add a level of GLEE to the day.

Herro everyone! <3 Just a note, I finished up an Animal Collective: Merriweather Post Pavillion Tu last night. Gonna add some rhiiiiinestones and post it up this weekend (read: Sunday).
To come this weekend (again: Sunday) is the Grizzly Bear: Veckatimest and The XX. I was only going to do one XX tu for Coexist, but I think I may do two. The idea in my head is just so neato, that I think I need to do two - but they WILL be different, so still one-of-a-kinds. Also if I can/have time, there will be a Charli XCX Tu... spoiler alert: for realz, actual fire will be involved in the making of this Tu. FIRE FIRE FIRE.

I had so much fun making my first RooTu. I think my 7 year had even more fun. She made two & has decided that her birthday party this year will be a RooTu making party. I did found out that glitter tulle is a ton of trouble - what a mess. I will make a couple more, & I have this great idea for one for my husband. Let me get opinions on this. Last year his QSAROO crown was this big, regal purple crown. He loved it & wore it proudly. He had a bunch of people coming up to him calling him the Crown Royal man & asking for shots. I'm thinking of making him a purple & gold RooTu & adding some crown royal bags to it. What do y'all think?

I LOVED when I saw these pics on FB! Well done Steph!!! Im so pumped that your girl wants to make them with her friends too, soooo cute I think that adding the crown royal bags to a DudeTu for your hubs is a splendid idea!!! I would LOVE to see that too. So if you do it, DEFINITELY post pics!!!
And yes - to anyone who hasn't tried it - the glitter tulle is like a GLITTER BOMB. So just be prepared for glitter to be EVERYWHERE. EVERYWHERE. I can't say this enough, EVERYWHERE. But - also - don't let that keep you from using the glitter stuff! Just cut the pieces outside, or on a hard-surfaced floor that you can sweep and swiffer up.
My apologies to anyone who was expecting more Tu's on the etsy shop this weekend - I didnt really have the funds to front the material for the XX or Veck tus, and now that I do, the tulle rolls aren't on sale at HL for the mo, so they'll come along eventually.

I just bought Mayo's 'Flowers in Your Hair' Roo-tu...i'm not really a girly-girl, but this Roo-tu is A-DOR-A-BLE and I couldn't resist. plus I've got two wrist-tus. I'm going to be covered in tu's!

Bonz, it looks like those rolls are the same as Joann and HL, 25 yds by 6" wide. Also keep in mind the polyester vs nylon rolls. Poly is stiffer and generally shinier. The nylon is less shiny.

yes, custeph. i think i'm gonna have to go for it this year. can not wait to see you in your rootu! everyone had so much fun wearing their hoods at moog. i would love to share in the rootu fun. love the train on the last tu mayonaise! love all your work! saw one on pinterest that was really long and super full. need to figure out what to wear under a tu though.

I got my roo-tu today and it is FABULOUS! My husband can't believe that me, the least girly-girl in the WORLD, will be wearing this Roo-tu, but he just doesn't get the whole Roo thing. I LOVE IT!!!! Thank you for the extra flowers too...i can't say enough about how excited I am!
Now, like others, to figure out what to wear underneath...I found some bright yellow shorts at Old Navy on the cheap that might work...does anyone wear skirts or dresses underneath their tu's? I'd love to know how everyone else covers their lady-bits while wearing their Roo-tu....

I wear bike shorts or similar underneath. Last year, I sprung for the wicking fancy breathable Nike shorts. They're wonderful.
Hubby went to visit family today so I was alone and commenced to trying on all my Roo gear...turns out I have a pair of light green Prana wicking shorts that basically disappear under the sparkly beauty of my Roo-tu. AND they didn't fit last year, so double bonus!

Reading through this makes me even more excited for my first Roo! My daughter saw this and asked to go shopping tonite for supplies. I'll have to check out Etsy to see what is out there. She is pretty creative though, sure we can make ourselves some awesome Rootu's.
